“Hey, tell me, what should we do about this?” Luoluo asked Qin Hao.
“You sleep on the bed. I can sleep on the sofa,” Qin Hao replied.
Luoluo touched his throat and said strangely, “Huh? You clearly have an Adam’s apple.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“Strange. If you have an Adam’s apple, you should be a man.” Luoluo’s little face was full of confusion.
“How am I not a man?” Qin Hao asked, baffled.
“If you were some other man, shouldn’t you have said something like, ‘It’s fine, we can squeeze together’?” Luoluo asked.
Qin Hao smiled. “That’s because other people don’t understand you. How could you possibly agree?”
“Hehe, go on, say it. Maybe there’ll be a surprise.” Luoluo smiled at her.
Qin Hao still shook his head. “No need. I don’t like squeezing together with other people.”
He was not some fool with lust clouding his mind. How could he possibly sleep together with Luoluo?
“No, you have to say it.” Luoluo pouted and chided him.
“Luoluo, everyone has their own principles and boundaries. Imposing your thoughts on others isn’t right,” Qin Hao said flatly.
Luoluo lowered her head, her voice somewhat low:
“But I’m really scared. Everything before my eyes is darkness. Without someone familiar by my side, I can’t bear it.”
Qin Hao looked at her in surprise. “You’re a five-star expert, and you’re still afraid of the dark?”
“No matter how many stars I have, I’m still human. Everyone is afraid of the dark! When I was little, I swore that I would never stay in the darkness again. But who could have known that I would become blind? My world has completely lost its light, and everywhere is darkness.” Luoluo sat at the edge of the bed, curled into a ball, and said mournfully.
Qin Hao glanced at Luoluo and nodded lightly. Fear of darkness was something engraved in the human genes. What was more, Luoluo was essentially still a little girl.
“Then let’s do this. Move the sofa beside the bed, and I’ll stay by your side,” he suggested.
“No, I’m still afraid. I want to be able to touch you at any time.” Luoluo shook her head.
Qin Hao frowned. “Then sleep. I’ll lean against your feet. You’ll be able to touch me just by stretching out your leg.”
“Like that? That’s fine, too.” Luoluo nodded, kicked off her shoes, and lay down.
Qin Hao also sat down at the foot of the bed.
As soon as he sat down, Luoluo placed her feet on his legs.
Qin Hao glanced at her and saw a relieved smile appear on her face.
“Good night, Qin Hao,” Luoluo said sweetly.
“Mm, good night.” Qin Hao smiled and answered.
However, he did not fall asleep. It was not because of Luoluo; rather, he felt a faint unease in his heart, as if something bad were happening.
He mentally deduced how things might unfold, along with everything that might happen.
Time slowly passed as he continued his deductions.
As time passed, Luoluo seemed to truly fall asleep. She began turning over repeatedly while continuously moving closer to him.
First, she slid her entire body downward and placed both legs on top of him.
But that sleeping position was not comfortable. She kept adjusting herself, and in the end, she turned ninety degrees and pressed herself against Qin Hao.
Afterward, she reached out and hugged Qin Hao directly, placing one leg over his legs and hooking him with it.
In this position, she seemed to be hugging a large stuffed toy.
However, this sleeping position seemed to be her favorite. She finally stopped moving, her breathing calm and long.
Looking at Luoluo like this, Qin Hao shook his head and laughed.
However, he did not push her away. Instead, he continued deducing things in his mind.
Time passed once again.
About an hour later, Luoluo suddenly began trembling all over and muttered in her sleep:
“No, don’t hit Luoluo. Luoluo hurts.”
Qin Hao could feel her fear and panic.
“Luoluo is hurt. It hurts so much.” At this moment, she hugged him tightly and began sobbing softly.
“Who is hitting you?” Qin Hao asked quietly.
“Stop hitting me. Luoluo will be brave. Please, mother.” Bloodwater streamed from Luoluo’s eyes. “No, Luoluo doesn’t want to stay in the little dark room. Mother, let me out.”
Qin Hao’s heart jolted. He more or less understood where the so-called Game of the Brave had come from, and he also understood what Luoluo had suffered during her childhood.
He hurriedly comforted her in a gentle voice beside her ear:
“Luoluo, don’t be afraid. Mother won’t hit you anymore. You’re not in the little dark room either.”
“It’s so dark. Luoluo is scared.” After hearing Qin Hao’s voice, Luoluo’s emotions seemed to ease somewhat.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m with you,” Qin Hao said gently.
“Mm, you’re with me. Luoluo isn’t afraid.” Luoluo murmured, and her body stopped trembling as her breathing returned to normal.
Qin Hao looked at her little face and shook his head lightly. No wonder she was afraid of the dark.
However, Luoluo’s immense strength should be inseparable from her mother’s harshness.
He simply did not know what kind of ruthless person her mother was to be capable of treating her own daughter so cruelly.
Thinking about these things, Qin Hao gradually fell asleep as well.
After who knew how long, he suddenly felt something heavy on him, and his chest felt terribly stuffy.
He opened his eyes, and through the haze, he saw a figure before him.
He blinked and hurriedly looked again, only to see that Luoluo had somehow ended up lying on his chest, sleeping soundly.
He raised his head and checked the time. It was already early morning.
He moved his body, wanting to make Luoluo roll off him.
However, his entire body was numb, and he could not exert any strength at all.
Helpless, he could only call out, “Luoluo, wake up.”
After he called several times, Luoluo finally stirred and mumbled, “I still want to sleep a little longer.”
“If you keep sleeping, you’re going to crush me to death.”
“Huh?” Hearing this, Luoluo became much more alert. She seemed to realize what she had done and hurriedly rolled to the side.
“Are you all right? I didn’t do it on purpose,” she asked Qin Hao.
“I’m fine for now. My whole body is just numb, and my chest feels a little tight.” Qin Hao shook his head.
“Then I’ll help relieve it.” Luoluo hurriedly reached out and patted Qin Hao’s back, massaging his stomach.
“Does it feel better?” Luoluo asked after a while.
Qin Hao nodded. “Much better. The suffocating feeling is gone, but my legs and feet are still numb.”
“All right, I’ll massage your muscles.” Luoluo nodded and began kneading the muscles in Qin Hao’s legs.
However, she accidentally touched something and asked curiously:
“What is this?”
“Let go quickly. This is a guard’s self-defense weapon, an electric baton. It’s dangerous, so don’t touch it carelessly.” Qin Hao hurriedly explained.
“Hehe? What’s a little electricity? You forgot that even the prisoner chip can’t do anything to me, let alone this.” Luoluo giggled. “Let me play with it.”
