“…” When Zane woke up, something was tickling his face.
He looked down and saw a pair of soft pink fox ears pressed against his cheek.
With every breath Evanescia took, they twitched and trembled, brushing his skin over and over.
Fox ears are very sensitive.
Even a light touch could make them shudder, which only made them rub more and feel even stranger.
That was why Evanescia’s ears kept trembling nonstop against his face.
It was a good thing Cipher, the cat girl, wasn’t around.
If she were, this would have been the perfect cat teaser.
The little fox girl slept quietly on his chest, curled up just like a real fox, with only her pale face showing.
Her long lashes fluttered a little, and her soft pink lips parted as she breathed softly.

When Zane looked closer, he saw a single clear tear at the corner of her eye.

He looked down at the fox girl in his arms.

She hid half her face in Zane’s chest, not ready to face anyone yet.
“Alright.” Zane knew the little fox was embarrassed.
He gently pinched her soft, warm cheek, then got out of bed and took a quick shower to wash away the tiredness from last night.
By the time he stepped out, Evanescia had already disappeared.

Both girls had red, teary eyes.

Tears filled her pink eyes.
She clearly wanted to go over and hug Bronya too.
“Hey, hey, short stack.” Kiana sniffled and wiped her face with her hand.

Can you at least show some reaction?” Bronya’s past was much sadder than Kiana had thought.
Still, in the end, every debt has someone responsible.

Deep down, Kiana had already accepted Bronya.

She looked up at Zane, eyes wide in shock.
“Old man, she…!” “What’s wrong with Bronya?” Evanescia stepped out of her bedroom, looking more composed.
Her cheeks were still a little red, but her eyes were clear.
Because of her relationship with Zane, Bronya was now technically her daughter too.
At least for now…
“The physical structure of her legs is completely destroyed,” Silver Wolf said, her throat dry.
“Without the support of her exoskeleton armor, she would be fully paralyzed.” She took a deep breath before sharing what really scared her.
“And her brain tissue has suffered severe trauma.
The damage rate is roughly eight percent.
Her amygdala is especially damaged, and her emotional neural circuits are massively ruptured.” Silver Wolf drew in a sharp breath.
“Hsss!” The living room fell dead silent.
Her words struck the group like a physical blow, leaving everyone’s mind buzzing.
“…” Elysia covered her mouth as tears spilled from her eyes.
Furina’s eyes reddened, and she bit her lip hard.
Miyabi Hoshimi’s eyes widened, her pupils contracting sharply.
“So when you said you couldn’t feel sadness earlier…” Kiana stood frozen as if struck by lightning.

She raised her hand and slapped herself hard across the face.

From a distance, she looked like a faint ghost made of light.
Only the bio-chip remained clearly visible, its entire structure exposed under the state of Nihility.
A golden light burst from Zane’s palm, full of energy and life.
“Divine Recovery.” The light moved through Bronya’s body, working to heal every injury she had ever suffered.
