Twilight over the newly christened Star-Valley did not plunge the land into cold darkness. Instead, as the multiversal sun dipped below the jagged silhouette of the upper canyon crags, the thousands of star-wheat stalks and glowing star-grape vines began to emit a soft, pulsing amber-and-sapphire luminescence. The air was thick with the rich scent of blooming empyrean flora and clean, mineral-infused spring water.

In the center of the newly established encampment, a long wooden table—crafted swiftly from resilient local timber—was set with a warm, hearty evening meal.

Little Mia laughed merrily as the sleek star-fox guardian bounded across the soft grass, its silver tail leaving trails of harmless starlight in the evening breeze. Elena sat near the head of the table, smiling gently as she watched her daughters share stories of the day’s successful soil stabilization.Full novel: Infinite Universe Lord: Awakening Beyond the Cosmos — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

A few paces away, standing near the edge of the terraced slope that overlooked the western canyon pass, Arthur and Lily watched the horizon.

"Chloe’s perimeter runes are holding at one hundred percent efficiency," Lily murmured softly, her dark eyes reflecting the gentle glow of the valley. She held a cup of warm herbal tea in her hands, taking a quiet sip before looking up at Arthur. "The soil has completely absorbed the higher-plane ambient pressure. But Kaelen won’t let this go, Arthur. A humiliated aristocrat with a bruised ego is more dangerous than a wild shadow beast."

Arthur rested his right hand on his sturdy wooden walking stick, his dark gaze fixed on the shifting grey mists rolling along the distant canyon rim. "He’s already made his move," Arthur said calmly.

Lily’s eyes narrowed slightly. "You sense them?"

"The spatial distortion on the western ridge isn’t natural," Arthur replied, a quiet, razor-sharp focus settling into his posture. "Kaelen didn’t just send scrying crystals this time. He sent a clean-up crew."

Almost on cue, a sharp, urgent chime rang out across the camp’s internal network.

Chloe leaped to her feet from her holographic console near the center terrace, her star-glass spectacles flashing in the amber light. "Arthur! Lily! Multiple high-tier spatial signatures just bypassed our outer warning array! They’re coming up the western pass—heavy combat armor, military-grade suppression fields!"

Before Chloe even finished her warning, a violent crackle of blue lightning rent the evening air over the western ridge.

CRACK-BOOM!

A contingent of five heavily armored figures dropped from the mist onto the rocky outcrop overlooking the valley floor.

They were the Zenith Enforcers—elite, merciless mercenaries in gleaming astral-titanium plating that hummed with erratic, high-voltage electrical energy. Each warrior wielded a heavy, broad-bladed power sword crackling with jagged lightning arcs, their visors glowing with a cold, predatory blue light.

At their head stood Commander Thrax, a scarred veteran of the higher-plane border wars whose aura radiated formidable lower-tier ascendant power. He looked down at the vibrant, glowing Star-Valley with undisguised contempt.

"Look at this pathetic little garden," Thrax barked, his amplified voice echoing harshly across the canyon walls. "Lord Kaelen wants this plot wiped clean. Burn the terraces, crush the core anchor, and leave no trace of these peasants!"

"Enforcers, advance!" Thrax roared, raising his lightning sword.

The five elites charged down the terraced slope in a synchronized, wedge formation designed to shatter spatial boundaries at a single strike.

Down in the valley, the family didn’t panic. Training and trust had turned the ten sisters into a cohesive, coordinated defense unit.

"Sarah, Anna, anchor the southern terraces!" Lily commanded sharply, her voice ringing with cool authority as she drew her own polished silver shortbow, her fingers nocking an empyrean-tipped arrow in a single fluid motion.

"On it!" Sarah and Anna shouted in unison. With practiced precision, they channeled domain energy into the soil, causing thick, glowing vines of star-wheat to erupt from the ground, weaving themselves into an elastic, living barrier along the path of the oncoming enforcers.

The Zenith Enforcers slammed headfirst into the living vine barrier.

ZAP! CRACK!

Instead of snapping like ordinary plants, the empyrean vines absorbed the electrical discharge of the enforcers’ armor, pulsing with brilliant blue-gold light and wrapping tightly around their boots and gauntlets, locking two of the vanguard mercenaries in place.

"What is this vegetation?!" one of the trapped enforcers snarled, swinging his lightning sword frantically to hack through the glowing vines.

"It’s called agriculture," Anna called back with a bright, sarcastic grin.

