“I don’t know either.” Kadir shook her head and explained, “From the moment I became an Angel, I possessed two Abilities.”

As she spoke, she turned to glance at her Wings before continuing, “One of the two Wings behind me focuses on combat and belongs to a Seraph’s Abilities.”

“The other focuses on healing and belongs to an Angel of Healing’s Abilities.”Full novel: I’m a Gangster: Starting Off by Smashing an Angel with a Brick — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Upon hearing this, Lin Xiu glanced at Xu Nuo beside him. Xu Nuo also shook his head. “There’s no record of it in the books.”

“Whatever. It’s not a bad thing, anyway.” Lin Xiu waved his hand, then walked up to Wang Zhanwu and asked, “Uncle, how are you? Feeling any better?”

“I’m fine. To us, anything short of death is just a scratch.” Although Wang Zhanwu said this, Lin Xiu could still see a trace of sorrow in his eyes.

Having lost an arm, his combat power would inevitably be greatly reduced. Furthermore, his strength would probably find it difficult to improve any further in the future.

Lin Xiu swept his gaze over the Survivors, then spoke calmly. “Uncle, was it worth it?”

This time, Wang Zhanwu and the others had rescued a total of 72 survivors, only one of whom was a level 1 martial artist. The rest were ordinary people.

The price, however, was the loss of 41 Members of the Night Watch Division, along with one of Wang Zhanwu’s arms!

“What do you mean by ‘worth it’?” Wang Zhanwu failed to understand Lin Xiu’s meaning at first.

“Forty-one Members of the Night Watch Division, plus one of your arms, in exchange for one Level 1 Martial Artist and a group of ordinary people. Was it worth it?”

Hearing this, Wang Zhanwu stared at him for a moment, then shook his head with a bitter smile.

“Kid, human lives aren’t calculated that way.”

“Then how do you measure it? Are the lives of Night Watch Division Members worthless?” Lin Xiu retorted.

“They aren’t worthless. It’s our mission!” Wang Zhanwu’s face remained pale, but his gaze was resolute.

“In Dragon Country, everyone’s life is equally valuable. The difference is that everyone has a different mission.”

“Farmers till the land, teachers educate people, and ordinary people have their own duties. Awakeners have duties of their own.”

“Our mission in the Night Watch Division is to protect them...”

As he spoke, he raised his head and glanced at the rescued Survivors. Deep fear still lingered in their eyes, and some had even become mentally unstable. It was difficult to imagine the torment they had endured during that time.

“If even we in the Night Watch Division start calculating gains and losses, what will happen to them?”

Lin Xiu fell silent for Several seconds after hearing this, then shook his head. “Perhaps you’re right, but I still don’t agree. In my view, the people Beside me are far more important than Unfamiliar people—much more important.”

Afterward, he Turned around and ordered the Gang Members, “Pack up and prepare to leave.”

Wang Zhanwu was about to say something, but Lin Xiu interrupted him.

“Everyone is leaving. If the brothers from the Night Watch Division don’t want to go, tie them up and bring them back. I’ll take responsibility if anything happens!”

Hearing this, the Members of the Night Watch Division placed their hands on the hilts of the swords at their waists and looked toward Wang Zhanwu.

Wang Zhanwu’s face showed conflict. After Several seconds, he still shook his head. How could he not feel heartbroken? He had personally trained all those Night Watch Division members, yet now he could not even bring their bodies back!

..

Three days later, after traveling nonstop, Lin Xiu and the others returned to Biluo City.

Biluo City was not large. Its permanent population and land area were roughly equivalent to those of a prefecture-level city from Lin Xiu’s previous life.

After this world underwent its upheaval, the era ruled by firearms became history. As a result, the governments of various countries nearly collapsed!

Dragon Country established two official organizations.

The Dragon Guard established city lord’s Mansions throughout the various regions and formed awakener legions to resist invasions from the outside world.

The other organization was the Night Watch Division. It had branches in every city and was responsible for public security. It cooperated with the local City Lord’s Mansions and also supervised them.

This was one reason Lin Xiu’s father sent him to Sin City after Lin Xiu offended the City Lord’s Mansion by collecting Protection Fee. A light punishment would have drawn criticism. After all, the Night Watch Division and the City Lord’s Mansion in Biluo City had always maintained a superficially cordial relationship while secretly disliking each other.

As the convoy reached Biluo City’s Entrance, Lin Xiu saw a familiar face. It belonged to a burly Middle-aged man with short hair and a stern appearance.

The man was Lin Xiu’s father, Lin Zhanbei, the Director of the Night Watch Division in Biluo City, a Level Six Martial Artist, and the strongest Expert in the city!

Seeing Lin Zhanbei standing by the roadside, Lin Xiu got out of the car.

“Dad.”

Lin Zhanbei Examined Lin Xiu from head to toe, and a trace of guilt flashed in his tiger-like eyes. Although Lin Xiu had caused serious trouble back then, sending his own son to a place like Sin City still weighed heavily on him.

“You’ve lost weight.” Lin Zhanbei patted Lin Xiu’s Shoulder. “You suffered quite a bit in Sin City, didn’t you?”

“Not really.” Lin Xiu scratched his head awkwardly and smiled. “The people in Sin City are friendly.”

“Friendly?” Lin Zhanbei was slightly stunned. He had made a point of learning about Sin City. Most of its residents were vicious, utterly evil criminals.

After sending Lin Xiu there, he had worried and dispatched people to scout the place. However, Sin City seemed to have established a Civilian Organization by then, with influence throughout the city. Even the best Scouts in the Night Watch Division had obtained only some irrelevant messages.

“They’re friendly. I made quite a few friends there, and I even brought some back with me.”

“Good, good. Young people making friends isn’t a bad thing, as long as you don’t form those chaotic gangs like before.” Lin Zhanbei patted Lin Xiu’s Shoulder again, but his eyes now held relief.

“Where are your friends? Let them get out of the cars. I’ll host a welcome banquet for you.”

“Well... perhaps we should forget it.” Lin Xiu looked troubled. He had planned to settle these people in Biluo City first, then take them with him when he went to Magic City. He had not expected his father, who usually treated him coldly, to come and receive him in person.

“How can we forget it? They came to Biluo City with you, so you must show them proper hospitality. Don’t you even understand basic social etiquette?” Lin Zhanbei glared at Lin Xiu, then said, “Hurry and have them get out of the cars. I’ve already booked a hotel. We’ll add two more tables.”

“Then you may have to spend quite a bit...” Lin Xiu gave an awkward smile, then turned to Hu Shanyue and said, “Third Brother, call everyone down.”

“You got it, boss!”
