“Little Damien, now that you have got everything you would need for your first year of Hogwarts, this is your ticket for the train to Hogwarts. To get on the Hogwarts Express, you need to go to King’s Cross station, and head to platform 9, there, the third pillar is the secret doorway, you need to run into it, and you will cross it to enter platform nine and a three quarters.” Professor Flitwick said with a serious expression.
Then he turned towards Daphne, “And I am sure Little Daphne would help her friend getting on the Hogwarts express.
“Thank you for your guidance, Professor Flitwick.” I thanked the professor who looked smaller than us eleven year old’s.
Greeting us goodbyes, professor Flitwick left with an Apparition, simply whooshing out of existence, which shocked both my parents, and frankly, me too.
‘Apparition…
it has to be one of the most practical space based spells in the world just because of how instantaneous it is…
I’d have to give it to Wizard magic, for all their lack of firepower, their utility is unmatched.’ I thought solemnly.
Of course, it also filled me with anticipation because I was about to learn all those spells.
Wizarding magic is much more suitable for me than the calculation based magic of humans, after all, calculating everything in the middle of a fight would be such a pain.
Sure, a wand and incantations are not the best, and I would much rather prefer simple imagination based magic, I am not a Devil or God, so I need to make the best out of what I can.
In the meantime, Daphne had started arguing with her little sister, who was shocked about how her sister had managed to make a friend, and get a cat, in the time she went out to eat ice cream.
“Sister, can’t we give him a better name, I think Mordred would be better, what kind of name is Primordial Destroyer…” Astoria said, frustration clear in her tone.
“Primordial Destroyer is the perfect name, look at Damien’s cat, her name is Star Annihilator. You are the only one giving weird names here, besides, look at how majestic he looks, only a name like Primordial Destroyer is befitting.” Daphne argued in complete seriousness.
“I can see why the two of them became friends…” David sighed.
Mr. Greengrass, nodded back.
“By the way, do you wizards not feel uncomfortable, keeping all your money in the hands of a different race?” David switched the topic, to something we wanted to ask before, but couldn’t ask Professor Flitwick, since he was a half goblin himself.
William sighed, “I do… I very much do. But all the other idiots in the ministry don’t see the problem, the entire ministry is full of stuck up idiots with their heads inside their ass, and the minister of magic, Fudge is even more of a moron.”
“It seems the government is the same no matter the place. Even magical ones are similar.” David laughed.
“Please, your muggle government is leagues better, at least they can get the job done. Anyways, doesn’t the currency conversion have a limit, how did you manage to get so much at once?” William asked curiously.
“Just exchange gold, even you guys value gold the same, it is much easier to exchange it, I just spent about 150,000 pounds and got 30,000 galleons. And looking at the prices here, it was practically a steal.” David laughed.
“You know, it’s not that it was a steal, but thirty thousand Galleons is a big sum, even many noble families might not be able to take out that much, especially now that the last war drained most of them. And looking at how comfortable you are with that sum, I’d say you could give that bastard lucius a run for his money” William laughed out.
“War? You know what, that sounds like serious talk, how about we meet up sometime, I have got quite a few Whiskey barrels which are just perfect for the occasion.” David said with a smile, clearly intending to know more about the world his son was getting into.
“Hmm, can’t say I’ve ever tried Muggle alcohol, so, of course. But remember, an unimpressed wizard can be very dangerous.” William replied with a chuckle, his personality was very different from what I thought it would be.
This also explained some of the reason why the Greengrass stayed away from the war…
William was a rather normal man, he had little ambition, and he cared for his family, nor did he care much for pure blood supremacy.
“Daphne, where are the other shopping spots of the Wizarding world? Diagon alley is interesting, I would love to explore more.” I asked, despite knowing the answer.
“Umm, Diagon alley is the only one in Britain, but you should go to France, they have Place Cachee there, it is considered amongst the most beautiful wizarding markets in the world.” Daphne replied thoughtfully.
“Huh really? The wizarding community is that small? I mean the Diagon alley is pretty small…”
“Well, there’s also Knockturn alley, but only dark wizards go there.”
“What’s dark wizards?” I asked, trying to get her view on the topic.
“Dark wizards are evil wizards, most of them served the dark lord, You-know-who… They are bad news.” Daphne said with utmost seriousness.
“I know who? How am I supposed to know that, I just got here.” I complained jokingly.
Never really understood the wizarding culture of calling Voldemort as You-know-who…
Sure, he has cursed that name, and speaking it would give away your location, but can’t you just give him some weird nicknames?
Voldymoldy, Shitmort, Baldymort…
These guys seriously lack creativity, one look at them and you would understand why they haven’t been able to develop past the middle ages.
“You-should-know-who. He was the previous dark lord, his terror reigned across all of Britain, even Hogwarts almost fell to him. It was then that Harry potter, The boy who lived, defeated him, vanquishing him, at the young age of 1. And that was ten years ago, which reminds me, Harry Potter would be joining us at Hogwarts this year.” Daphne struck her palm, excited at the prospect of meeting the supposed savior of Britain.
“He couldn’t be that bad, right? I mean, he failed to rule over his high school, and lost to a toddler, his greatest accomplishment was scaring a few streets…” I shrugged with a smirk, trying to look at her expression changing as I said that.
“T…that just means Dumbledore and Harry Potter are awesome, not that You-know-who is weak.” Daphne countered, but the blushing embarrassment on her face revealed that she wasn’t fully convinced herself.