Commander Thrax slashed his broadsword through the vines with a burst of raw thermal energy, freeing himself and glaring murderously down at the family terrace. "Useless fools! Focus your attacks on the center core! Tear down that farmhouse!"

Thrax leaped forward, propelling himself through the air with a jet-assisted burst of astral energy, aiming a devastating downward cleave directly at the central terrace where Elena and little Mia were standing.

"Not on my watch," Arthur said quietly.

In a blur of motion, Arthur stepped forward. He didn’t wait for Thrax to land; he unzipped his leather shoulder bag with his left hand and drew the dark, humming Void-Steel Blade with his right.

The moment the blade cleared the leather, its pure empyrean blue glow cut through the dark evening air like a falling star.

Arthur swung the blade upward in a clean, elegant parry.

CLANG—!!!!!

The resulting shockwave flattened the nearby star-wheat stalks in a wide circle, sending a blinding flash of blue-and-silver light echoing across the canyon.

Thrax’s eyes widened behind his glowing visor as his lightning sword came to a dead stop against Arthur’s blade. The intense electrical discharge of Thrax’s weapon hissed harmlessly against the Void-Steel Blade, dissolving into sparkling silver mist as the higher-plane empyrean energy neutralized the mechanical voltage.

"How... how does a fledgling lord possess an anti-matter blade?!" Thrax choked out, fighting against the sudden, overwhelming pressure pushing back against his arms.

"Your master made a fundamental mistake," Arthur said coldly, his dark eyes locking onto Thrax’s visor with absolute, unshakeable authority. "He thinks power comes from heavy plating and borrowed lightning. True strength comes from the land you protect."

With a sudden, explosive twist of his wrists, Arthur channeled the full, unbridled vitality of the Star-Valley straight through the blade.

CRACK!

Thrax’s high-tier astral-titanium broadsword fractured down the center, shattering into a thousand useless metallic shards. The shockwave swept upward, striking Thrax squarely in the chest plate and sending him hurtling backward across the terraced slope like a stone skipping across water.

THUD!

Thrax slammed hard into the rocky western ridge, sliding down into the dirt before slumping unconscious against a boulder. His high-voltage armor sparked once, twice, and then went entirely dead.

Seeing their commander defeated in a single exchange, the remaining four Zenith Enforcers froze in absolute terror. They looked at Arthur, then at their shattered weapons, and collectively decided that self-preservation was far more important than Lord Kaelen’s gold.

"Retreat! Fall back!" one enforcer shouted.

In a scramble of panic and activated teleportation beacons, the surviving enforcers dissolved into streaks of blue light, vanishing back toward the upper crags before the dust had even settled.

Silence settled over the Star-Valley once more, save for the gentle rustle of the star-wheat and the bubbling murmur of the empyrean stream.

Lily lowered her silver shortbow, letting out a soft, relieved breath. She walked over to Arthur as he carefully slid the Void-Steel Blade back into his leather shoulder bag.

"They won’t be sending enforcers back in a hurry," Lily said, a proud, affectionate smile touching her lips as she adjusted the collar of his shirt. "You handled that with absolute precision."

"We handled it together," Arthur corrected gently, looking around the valley as the rest of the family gathered near the terrace.

Chloe walked up, tapping her holographic ledger with a triumphant grin. "I just traced the telemetry of their teleportation beacons. The signal bounced straight back to Lord Kaelen’s private residential estate in the Second Realm. He knows we didn’t just survive—we completely dismantled his hit squad."

"Good," Arthur said, turning his gaze toward the eastern horizon where the stars of the higher planes spun in majestic orbits. "Let Kaelen know that if he wants to challenge the Starlight Domain, he’ll have to come down to the valley himself."

A bright, triumphant musical chime rang out inside Arthur’s mind, sealing the skirmish and marking another milestone in their multiversal expansion:

"Encounter successfully concluded! Defeated the Zenith Enforcers, defended Plot 404, and established absolute tactical dominance in the First Realm. Earned 2,500 multiversal experience points, unlocked Advanced Spatial Shielding blueprints, and granted the regional title: Guardian of the Star-Valley!"

Arthur smiled warmly, putting his arm around Lily’s shoulders as the family returned to the dining table to finish their meal under the brilliant canopy of the cosmos. The higher planes were vast, dangerous, and full of ambitious rivals—but the Starlight Domain was rooted deeper than stars, and their journey was only beginning.
