The forest at night was terrifying, with danger lurking everywhere.
Garp was only seven years old, yet his heartless father had thrown him into the forest in the middle of the night.
“Roar!” “Awooo!” The cries of wild beasts echoed through the darkness.
Deep within the forest, predators hunted their next meal, each struggling to survive.
Garp, on the other hand, was here because of a certain bastard’s idea of revenge.
“I’m doing this for your own good.
Don’t blame me.” He had never heard anything so shameless, yet he had no way to argue against it.
“Waaah!
Dad really is trying to kill me!” “What kind of father throws his son into a forest in the middle of the night?
I’m only seven!
Is that something a human being would do?” “Can’t he act like a normal person for once?
He made me throw 100,000 punches during the day, and now he won’t even let me rest!” Garp had eaten a little earlier, but his father had beaten it right back out of him.
Now he was starving, and his exhausted limbs felt unbearably heavy.
Darkness and fear surrounded him, and this wasn’t going to last for only one night.
He had to survive in the forest for three whole days.
That bastard was probably already asleep by now.
He must be gone.
I’ll turn around and leave.
This place is too dangerous for a kid like me.
The more Garp thought about it, the more reasonable it sounded.
His life belonged to him, so naturally, he had to keep it in his own hands.
I am Garp!
How could I let someone else decide whether I live or die?
He cautiously turned around and, after checking his surroundings, began sneaking back toward the forest’s edge.
The next moment, a hand pressed down on his head.
Garp looked up and saw his father.
Before he could explain himself, Jiro threw him straight back into the forest.
“No!” Garp flew deep into the woods before crashing through several branches.
Fortunately, the trees broke his fall, though landing on his backside still hurt terribly.
“Damn you, Dad!
You were actually waiting outside because you didn’t trust me!
This is outrageous!” Garp cursed continuously, unable to accept such treatment.
They were father and son.
How could his old man do this to him?
Then his expression changed.
“Damn it.
The beasts are coming.” The noise from his landing had been far too loud.
Knowing how dangerous it was to remain there, Garp quickly fled.
Several wolves appeared moments after he left.
They sniffed the ground, caught the scent of prey, and immediately gave chase.
Meanwhile, Jiro stood on a nearby tree branch, watching his son run through the forest.
“He’s pretty fast.
My son Garp should be fine.” Naturally, Jiro wasn’t truly comfortable leaving a seven-year-old alone in the forest.
He had no intention of getting his only son killed, so he planned to keep watch from nearby.
If the future Marine Hero died before he had the chance to grow up, Jiro would become a sinner against the entire world.
“My, those footsteps are quick.
That pack of wolves can’t keep up.
Tsk, he actually managed to lose them.” Unlike Luffy, Garp didn’t have a Devil Fruit ability, which made surviving here even harder for him.
But without difficulty, there could be no challenge.
Jiro watched from above without interfering.
This was only a minor danger.
Although the wolves were twice the size of ordinary ones, they weren’t particularly strong.
Garp ran wildly through the forest with the pack close behind, causing such a commotion that it seemed as though he might tear the whole place apart.
After watching for an hour, Jiro began to feel hungry.
He casually caught one of the wolves, knocked it unconscious with a blow to the head, and dragged it home to prepare a meal.
He couldn’t allow himself to go hungry.
As for Garp, there was no need to worry.
Jiro could leave with a clear conscience.
Once home, he skinned the wolf and set the hide aside to be made into clothing.
He roasted the meat and ate the entire wolf by himself.
With his increased strength, Jiro had no reason to fear an ordinary wolf.
The defensive power of Six Powers—Iron Body was no joke, and the animal couldn’t break through it.
Besides, Jiro had attacked from behind and given it no chance to react.
“Eating roasted meat alone is so satisfying.” After finishing the wolf, Jiro returned home and slept soundly.
The next morning, he washed up and went to find his son.
After the previous night’s chaos, the forest had fallen silent.
Following the tracks, Jiro soon located Garp, who was asleep on a tree branch.
His clothes were torn and ragged, and a few minor wounds covered his body.
It seemed he had enjoyed quite an eventful night.
Jiro waited for about an hour before Garp finally woke and rubbed his eyes.
The boy jumped down from the tree, found an open space, and began practicing his punches.
His hardworking son had started training entirely on his own.
A disciplined person was truly frightening.
“Fifty.” “Fifty-one.” “One hundred and fifty-two.” “One hundred and fifty-eight.” Garp continued throwing punches without stopping.
He wasn’t afraid of hard work; he was afraid he wouldn’t become strong enough to take revenge.
“Damn old man.
I’ll train hard and beat you up in a month.” “When the time comes, I’ll throw you into a pirate den and listen to you scream.” “I have to keep training.
I can’t let him off.” Once someone had a goal, there was no need to supervise them.
They would naturally work hard on their own.
“This punch is for his face.
This one is for his stomach.
This one is for his head, and this one is for his leg.” Every part of his father needed a good beating.
Jiro stood in the tree, listening to his son’s “affectionate” words as his forehead twitched.
His dear son was actually planning to beat up his own father.
Wasn’t that a little too rebellious?
“Unbelievable.
This brat is always thinking about hitting me.” But if his son was training hard, how could his father possibly rest?
Garp became stronger through hard work, while Jiro became stronger by “caring” for him.
As long as he cared enough, his own strength would continue to grow.
I have a cheat.
Do you?
[System: …I feel slightly offended.] The first day passed, and Garp made it through safely.
Night arrived once again.
The forest became dangerous after dark, but Garp now had some experience and knew how to avoid most threats.
Seeing him handle things so smoothly, how could Jiro allow his son to grow complacent?
“I’ll have to raise the difficulty.” A mission was a mission, but as Garp’s father, Jiro was free to interfere.
“Enjoy yourself, son.” Not far away, a giant black bear wandered through the forest.
It was remarkably powerful—perfect for Garp to practice against.
When it came to provoking enemies, Jiro considered himself an expert.
It took only a few moves to enrage the bear and make it chase him.
Jiro led it toward Garp, redirected the beast’s fury onto his son, and immediately fled.
The black bear roared in rage and chased Garp through the forest.
Climbing a tree proved useless.
The bear simply used its brute strength to knock the enormous trunk down, determined to tear Garp apart.
Garp didn’t dare look back.
“Damn it!
Why is there a giant black bear here?
Who the hell made it so angry?
Can’t I get even one good night’s rest?” Fortunately, Garp had managed to find something to eat.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had enough strength to outrun the bear.
The beast continued chasing him relentlessly, refusing to let him escape.
A confrontation was inevitable.
Fifteen minutes later, Garp finally turned to face it.
The two exchanged blows, but Garp was weaker and didn’t dare meet the bear’s attacks head-on.
Eventually, he gritted his teeth, swung his small fist, and blocked one of its strikes directly.
His small body was sent flying.
Garp scrambled back to his feet and fled once more, with the black bear close behind.
Watching from above, Jiro saw everything clearly.
Garp’s hand was trembling violently after their fists collided, and it felt as though the bones in his small hand were about to be crushed.
