The one-cubic-meter expanded space on the second floor was packed full of rice, totaling 1,600 jin.

Even eating one jin a day, it would last 1,600 days, more than four years.

It overflowed with a sense of security.Full novel: In the Apocalypse, While Others Slash Zombies, I Feast on Gourmet Food in My RV — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The rest of the second-floor space held 500 jin of flour, fifty 10-liter jugs of cooking oil, and 500 bags of salt, taking up half the storage area.

The other half, including the kitchen cabinet space, was filled entirely with various seasonings.

Meng Shiwan was extremely skilled at arranging things. No excess packaging, no large gaps at all, everything packed tight and solid.

Even a gap the size of a thumb, she’d shove a red date into.

She had plenty of time now, so she could organize slowly.

In the years of the apocalypse, even a single red date would become extremely valuable.

The four-cubic-meter expanded fridge space was divided into one cubic meter of cooked food, one of desserts, one of various meats, and one of seafood.

One cubic meter of meat or seafood weighed roughly 1,900 jin.

Not counting the cooked food and desserts, the meat and seafood alone came to nearly 4,000 jin.

It was enough for her and Taxue to eat for several years.

The expanded two-cubic-meter clean-water tank was filled with bottled mineral water.

The one-cubic-meter medicine cabinet was also packed to the brim.

Under the U-shaped sofa were cat food and the various clothes taken from the outdoor store.

The empty space under the coffee table in the center of the sofa was stuffed with assorted packaged snacks and small drinks.

On the passenger seat, two sets of cold-weather suits lay beneath, and on top were stacked storage boxes of daily necessities like shampoo, body wash, and laundry detergent.

These lasted a long time per bottle, so there was no need to stockpile too many given the limited space.

At the rear of the corridor, several boxes of drinks were stacked, all the small sodas she liked.

It was already 1 a.m., but she felt no sleepiness at all. Instead, the more she stockpiled, the more excited and addicted she became.

Meng Shiwan sat on a high stool in front of the cabinet.

The range hood above the counter was running, and a small pot on the induction stove below was bubbling. Inside was a spicy hot-pot broth, slices of meat and meatballs rolling up and down, looking extremely appetizing.

Around it were vegetables and meat slices for shabu-shabu, plus a roast chicken missing one leg.

There was also a six-inch fruit cake, and a glass beaded with water droplets, filled with a fizzy, clear soda.

All of these were what Meng Shiwan had taken from the supermarket earlier.

When there was food available around her, she absolutely would not eat her stored supplies.

“Taxue, eat and sleep well. Tomorrow we’ll keep killing zombies and finding crystal cores.”

There was still a lot to stockpile, fruit, vegetables, ice cream, bubble tea, all of it.

In extreme heat, an ice-cream bar and an iced bubble tea would be absolute bliss.

The water tanks and fuel tanks needed to be as large as possible too.

Taxue’s bowl sat nearby, filled with fish and shrimp. Without any instruction, it was already on the cabinet, eating happily.

Looking at the obedient cat and the lavish late-night meal before her, the spicy aroma filling her nose, Meng Shiwan felt an indescribable emotion.

Since being reborn today, she’d been busy nonstop. Now that she finally had a moment of quiet, everything felt somewhat dreamlike and melancholy.

The hunger, cruelty, and loss of dignity in the apocalypse were still vivid in her memory.

Now, owning enough food to last several years, everything had already become completely different from her past life.

She stuffed a piece of hot-pot lamb into her mouth, chased it with a sip of chilled drink, and let out a contented sigh.

“So good… so delicious. In this life, I’m definitely going to live like this all the time.”

She drained the drink in one go, then pulled a bottle of plum wine from under the coffee table and poured it over crystal-clear ice cubes.

The ice clinked against the glass with a crisp, pleasant sound under the liquid.

Hot-pot lamb, plum wine, and a bite of soft cake, she’d never felt happiness could be this simple and pure.

In the past, doing fitness training, she’d only eaten clean, healthy meals. Later, during three years of apocalypse, she never again had proper food.

After all she’d experienced, reaching this point, she realized there was nothing more real than the food before her.

She didn’t turn on her phone. In the quiet of deep night, sitting inside the warmly lit RV, she slowly savored every bite.

The world outside was dangerous. She was safe.

Only when every bit of food on the table had been eaten, down to not a single leaf remaining, did Meng Shiwan finally pat her belly in satisfaction, wash the dishes, and clean up the trash.

After that, she took a nice hot shower, changed into a plush pajama set, and lowered the bed above the U-shaped sofa down to the level of the coffee table.

She flipped onto the bed, lay in the soft blankets, and lifted a corner of the quilt. “Taxue, come sleep.”

Taxue jumped up beside her, crawled into the covers, rested its head on her arm, adjusted its position, and settled in comfortably.

Meng Shiwan hugged it and tucked the blanket in. “Xiaozhi, Xiaozhi, turn off all the lights and start air circulation.”

The RV’s smart voice assistant responded, “Yes, Master. All lights are off and the air circulation system is on.”

The RV fell into darkness, and girl and cat slept soundly in the soft bedding.

They slept all the way until midday. Meng Shiwan was woken by Taxue.

The cat’s heavy body lay on her chest, making it hard to breathe.

In her dream, she’d been buried by zombies, and she almost flung Taxue off.

Only after feeling the soft, familiar fur did she come back to herself. She pushed Taxue off and mumbled groggily, “What are you doing? I want to sleep a bit more.”

The moment Taxue heard she still wanted to sleep, it panicked.

It urgently needed to poop, but its servant hadn’t set up a litter box, and the cat was getting desperate.

Seeing Meng Shiwan about to roll over and fall asleep again, Taxue had a flash of inspiration and turned its rear toward her face, then let out a foul-smelling fart.

“Ah!…”

A scream echoed through the RV, startling the survivors hiding in the supermarket so badly they jolted, thinking the ruthless woman had been eaten by zombies.

“Taxue, what did you eat? Why is your fart so disgusting?!”

Hearing the roar, the survivors inside felt a little let down.

The ruthless woman wasn’t dead, nor had she been eaten by zombies, she’d just been taken down by a cat’s stinky fart.

Meng Shiwan flipped out of bed, grabbed Taxue, and rushed into the bathroom, setting it on the toilet.

“No more litter box from now on. Learn to use the toilet, it’s more convenient.”

Taxue, freshly scolded, didn’t dare resist. It awkwardly placed its paws on the toilet rim and, under Meng Shiwan’s watchful gaze, finished its business, even symbolically trying to bury it afterward.

“This is the flush button. When you’re done, press it.”

Meng Shiwan guided its paw through the motion once.

Taxue tilted its head cutely, though it wasn’t clear whether it had understood.
