I woke up at 4 AM, as usual, and after doing some quick stretches, I completed my morning exercise routine. A quick shower and a small breakfast later, I said goodbye to my parents after getting dressed before making my way towards U.A.
As I opened the classroom door, a few of my classmates turned to me as I entered. Even though the majority of them were still unsure about my personality, unlike yesterday, a familiar voice reached out to me before I could take a couple of steps inside.
"Hey, Arata! Morning!" Kaminari greeted me with enthusiasm.
"Morning. How're you guys doing?" I returned the greeting as I made my way into the classroom. Seems like our little get-together at lunch yesterday broke the ice.
Sero and Kirishima also returned my greeting as I walked past them. While walking over, I greeted several others while ignoring Bakugo and especially Mineta.
‘ I still can't believe they left this little shit room free inside U.A.’ Before taking a seat and turning to have a little chat with Yaoyorozu before class started.
‘ It's easy to forget, but U.A. is really a high school with normal study subjects, huh.’ As we progressed through our class schedule, we had to sit through boring classroom lessons. It wasn't all bad, though, since the pro-heroes who were teaching us knew how to keep class entertaining for teens with superpowers like us.
Like English, which was taught by Present Mic, and who could forget the R-Rated Hero: Midnight, who wore a skin-tight costume that left little to the imagination. With her presence, most of the boys in the classroom were more than focused during her lesson.
Classes went on as usual until after lunch, since it was time for Hero course studies.
"I AM HERE…! COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!”
All Might declared as he entered the classroom while striking a dramatic pose,
'That's definitely not how a normal person walks through the door, but he still looks cool, so I have nothing to say.’
The class instantly exploded into excitement, as the door burst open to reveal All Might in his red-and-yellow themed suit.
"That costume is so silver age!" Tsuyu Asui said as her eyes widened.
"Woah!" Kirishima gasped. "He's really here!”
"The style is making me shiver," said Aoyama.
"Hero Basic Training!" All Might said, ignoring the various comments of my classmates as he marched towards the blackboard behind the teacher's podium and continued flexing his muscles for emphasis.
"This class will put you through all sorts of special training to help us mold you into heroes! You'll also get tons of credits,” he said before taking a piece of chalk.
"No time to waste! Today's activity is this…" His arm shot towards the blackboard where he wrote 'BATTLE ’.
"Battle Training!!" he declared with a smile.
The class barely had time to react to that before he pointed dramatically toward the front of the room.
"And for this training, you'll need these!" All Might gestured to the wall at the side of the classroom, which slid open, revealing multiple briefcases, each numbered from 1 to 20, one for each student.
He continued,
“Your Hero Costumes!! Made in accordance with the request forms you submitted before your admission at U.A., these were specially custom-made and designed to fit every one of you!"
“You will be wearing them for today's exercise." All Might say, still smiling as the whole class stood up in excitement and cheers.
"After you're done changing, you will all assemble at Ground Beta!" He gave his final instruction before leaving us to ourselves.
Immediately after he left, the whole class rushed toward the cases to grab their costumes and try them sooner. I waited until they were done choosing their briefcases before walking over and picking up mine, then I went to the locker rooms so that I could change.
In the changing room, I opened up the case and put on the costume that I had designed after taking off my school uniform. It wasn't my own design since I wasn't that creative. I took inspiration from Jason Todd's Red Hood suit.
The costume consisted of a stylized, full-face red smooth crimson helmet that completely covered my head with dark eye slits equipped with an air filter and temperature control for comfort, but also this was a countermeasure against gaseous attacks like Midnight's Somnambulist quirk.
A dark brown leather biker jacket, reinforced tactical body armor, dark tactical cargo pants paired with heavy military combat boots, black tactical hand gloves and a utility belt.
Packing my things, making sure I didn't forget anything, and making my way out of the changing room. Most of my classmates were done and already waiting on the training ground.
While they turned to observe me, I also did the same. When I finally turned to look at Midoriya, I stopped and did a double-take.
' That's… I knew the suit was going to be like this, and I want to complain about it, but knowing that it was given to him by his mother, all I can do is shake my head.'
Kaminari walked up to me, a wide grin on his face.
"Nice costume, dude! What do you think of mine, great, right?"
I let out a small chuckle,
"Thanks, yours also looks cool," I responded.
"Yeah!”
"Are we all here yet? You are all looking like good students!!" All Might declared before we could say more.
“Now, shall we begin?”
Ida raised his hand,
"Sensei! This appears to be the same testing location used in the Entrance Exams. Will we be performing cityscape maneuvers again?"
All Might raised a finger and shook it,
"No! You will be moving on to the second stage of your training: Indoor Anti-Personnel Battle Training!"
"While villain battles and various misdeeds are most commonly seen outdoors, statistically, the most heinous villains are more likely to appear indoors! So you will be learning how to battle in close quarters and confined areas as well."
"You'll now be split into 2 teams: Villains and Heroes, and face off against each other in a 2 vs 2 indoor battle!”
Tsuyu stepped forward and asked,
"Aren't there any basic training?"
All Might smiled while answering her, "Experience is the best teacher!"
"Can't I just blast everyone away, and how much can I hurt them?" Bakugo said with a grin exited for the response,
"Will the loser team get expelled like with Aizawa-sensei?"Uraraka asked fearfully,
" What are the conditions to achieve victory? " Momo asked in confusion,
"How do we proceed to divide ourselves up in teams? Can we choose whom we want?” Ida, hand still raised, asked,
"Isn't my cape fabulous?” Aoyama asked while posing to show off his cape.
"Calm down, young ones, calm down. Have some patience. I haven't finished explaining everything yet." All Might said, clearing his throat before pulling off cards to read from.
"This is the training scenario: the villains have acquired a nuclear weapon and are now hiding it in their hideout. The heroes have to go take care of it! The hero team must either capture the villains or secure the weapon they are guarding. The villain team must either capture the heroes or protect the weapon until the time for the test runs out. Simple, right?"
"To determine your partners… we'll be drawing lots!. Your partner will be one who drew the same letter as you.”
A few groans rose from the class, likely from those hoping to team up with their friends to have an easy time, while Ida responded in shock,
"Is that really ok sensei?"
Midoriya stepped in to explain before All Might could say a word,
"It makes sense because pro-heroes often have to team up with heroes from other agencies on the spot during emergencies."
"So that's how it is. I apologize for getting ahead of myself, sensei!"
All Might beamed, undeterred,
"It's fine. Now let's draw lots and see who your partners are going to be!"
Without another interruption, the students started taking turns to draw lots. Each of them had a different reaction depending on who their partner was.
After choosing from the lots, my partner turned out to be Katsuki Bakugo.
‘ Is my luck really that shity, can't believe I chose him of all people. This is going to be a headache.’
"Why do I have to be paired up with fish eyes over there? He can't even control his own damn quirk. I want to change my partner! " He yelled to All Might.
‘That makes the two of us, if only you knew.’
"Sorry, young Bakugo, but there is no changing partner once you're done. Now, since everyone has a partner, it's time for the teams to fight." All Might said as he started explaining how the test would proceed. With the first one being us.
"And the first two pairs to fight will be the following!" All Might said.
A vs B. A being Midoriya and Uraraka, B being Bakugo and Arata.
"Pair A will be the heroes. Pair B will be the villains. This scenario has the villains inside the building first. Then, after five minutes, the heroes will be let in as well! Everyone else will be able to watch what unfolds through the surveillance cameras. Young Arata, young Bakugo, you must adapt a villain's mindset to excel in this activity. Naturally, we'll cut it short if things get out of hand.”
