“No…no, what could I possibly be hiding from you? It’s all for the sake of the Mu family’s development.

Have you forgotten your father’s dying words? Have you forgotten how your father died?”

Mu Xiubai’s probing gaze brought Gu Lanying back to her senses, almost causing her to slip up in her excitement.Full novel: I Exit a Three-Person Marriage Remarry My Best Friend’s Older Brother and Fall Madly in Love — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Xiubai had always admired his father since childhood and always listened to him.

Over the years, Xiubai had always done a good job and never caused her any worry.

If he knew she had used him, given Xiubai’s personality, he might do something irreversible.

Mentioning his father, Mu Xiubai’s probing gaze deepened and sharpened.

His hands clenched tightly together, making a creaking sound.

Gu Lanying slowly stepped forward, gently patting Mu Xiubai’s shoulder, her tone softening.

“Xiu Bai, just sign the divorce papers. Isn’t there a one-month cooling-off period?

If you can win Ruan Mi back within that month, it’s not too late.

As for Zhou Mei, you should send her abroad first! Three to five years is enough time for you to make a name for yourself in the capital.”

Mu Xiu Bai had regained his usual composure. The events of the past few days had been too unpleasant.

Ruan Mi’s attitude had changed, the company’s development had stalled, and he had even almost offended Bo Ye because of it.

Ultimately, the root of all this was Zhou Mei’s sudden return to the country. As long as he sent her back, he could show his stance that Ruan Mi loved him so much, and then everything would return to normal.

Standing at the door, Zhou Mei’s eyes were filled with resentment, her hands gripping the mop so tightly they turned white.

She had heard the entire conversation between the mother and son, including the ruthlessness in Mu Xiu Bai’s eyes.

She knew Mu Xiu Bai too well. He seemed devoted to her, but deep down he was a selfish and self-serving person; he only loved himself.

Send her away for three to five years? How could there possibly be any place for her and her child by then?

If Mu Xiubai found out about what happened back then during this time, all this love would vanish.

Therefore, she absolutely could not be sent away; Mu Xiubai and Ruan Mi’s marriage had to end.

She reached out and gently stroked her lower abdomen, her eyes filled with ruthlessness.

Even if it meant sacrificing this child, she was willing to do it.

The night was brightly lit, and a busy day’s work was over.

Ruan Mi nestled in bed, holding the divorce papers in one hand and scrolling through the entertainment headlines on her phone with the other.

They were all about Mu Xiubai’s marital troubles and the turmoil in Mu’s stock.

Ruan Mi’s eyes crinkled with joy, her mood was wonderful . As

long as the headlines remained hot, Mu Xiubai’s troubles would continue.

He wouldn’t have the time to bother her.

Thus, Ruan Mi spent an incredibly peaceful and happy night. She

even ate an extra egg when she woke up in the morning.

She thought this kind of life would continue forever, but before she could even enjoy it until noon, Mu Xiubai called.

The call ended, but they kept calling, so Ruan Mi simply blocked them.

The phone calls stopped, and then WeChat messages started bombarding her.

She randomly opened one to see what Mu Xiubai was up to.

What she saw almost made her vomit.

How had she never noticed how shameless and brazen Mu Xiubai was before?

Even after everything was like this, he still hoped she would change her mind.

He talked about starting over, promising to be good to her in the future, even saying he’d send Zhou Mei away and even make her abort the child.

There was no one else between them.

At this moment, Ruan Mi truly felt how blind she had been before.

Perhaps Mu Xiubai was genuinely kind when they were young, but now, that kind little boy was gone.

Zhou Mei was already over three months pregnant; the risks of an abortion at this point were unimaginable.

Finally, she simply blocked all contact methods.

Night fell, and the nightlife was just beginning; the entertainment venues in Hai City were bustling with activity.

The luxurious private room on the second floor was filled with many prominent figures,

all CEOs of entertainment companies.

These were all stepping stones for Ruan Mi’s desire to direct again.

Because Bo Ye was hosting the gathering, the atmosphere was very harmonious.

After a few rounds of drinks, several people extended olive branches to Ruan Mi.

Ruan Mi smiled and thanked them all, knowing that things wouldn’t have gone so s  moothly without Bo Ye’s involvement.

Ruan Mi had drunk several glasses of wine, her face slightly flushed, a rosy pink.

“I’m going to the restroom,”

she said, a little tipsy, wanting to wash her face.

Bo Ye looked at her with some concern and asked, “Should I go with you?”

Ruan Mi shook her head and chuckled, “No need, I’ll be right back.”

As soon as she stepped out of the private room, Ruan Mi reached out and leaned against the wall for support.

It had been so long since she’d had alcohol; her tolerance had actually declined so much.

She patted her cheeks and got up to walk towards the restroom.

Before she could even find her way, someone grabbed her arm at a secluded corner.

Startled, Ruan Mi was about to question them when she was slammed against the wall, her other wrist held tightly.

The person before her was none other than Mu Xiubai.

Ruan Mi’s face instantly darkened.

“Why are you pulling me? Let go of me!”

Ruan Mi asked irritably, trying to free her wrists.

The more she struggled, the tighter Mu Xiubai gripped her, his body drawing ever closer.

“Ruan Mi, you blocked all my contact information, yet you’re here laughing and chatting with other men. When did you become so shameless?”

Three days had passed; he had searched for her for three days, finally managing to find out her whereabouts, only to see her enter a private room with a group of men.

Their laughing and chatting completely enraged him. He wanted to kick open the door and s  ee who in Hai City dared to covet his woman. However,

he was told that this private room was reserved by President Bo of the Bo Group, and no one was allowed to enter without permission.

He hadn’t expected Ruan Mi to actually be clinging to Bo Ye.

Ruan Mi was equally enraged by Mu Xiubai.

Ruan Mi: “Mu Xiubai, what right do you have to tell me what to do? We’re divorced.”

Mu Xiubai: “We haven’t registered our marriage yet, so we’re still husband and wife. You can’t cheat on me.”

Ruan Mi: “Don’t forget, the divorce agreement is already signed. Do I need to show it to you for your approval?”

The two were deadlocked, and finally Mu Xiubai backed down.

He came to reconcile with Ruan Mi today and couldn’t cause any more trouble.

His tone softened.

“Mi Mi, Zhou Mei will be sent away in a couple of days. If you don’t want to accept the child, I can make her abort it. Let’s not make a fuss anymore, okay?

Let’s be like before. I promise I’ll be a good husband.

By the way, this is something your company employees wrote for you. Zhou Mei’s position is now vacant, and your subordinates all hope you can go back.”

Ruan Mi glanced down at the white paper in Mu Xiubai’s hand. It was covered with names, like an ancient petition.

He was using her relationship with her former colleagues to gamble that she would soften her heart.

Sending her back to the company meant they wanted her to continue working like a slave for the Mu family.

Ruan Mi picked up the piece of white paper with two fingers and suddenly laughed.

She glanced sideways at Mu Xiubai, whose eyes were full of expectation, her gaze icy cold.

“Want me to go back? Fine, I’ll make you beg me to come back at a press conference.”

Mu Xiubai valued his reputation above all else; there was absolutely no way he would beg her in front of the media.
