“Hey, Mimi, I just told you not to leave, why did you hit me?

If hitting me makes you feel better, then go ahead and hit me!” The voice was so

it could pierce your eardrums.

Ruan Mi frowned. The woman who had been shoving her around just moments before was now kneeling on the ground, hugging her leg.

She instinctively tried to pull her leg away, but a sharp shout followed by a huge push sent her sprawling to the ground.

Her head hit the foot of the bed, the pain making her dizzy.

With a bang, the jade bracelet shattered into five pieces.

“My bracelet!”

Ruan Mi ignored the pain and hurriedly knelt down to pick up the broken pieces.

Her hands trembled violently.

“Mei’er, are you alright? Come and let me see where you’re hurt!”

Mu Xiubai picked up Zhou Mei and placed her on the bed, looking her over.

“Xiubai, I’m fine.”

She said she was fine, but still showed her broken wrist.

“You said you were fine, but your wrist is all cut. Ruan Mi, go downstairs and get the first-aid kit,”

Mu Xiubai ordered sternly.

“I’m really fine. Mi Mi said I stole her bracelet, but she wouldn’t listen to my explanation, so she slapped me in a fit of anger.”

“She hit you too?”

Mu Xiubai then noticed the clear five-finger mark on Zhou Mei’s fair face.

His heart ached terribly, and he felt even more resentful towards Ruan Mi.

When Mu Xiubai looked over, Ruan Mi was still picking up her broken bracelet.

His anger intensified.

“Ruan Mi, didn’t you hear me…”

“Shut up.”

Ruan Mi raised her reddened eyes, staring fiercely at the two people in front of her.

If she had a knife, she would have stabbed them both.

Zhou Mei felt a chill run down her spine from their stares and buried her face in Mu Xiubai’s chest, but the slight curve of her lips revealed her good mood.

So what if she was the daughter of the Ruan family in the capital? She was still her defeated opponent.

Mu Xiubai frowned.

He had never seen such a look in Ruan Mi’s eyes before.

Such a strange, cold, and resentful gaze inexplicably made him feel a tightness in his chest. Only then did he seriously look at the bracelet broken into several pieces on Ruan Mi’s hand.

His eyes narrowed slightly; he already knew the answer: she was unhappy that he had given the bracelet to Zhou Mei.

So he spoke unhappily,

“It’s just a bracelet, it’s broken, so what? I can buy another one if you want. But why treat Mei’er like this?

If something happens to Mei’er and the child, can you afford to compensate?”

Could she afford to compensate? This was the only thing her mother had left her.

Mu Xiubai knew this; he knew how much she cherished this bracelet, how carefully she usually cared for it.

Yet he had casually given it to Zhou Mei. How could he have the nerve to say it was just a bracelet?

Ruan Mi’s eyes were red as she tightly gripped the broken bracelet in her palm, her heart as cold as ice. She

slowly stood up and walked to the two embracing figures, then, without warning, slapped them across the face.

*Smack!*

“You’re right, even if you all combined couldn’t afford it.”

Mu Xiubai was stunned by the slap, while Zhou Mei cried out.

“Xiubai, does your face hurt?”

Mu Xiubai realized that Ruan Mi had actually hit him, and was about to get up and hit her back when

a document slammed down on his face.

“Mu Xiubai, sign the divorce papers. From now on, we’ll go our separate ways.”

She then took off her wedding ring and threw it at Mu Xiubai.

She grabbed her suitcase and left without looking back.

Ruan Mi left gracefully, cleanly, just as she had come, without any lingering attachments.

However, after this ordeal, the moon was already high in the sky. Staring at the jade bracelet in her hand as she stood on the roadside, Ruan Mi’s heart sank to the bottom.

Tears finally streamed down

her face. A light rai  n began to fall, and she let the raindrops soak her.

This was the only thing her mother had left her, and she hadn’t even protected it. She was truly despicable; she didn’t even know if it could be repaired.

The rain intensified, but Ruan Mi remained oblivious.

Car headlights shone from afar, and Ruan Mi instinctively raised her arm to shield her eyes. A black Maybach pulled up nearby.

The door opened, and a pair of gleaming black leather shoes stepped firmly on the ground. A

man stepped out, bowing slightly. His impeccably tailored bespoke suit accentuated his aloof and noble air.

A powerful, oppressive aura emanated from him in the rainy night.

Ruan Mi squinted, looking up. The black umbrella obscured half of the man’s face, revealing only his sharply defined jawline.

The man slowly approached, his leather shoes pattering in the rain.

Reaching her, he raised the umbrella, drawing her into his protective embrace. The man slowly looked up, meeting her gaze. His handsome, almond-shaped eyes gleamed with a cold, indifferent light, and his words were like icy blades.

“Five years have passed, how did I end up like this?”

Upon seeing the person before her, Ruan Mi’s tears flowed even more fiercely, as if all the pent-up bitterness and pain in her heart had

finally found an outlet. She threw herself into the man’s arms.

“Brother, is that you back?”

Bo Ye, the eldest son of the Bo family in the capital, and heir to the Bo Group.

Five years ago, he left China to develop his business abroad, and in a short time, the Bo Group has already opened up overseas markets.

Domestically, it has firmly established itself as a leading company. He is

known for his ruthless and merciless business dealings; who wouldn’t avoid his sharp edge at the mere mention of Bo Ye’s name?

And now, the fearsome Bo Ye of the capital is holding an umbrella for a woman.

Looking down at the woman in his arms, who is crying uncontrollably, with tender eyes, he

feels a deep, aching pain in his heart.

His little girl seems to have suffered a lot.

“Alright, I’m back.”

Back at Yujing Bay,

Ruan Mi, whether from exhaustion from crying or from years of tension finally relaxing, has fallen asleep in Bo Ye’s arms.

Bo Ye gently picks her up and carries her directly into his bedroom, looking at her still furrowed brow in her sleep.

Bo Ye uses his rough fingertips to smooth her brow; why is she so restless even in her dreams?

He had been away from the capital for five years, missing her every moment, yet this heartless little thing hadn’t called him even once.

Just because he had spoken ill of Mu Xiubai.

He had thought that as long as she was doing well, he could stay away forever, he would only be her brother.

Unexpectedly, a phone call from Bo Yuan rekindled the seed buried deep in his heart.

“Sir, the hot water is ready, I’ll help this young lady wash up.”

The maid brought a clean towel; Ruan Mi was soaked from head to toe.

Because Ruan Mi had been clinging to him, his clothes were also wet.

“Okay, be gentle.”

Bo Ye stood up, his gaze sweeping over Ruan Mi’s tightly clenched hands.

He wanted to take them out to see what they were, but Ruan Mi held them tightly, showing signs of struggling.

Bo Ye gently soothed her, his hand stroking Ruan Mi’s soft hair.

“Be good, it’s your brother, let go.”

Ruan Mi stopped struggling and slowly opened her hand, revealing the broken jade bracelet. Her palm was scratched from the force.

Bo Ye took out the jade bracelet, preparing to go downstairs to get the first-aid kit to disinfect it.

Just as he lifted his leg, Ruan Mi woke up, and her sleeve was quickly grabbed.

“Brother, is it really you who’s back?”

Her voice was as light as a cloud floating in the sky, without any weight.
