Zuo Si rubbed his temples.

Things had ended up like this after all.

Amidst a combination of coincidences, anomalies, chaos, and various other situations, the entire scene had ultimately devolved into this state. Zuo Si felt that if he did not stand out now, everything that followed would be completely uncontrollable.Full novel: I Refuse to Be the Savior — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He walked slowly to the center of the plaza, looked at the people around him, and sighed.

Zuo Si had not intended to step in to save the day... He was a bit tired; he had originally planned to take shortcuts and slack off, but it had all ended up like this.

What a nuisance.

Zuo Si lowered the hand he had been using to rub his head, and at this moment, his gaze had changed.

The previous laziness seemed to have been swept away, and now, only a look of near-absolute confidence remained.

The man’s posture seemed to have straightened quite a lot. Standing in the center of the plaza, it was as if this were his stage; as long as he stood there, he seemed capable of capturing the attention of everyone around him.

"Gentlemen, and this lady, please calm down first," Zuo Si said in a clear voice. After finishing this sentence, he scanned his surroundings and then looked toward DOOM. "DOOM, put your weapon down first. The Demon Gate here needs someone to close it. If you kill him, this Demon Gate will remain open forever."

"I can enter the Demon Gate and kill every demon inside."

DOOM responded in a cold voice.

"In that case, you won't be able to return to your own world. I imagine the demons on your side haven't been completely wiped out either, otherwise, you wouldn't be running over there every week."

Zuo Si’s tone was cold and detached, yet it immediately silenced DOOM.

"Furthermore, the technology of this world is far inferior to yours. This Demon Gate will definitely leak demons, and you alone cannot handle it."

Zuo Si spoke comfortably, pacing back and forth as if giving a speech.

But Vergil, over there, snorted and stood out.

"You want me to go back and close the Demon Tree? Ha, what qualifications do you have?"

Vergil’s tone was unfriendly; he looked at Zuo Si before him with a completely displeased expression.

He respected the strong, not this guy who appeared to have absolutely no aura of a powerhouse.

"What qualifications?"

Zuo Si glanced at Vergil after hearing this.

"Because you are too weak."

Zuo Si squinted his eyes, his face full of mockery.

Seeing that expression on Zuo Si’s face, several veins clearly popped out on Vergil’s forehead.

"I am too weak?"

He said through gritted teeth.

"That’s right." Vergil’s words were met with a nod from the expressionless Zuo Si. "You can’t even hurt me."

Vergil snorted coldly, and Phantom Swords appeared around his body. The Phantom Swords emitted a crisp ringing sound before rushing toward Zuo Si like a stream of light.

Zuo Si did not even move; he simply closed his eyes right there, and then white light radiated from his body.

Those Phantom Swords collided with the white light and shattered instantly.

Vergil’s pupils twitched.

"You are too weak—how about this: next, you can go all out and attack me. Try to make me open my eyes."

Zuo Si stood with his eyes closed and hands behind his back, speaking coldly.

Watching Zuo Si’s expression, Vergil snorted coldly, then strode forward with his head held high, blue light blooming from his body.

"Thanks, then I shall return the favor with death!" he shouted lowly.

Zuo Si remained motionless with his eyes closed. Blue light flickered continuously on his body, and a piercing sound rang out, like the screeching roar of a dragon.

Blue blade light, the edge of the blades, countless roars, and power—all of this was unleashed upon Zuo Si.

But all of it was swallowed up by the white light, leaving nothing behind.

The blue blades formed a sphere-like shape in the air, jumping and flickering rapidly as they pressed in on Zuo Si. The intimidation was powerful and unbearable, yet just like before, it was all swallowed by the white light.

And Zuo Si, at the center of all these attacks, remained motionless with his eyes closed, looking completely relaxed and at ease.

Everyone around was stunned. They stared blankly at the scene before them, completely at a loss for how to react.

Dante and DOOM, who had both fought Vergil, watched Vergil’s crazy output and knew very well that if they were facing such an attack from Vergil, they would never be able to withstand it.

Yet that unremarkable guy over there had withstood it completely!

He had taken it head-on!

What kind of terrifying power was this!

DOOM’s expression changed several times. He had been curious about what Zuo Si’s ability was, as anyone on that island was certainly no ordinary person.

Now it seemed his previous guess was correct; this man was indeed no simple character.

At the very least, this defensive power... DOOM admitted he could not compare.

Of course, not everyone present believed Zuo Si’s defensive power was invincible.

Just like Victoria, who was standing to the side.

She looked at Zuo Si, who stood in the middle like a king, and for a moment, she could not help but fall into doubt.

She vaguely remembered that Zuo Si should only have strong defensive power, and this defensive power did not seem to be his own.

And... why close his eyes?

Although it seemed no one else raised questions about this aspect, Victoria could not help but think about it.

No matter how you looked at it, defining the goal as "hitting him until he opens his eyes" was a bit strange!

Although most people were attracted by Zuo Si’s imposing words at the time, this was definitely not right, was it!

Victoria felt there must be some trick to it, but she could not figure it out for the moment.

Vergil’s face turned slightly pale. This was not just a matter of power consumption, but also a matter of his mindset.

The person before him completely ignored his attacks. That kind of power was something he had never heard of or seen before, yet it kept irritating his heart, making him feel quite uncomfortable.

It was no longer a question of whether this person would open his eyes.

It was whether he could even hurt him at all.

Vergil caught his breath and looked at Zuo Si, seeing Zuo Si slightly tilt his eyes.

He opened his eyes!

Vergil was inexplicably excited, and then he saw Zuo Si look up, opening his mouth with a hint of disdain:

"Is that it?"
