Thor had been extremely troubled lately.
He had never felt this way before.
As the God of Thunder in Norse mythology, the prince of Asgard, and the first heir to the throne of the God King, Thor was supposed to have everything going for him.
In reality, Thor was a complete goofball.
Being a lovable idiot was simply his style.
But the series of events that had happened recently had left the young Thor with enough worries to turn his hair gray.
He had lived for hundreds of years, yet he had never experienced such a headache.
First, his younger brother Loki, the brother who had spent hundreds of years fighting and loving him in equal measure, was revealed not to be his parents’ biological son.
That wasn’t all.
Loki’s true identity was actually the son of the Frost Giant King, the sworn enemy of Asgard.
During a previous war, Odin had brought Loki back to Asgard and raised him.
That much was fine.
Thor felt that blood ties didn’t affect the relationship between him and his younger brother Loki.
But Loki didn’t see things the same way.
After learning that he wasn’t actually a member of Odin’s family by blood, Loki completely fell to darkness.
He first took advantage of Odin’s Odinsleep to seize the throne of the God King, then sent the Destroyer armor to kill Thor.
In the end, the two brothers became enemies, and Loki fell into the depths of the universe, his fate unknown.
His younger brother, who had accompanied him for hundreds of years, was simply gone.
Thor was heartbroken.
But what troubled Thor even more was that Odin suddenly told him that he had an older sister.
Her name was Hela.
She was Odin’s first child and the first heir to the throne of Asgard.
However, Hela had been raised down the wrong path by Odin and had become a madwoman who knew nothing but killing, so Odin had imprisoned her.
Recently, however, Hela had escaped from her seal, and her whereabouts were unknown.
With these two things happening one after another, Thor became distracted and even began questioning his entire life.
Even while standing inside Odin’s Golden Palace, Thor was still thinking about Loki and the older sister he had never even met.
Sitting on the throne of the God King, Odin was also thinking about Hela.
He was troubled as well, perhaps even more troubled than Thor.
Odin had known about Loki’s attempt to seize the throne and had tacitly allowed it to happen.
But sending the Destroyer armor to Midgard wasn’t merely a test for Thor.
It was also an attempt to find Hela’s whereabouts.
In the end, Thor had passed his test, but they had found no trace of Hela.
That was what concerned Odin now.
Odin understood that because of everything he had done in the past, Hela would never forgive him.
And sooner or later, Hela would return to Asgard.
When that happened, it would undoubtedly be an enormous trial for Asgard.
The best option would be to reseal Hela while her injuries had yet to recover.
But the key to sealing Hela was finding her first.
If they couldn’t even locate her, how were they supposed to seal her?
Where had Hela, a person that large, disappeared to?
Why couldn’t they find even a trace of her?
Thinking about this, Odin sighed again.
What a headache.
There was one thing Odin could be certain of.
Hela was still in Midgard.
After all, Odin had sealed Hela in the world of Midgard back then.
But Midgard was enormous.
How exactly was he supposed to find Hela?
At this moment, Odin’s gaze fell upon Thor below.
“Perhaps it’s time to spread Asgard’s light across Midgard.”
Odin thought to himself.
Instead of relying solely on Asgard to search for Hela, why not make use of the humans living in Midgard as well?
The more people searching, the faster they would find her.
Once he had made up his mind, Odin no longer hesitated and slowly spoke.
“Thor, my son.
I have something I need you to do for me.
Can you handle it?”
Odin’s voice snapped Thor out of his thoughts.
He instinctively looked toward his father.
“What is it?”
Thor asked foolishly.
The corner of Odin’s mouth twitched almost imperceptibly.
Inside, he felt somewhat miserable.
How could someone as cunning as he was and someone as virtuous as Frigga have produced such a fool?
Could it be that Hela had inherited all of his excellent genes, leaving Thor with an underdeveloped brain?
That was what Odin thought, but he didn’t say it aloud.
“You’ve been to Midgard before.
What do you think of the mortals there?”
Odin asked Thor.
Thor thought about the mortals he had encountered on Midgard, and the person who left the deepest impression on him was Jane Foster.
So he answered honestly.
“They’re big, white, and soft, and she has a kind heart.”
Only after saying it did Thor realize that something was wrong.
But it was already too late.
Odin’s face had visibly darkened.
Still, suppressing his anger, Odin continued.
“Then I’ll have you go to Midgard again.
Are you willing?”
“Really?
You’d let me do that?”
Thor was delighted, and all his previous worries instantly disappeared.
Suppressing the urge to beat Thor to death with his staff, Odin kept repeating to himself:
“I gave birth to him.
I gave birth to him.”
After finally suppressing his anger, Odin nodded.
“But I’m not sending you there to play.
You have a mission.”
Thor immediately nodded.
His girlfriend wasn’t important.
The mission was important.
He was only willing to go to Earth because he wanted to help his father with his burdens.
It definitely wasn’t because he wanted to spend time with his girlfriend.
“When you go to Midgard this time, use the name of Asgard to have the mortals help you investigate Hela’s whereabouts.
Understood?”
Odin finally explained his plan.
It was still all for Hela.
Until he dealt with his eldest daughter, Odin wouldn’t be able to enjoy a single peaceful day.
Thor didn’t even properly listen to the entire mission.
His mind was already filled with thoughts of his big, white, soft girlfriend.
As soon as Odin finished speaking, Thor hurriedly nodded, afraid that if he reacted too slowly, Odin might change his mind.
Odin did indeed regret his decision a little now.
He was beginning to feel that Thor wasn’t the right person for the job.
If only Loki were here.
Loki was much more reliable than this idiot Thor.
But in the end, Odin suppressed those thoughts and told Thor to hurry up and leave.
Every extra second he looked at this fool made his heart ache a little more.
After Thor left, Odin slowly rose from the throne of the God King.
His remaining eye gazed across the lands of Asgard, filled with deep affection.
“This is my Asgard, and it will always be my Asgard.”
Odin slowly thought to himself.
As long as he had no intention of stepping down from the throne of the God King, no one could claim the title of king.
Not Hela.
Not Thor.
No one.
He could give the throne away, but his children were not allowed to take it from him.
Because this was his Asgard, the kingdom he had built and led to prosperity.
Many people believed Odin was a kind-hearted old man, especially because of how gentle he appeared in Thor 3.
But very few people knew that when Odin was young, he had been one of the most notorious warmongers in the entire universe.
The legendary Goddess of Death, Hela, was Odin’s most satisfying creation.
But even Hela’s hands were nowhere near as stained with blood as Odin’s.
