In Bu Liuliqing’s world view, dragons summoning wind and bringing rain belonged strictly to myths and legends. Yet here he was, able to witness it live and in person. He felt that gaining this kind of firsthand experience made this transmigratory journey thoroughly worthwhile.
Although he did not get to see Long Huayan reveal his true dragon form, he didn’t harbor any extravagant expectations either just watching was enough.
Now that Long Huayan had broken down in tears, letting it all out with such a hearty vent wasn’t a bad thing at all.
The person they had waited for for so many years was now standing right in front of him in the flesh, and given what had happened between them previously, Bu Liuliqing—as a fellow traveler from another world could fully understand Long Huayan’s state of mind. Long Huayan’s emotions right now were likely exceptionally complicated.
“Old Su, how much longer do you reckon he’s going to cry?” At any rate, judging by the looks of it, he seemed set on crying for a long time.
“It won’t be short.” While Bu Liuliqing could only make a few guesses, Su Chishang was the one who understood most clearly why Long Huayan was losing control to this extent.
Looking at the young man standing amid the pouring rain, it seemed he had indeed accomplished his task, but something must have gone wrong along the way. Otherwise, how could he have ended up almost extracting that brat’s dragon spine?
If that had truly happened, once this person regained his senses, he would likely go mad. Moreover, Long Ze would lose his mind too, and it might even trigger a chain reaction that would throw the entire dragon clan and… everything else into utter chaos.
Standing there with an expression of helplessness, the young man caught Su Chishang’s narrowing, sinking gaze. He had a lingering intuition that some deep conspiracy lay hidden beneath it all.
Consequently, as Long Huayan continued his venting wails with no sign of stopping anytime soon, Su Chishang reached out and grabbed Bu Liuliqing’s wrist—just his wrist, handled very casually and walked right into the pelting rain.
Yet not a single droplet of rain landed on them; even as they walked, not a speck of mud clung to their shoes.
“Can’t you make him stop crying?” Seeing the two approach, Mo Feixi cast a helpless look toward them and asked, his tone laced with a mix of entreaty and self-doubt.
He had never been like this before never.
Even when facing Musui, he had never experienced such a state of inner turmoil, panic, and helplessness. Yet why was it that when Long Huayan cried like this, his heart ached with a sharp, wrenching pain? He couldn’t bear it; he simply couldn’t bear to see him cry.
“What has happened to you?” Su Chishang made no move to stop his godson from crying his lungs out. Instead, he looked straight at Mo Feixi and posed a direct question. Naturally, as Su Chishang asked this, he erected a barrier around them.
No one would be able to hear what they were saying unless their strength surpassed Su Chishang’s but was it possible for such a person to appear here right now? Obviously not.
Su Chishang did this because he knew there were still plenty of hidden eyes and ears from Azure Firmament Academy watching and listening in the shadows.
Upon hearing Su Chishang’s question, Mo Feixi felt as though his mind had been struck a heavy blow, throwing his soul into turmoil. When his gaze fell back upon Long Huayan who was still crouched there, crying with a grievance so deep it pierced the soul that piercing heartache swept through his entire being, striking every bone and fiber of his body as if bearing an unbearable weight.
Yet he felt as though he had been tightly bound by something, unable to move a muscle. He could only stand stiffly in place, his hands and feet growing ice-cold not from the beating rain, but from a chilling dread in his heart.
And yet, this chilling dread was not directed at the few people standing before him.
“I don’t know… I don’t know…” Then what am I supposed to know? What on earth is wrong with me? Mo Feixi knew something was wrong with him something terribly wrong.
Yet he could not articulate the reason for it.
He could only stand there, muttering to himself, completely lost and desolate.
Hearing Mo Feixi’s words, the grievances in Long Huayan’s heart swelled even further as he crouched on the ground. Letting out a wail, he cried even louder and with even more force.
High up in the sky, thunder roared and dark clouds churned…
“Don’t cry. Please, don’t cry anymore.” Finally, unable to endure the persistent aching in his heart any longer, Mo Feixi spoke up amidst his utter helplessness.
“I will cry! I’ll cry all I want! What right do you have to tell me not to? You sealed me, you wanted to kill me, and you even tried to extract my dragon spine! If you want, just finish the job right now! I’m right here, and no one will stop you. You can even take my dragon liver if you like! I don’t want to live anymore; nobody cares about me…” Long Huayan threw a full tantrum, alternating between bawling and shouting.
All while the heavy rain poured down in sheets…
Hearing Long Huayan’s string of accusations, Mo Feixi couldn’t understand why he had previously been able to turn a blind eye to Long Huayan’s proud, uncompromising curses.
Why was it that the moment he cried like this, he completely lost his composure and footing?
Mo Feixi was certain that if Long Huayan had broken down in tears like this back when he sealed him, he would have panicked just the same, feeling just as distressed, helpless, and lost.
“I… didn’t…” Didn’t, didn’t what? He hadn’t wanted to kill him, and he hadn’t wanted to pull out his dragon spine, but he had indeed done those things.
Faced with a Long Huayan who clearly couldn’t be coaxed or calmed down at this moment, Mo Feixi once again cast a pleading look toward Su Chishang and Bu Liuliqing for help.
“You just wanted to kill me! For that Lan Musui, you would do anything, without even fearing the wrath of the dragon clan is there anything you wouldn’t do?
Do it now! I won’t fight back! Anyway… anyway, there’s no point in me living anymore, nothing left to look forward to! I was born with congenital deficiencies anyway, and as a Dragon Crown Prince, I’m a complete laughingstock. The young lords of all the other clans make fun of me behind my back…” Long Huayan seemed intent on airing out every single grievance and sorrow he had ever harbored, venting them all at once.
That tear-choked, sobbing appearance truly tugged at the heartstrings.
“Who dares make fun of you? I’ll slaughter them.” This sentence burst out of Mo Feixi as a reflex, feeling much more like a pure instinct.
It nearly made Long Huayan choke back his tears, but upon hearing those words from Mo Feixi…
The emotions that Long Huayan had suppressed within his heart for many long years erupted completely, leaving him feeling overwhelmingly aggrieved.
He burst into an even louder, unrestrained howl.
He couldn’t be coaxed. This one was definitely beyond any hope of comforting.
