Su Yang scrutinised his surroundings. He was standing in the middle of a jungle, with towering trees rising around him. A canopy had formed over his head. A large range of mountains was on his right. One of the peaks was where his sect was located.

He patted his hands. "Let’s go." He began to search for beasts to hunt.

He first checked the ground. Footprints or feces, anything could be useful. Unfortunately, he didn’t find anything.Full novel: I Cultivate My Master's Fake Techniques — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Meanwhile, Bai Ruo and the others had caught up. They were hiding behind a large tree and watching him.

Su Yang was crouched over as he took a careful glance. ’I’m not a hunter.’ He didn’t know what to do, but he was following what he had read, checking for signs of beasts from footprints or anything else. But it was different in his fellow disciples’ view.

"Is he searching for something?" Li Ming wondered. "Should we help?"

"Maybe he lost his money?" Lei Feng suggested.

"No." Jia Xin shook her head as Su Yang moved to another area. "He didn’t lose anything. He is trying to find signs."

"Indeed." Bai Ruo agreed. "But he’s too inefficient."

"By the way, Master, why don’t we ask him now?" Li Ming asked, pointing at Su Yang, who had covered more than ten metres by now. "Whether he is running away or not?"

"It seems he is really trying to hunt monsters." Jia Xin sighed, wiping off her non-existent sweat from her forehead.

"Should we go back now, then?" Lei Feng glanced at his sect’s peak. He was already feeling tired.

"No." Bai Ruo rejected the idea. "Since we’re already here, let’s watch him."

The disciple trio glanced at her in doubt.

"Remember, he is just an ordinary person. If he tries to hunt powerful beasts, he’ll die."

"Good, let’s lend him a hand." Jia Xin swiftly agreed.

"Urgh." Lei Feng just groaned.

Li Ming tilted his head slightly. "But if he cannot hunt them, what’s he trying to hunt?"

"Maybe ordinary animals like tigers or bears?" Jia Xin spread her hands.

"But even we cannot fight against those creatures without external objects." Lei Feng folded his arms.

"Let’s see." Bai Ruo waved her hand for them to follow.

Su Yang didn’t even notice them.

After a few hours, "Finally found it." Su Yang yelled as the row of footprints of an animal appeared in his vision, just a few steps away from him.

He didn’t hesitate as he followed them. It led him to a cave.

"Grrr." A loud howl echoed from it.

Su Yang curiously peeked in from the side. It was a bit dark, but the light was enough to see. It was just around ten metres deep and five metres tall. A seven-foot-tall black bear was eating a goat as blood splashed around.

"My power should be enough to hunt it." He muttered. He picked up a rock from the side and threw it, aiming at the creature.

Thud!

It hit the target’s head. The bear got furious as it raised its head and glared at Su Yang with its furious crimson eyes.

Murderous intent flashed in them.

Su Yang even waved his finger to irritate it even more. He then ran, pivoting as he didn’t want to fight in front of an entrance.

Bai Ruo stood nonchalantly as she heard the roar of the creature, but the rest didn’t. Lei Feng even hugged Bai Ruo’s legs, falling to the ground. "Master, you have to protect me."

Li Ming stood still. Jia Xin folded her arms and mocked, "First Senior Brother, it’s just an ordinary beast. You can kill it with your talisman with your eyes closed."

"Huh?" Lei Feng stood up and patted the dust off his plain robes. "I fell due to the slippery ground." He threw mud on a random spot, picking it up from another area. "There, no one would fall like me again."

They stared blankly at him.

"Roar!"

The bear ran out on all four limbs. It was standing at almost one metre as it was on all fours.

"My first hunt." Su Yang grinned as he stood calmly, with his hands behind his back.

"What is junior brother doing?" Jia Xin scolded. "Shouldn’t he run?"

"Yes, a bear is at the top of the food chain among mortal beasts." Lei Feng nodded his head.

"Doesn’t he have a talisman?" Li Ming patted his storage bag. "With this, he could kill it."

"But..." Just as Jia Xin was about to say something, Bai Ruo raised her hand. "Don’t worry. I’m at Great Perfection of the Blood Qi Realm." She straightened her back and raised her head arrogantly. "I can cross this distance and save him if he is in trouble."

The disciples relaxed.

Jia Xin smiled. "Junior brother is saved. No threat to his life."

"Hmm." The other disciples nodded.

Su Yang calmly watched as the black bear charged towards him, its body speeding up even more

"Momentum." He murmured as he raised his fist.

"What?" Jia Xin hissed. "Pull out the talisman."

"No, you’ll be seriously injured, brother!" Li Ming yelled as he rushed out, taking out his Fireball Talisman.

They were bit away; Su Yang couldn’t hear him.

"Idiot!" Bai Ruo scolded as she bent her knees to leap.

They paused as Su Yang’s fist erupted with white-golden flames. The moment the bear came close, he punched straight at it.

The charging bear tried to stop as its eyes wavered with fear, but due to its speed, it couldn’t stop. It covered its head with its arms.

Bang!

Su Yang’s fist connected with the bear’s arms, and its bones shattered. His punch was so powerful that it cracked even its head.

Crack!

The bone-shattering sound echoed.

Whoosh!

The bear was sent hurling towards the cave it had dashed from, and thud! It hit the end of the cave.

Su Yang took slow steps as his lips curved. "Not bad."

He entered the cave and found that the rock wall had been cracked, and a line of blood flowed down as it seemed the bear had slid down after hitting the end.

"My punch power is multiple times stronger than the strongest boxer from my past life." He mused as he waved his fist.

He didn’t even feel a thing. He only felt like he had touched a soft object, and the bear died. He then put away the bear’s body into his storage pouch.

On the other side, Bai Ruo and the disciples froze. They paled and held their mouths as they backed away. They didn’t even pivot around as they were afraid he would spot them, running backwards.

"Master, was he really an ordinary mortal when you found him?" Jia Xin snapped as they moved a few hundred metres away.

"Maybe, or maybe not." Bai Ruo’s face paled. "He may be an evil cultivator who likes to kill and take small sects’ treasures..." She swallowed. "That white Blood Qi. I’ve never seen something like that."

"Master, aren’t you strong?" Lei Feng questioned. "Can’t you fight him?"

"You want me dead?" Bai Ruo barked and slapped Lei Feng’s head as he fell to the ground.

"His aura is so frightening. I don’t stand a chance." She fell back and ran a hand through her hair. "What now?"

"Will he kill us for giving him a fake technique?" Her hands trembled.

In fact, it was the Undying Phoenix Blood Qi that sent a chill down her spine, despite Su Yang being currently weaker than her.
