Chapter 5: Seriously, Why Is There No Internet?

I Woke Up and What Do You Mean “Wishes”? Are You Saying I’m a Genie?!

Well, if I don't know how to play, I guess I'll just have to learn. To do that, I just need to grab my pho... Ah, right. No phone. Now I'm getting truly exasperated, because without a phone and without internet, there are no easy ways to learn, and no way to even tune the instruments. To make matters worse, there isn't a single book explaining how to play any of them—just sheet music for songs I don't even know how to read. Now what?

"I am so screwed."

My best bet is to go by trial and error. I try to see which string makes what sound on the guitar, attempting to play a song I can actually remember. I recall a few from a video game I used to play, so I'll try one of those.

Damn it, why won't it sound the way I want? The rhythm doesn't even sound like music; it just sounds like I'm scratching the strings instead of actually playing. I give up and try another instrument. I move over to the piano; it really is easier, but there are way too many keys for me to memorize everything. Seriously, there's nothing for me to do. I look at the bed where I first woke up and conclude that the best option right now is just to sleep.

But even though I lay down, I can't fall asleep. Come to think of it, so far I haven't felt the urge to relieve any biological needs. I guess I really am a genie of the lamp. So, like any guy who suddenly turns into a woman would do, curiosity got the better of me, and I took a look down there... but I didn't feel anything special. Is it possible that only my physical exterior changed? Or am I slowly changing mentally? Well, this is my body now, so I guess it's normal not to feel a sudden shock.

With not much to do, I just lie there, thinking about life. I think about my 18 years as a guy, wondering if I was ever going to get a girlfriend, or about finishing high school... Well, there's nothing to be done about that now. This truly is another world. How I wish I could explore it! Unfortunately, there isn't a single history book in here, not even a map, so I am basically rotting in this bed.

Well, at least there are fruits. I don't have physical needs, but that doesn't stop me from eating; everything probably just turns into pure energy. I eat a grape, and the taste is exactly as I remember. I keep eating and notice that the fruits simply reappear in the basket. To test a theory, I decide to smash a guitar out of pure boredom. And just as expected, it returned to its original state in the blink of an eye.

When a person has nothing to hold them back, they end up doing whatever they want, and that's exactly what I did. To vent my frustration, I started smashing several items: bowls, tables, and even the instruments. After the anger left my system, I lay back down to eat grapes and drink wine. Yes, there's wine here, and no, I don't get drunk. After eating and drinking my fill, I go back to bed. It feels like I have enough in here, yet at the same time, I have absolutely nothing.

"Seriously, why is there no internet?"
