The return journey went much more smoothly.

They quickly reached the contact point, switched starships, and warped back.

On the way, they learned that the Polluted left behind had been attacked and the Medic was injured.Full novel: Husband? Only Choose the Unhinged, Older, Dark, Love-Rivalry Type. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

They didn’t get to go home; instead, they were intercepted halfway by military personnel and taken away for investigation.

This was originally a task with little difficulty, but now an accident had occurred, and Bo Yin would be the first to be held accountable.

Wuning was isolated for questioning alone, though the military provided a very comfortable room.

Soon, she was summoned to the interrogation room.

Five or six people sat across from her. “Please have a seat, Miss Wuning.”

Wuning looked at the chair. “This doesn’t look like a regular interrogation chair.”

“You have a keen eye. The helmet on this chair is connected to the most advanced lie detector currently available. Please take a seat,” one of them said gently.

Wuning walked over and sat down. Her wrists were immediately clamped onto the armrests, immovable.

A guard placed the helmet on her head.

The person opposite introduced himself. “I am Lieutenant Durant, in charge of your interrogation. Next, I will ask you a few simple questions to calibrate the baseline. Relax, okay?”

Lieutenant Durant had a friendly face, which easily lowered the guard of those being interrogated.

Wuning nodded.

Durant asked Wuning about her personal information one by one. After calibrating the baseline for telling the truth, he nodded to the others.

“Next, please answer truthfully. During this mission, were you aware of the mission’s content? If so, please recount it.”

Wuning answered truthfully.

“During the mission, did you notice any unusual circumstances? Anything unusual will do.”

Wuning paused for a few seconds. Durant repeated the question, and on the screen behind the girl, the thought lines began to deviate and fluctuate from the baseline.

Wuning spoke. “This was my first mission. During the mission, I learned that the Polluted would not receive any form of rescue. Does that count as noticing something unusual?”

Durant glanced at her a few times. “This indicates that you should have thoroughly read the mission manual and related regulations. Please describe the difficulty of this mission.”

Wuning looked directly at him. “For me, it was quite difficult. For the Polluted, they didn’t need to engage in combat; it was a difficulty level that other combat units could handle.”

Durant raised an eyebrow in surprise. “…What did you do after the mission ended?”

Wuning’s gaze swept over the rank insignias on the sleeves of the others. “We contacted the military ship for evacuation as planned, but failed. As a Medic, I followed regulations and waited for rescue.”

“But you didn’t, did you? Were you voluntarily leaving the protective shield to go to the abandoned base, or were you coerced?” Durant asked.

Wuning secretly bit the tip of her tongue. “That’s correct. Thanks to Major General Bo Yin’s keen perception, he sensed something unusual and chose to actively seek a way out. I voluntarily followed; there was no coercion.”

“How did you know that Major General Bo Yin could safely evacuate you? You should be aware of the safety of the protective shield,” Durant asked.

Wuning couldn’t help but show a slightly amused expression. “I didn’t know. I just chose to trust Major General Bo Yin. I’m someone who takes initiative. Besides, the outcome proved that the protective shield wasn’t safe, and the Polluted also needed support.”

The person with the highest rank present spoke. “Why did you voluntarily apply to join Squad 191? Didn’t you know who they are?”

Wuning smiled. “Is this question related to this mission?”

“Please answer the question instead of asking one in return,” Durant said.

The anger in Wuning’s heart was slowly solidifying. She raised an eyebrow slightly. “Then I hope you can keep this confidential.”

“I was attacked in the Dark Sky Zone, and Squad 191 saved me. I fell in love with them.”

The room fell silent.

Wuning continued in a lighthearted tone, “I deeply love these terrifying lunatics. Even if they suck me dry and chew me to pieces, I’ll still love them. That’s exactly why I went there.”

Durant barely managed to maintain his composure. “If Squad 191 were to betray the military, what would you do?”

Wuning tilted her head. “Oh… If you’re willing to let me marry every single member of Squad 191, then I’ll seduce them back. After all, I’m a Medic. In your eyes, isn’t that what Medics are for?”

The room fell silent once again.

Behind the one-way glass, Bo Yin listened, nearly crushing the handcuffs in his grip, his skin growing warm.

A colleague guarding him nearby looked at him with a complicated expression. “Where did you manage to trick such a beautiful girl from?”

Bo Yin replied hoarsely, boasting, “I didn’t trick her.”
