The moment the final bell rang, Mia stepped out of her class and made her way to the front of the school.
There she saw Kevin already waiting with his car parked, waving towards her.
” Let’s go.” She said after getting in.
” What?
Aren’t we waiting for William.”
” William can get home on his own, besides, you promised you’d help me out today, remember.”
” Uhh sure, but what about your job?
How long do we have exactly.” Kevin asked as he turned on the engine.
” I already called in and told them I wouldn’t make it today.
So let’s go.”
” Well you’re in such a hurry.” Kevin laughed a bit.
But as he gently stepped on the accelerator, he took his feet off it right after.
A girl just so happened to have stopped in front of them and waved towards Mia before walking over.
‘ Eve?’ Kevin was surprised to see her.
‘ What’s she doing here…’ Mia on the other hand felt a bit uncomfortable seeing her.
” A friend of yours?” Kevin turned to Mia and asked.
” You could say that.” Mia said with a forced smile.
” Hey.” Mia said to Eve who bent down, using her elbows to support herself on the door frame.
” I was hoping we’d talk after school, but I didn’t know you were in such a hurry to leave.” Eve said before glancing at Kevin for a moment before whispering to Mia.
” You two already made plans before hand?’ she asked.
” Yes, that’s right.
Sorry I couldn’t stay to chat but we really have to go.”
” We’re you both heading to exactly?
A crime scene?
You planning on catching someone?”
” Wait– she knows?” Kevin glanced at Mia with suprise.
” You told her?”
” More like she figured it out on her own.” Mia said with a forced smile.
” You can call me Eve, or Atom Eve…
And you’re?”
” Kevin?” He said, confused why she’d ask since they said they told her about him already.
” I think she was asking about your hero alias.” Mia said.
” Yeah, that’s right.” Eve said.
” Alias?” Kevin paused for a moment.
” I don’t really have one at the moment.”
” Well we really need to get going, you promised you’d help me train remember?” Mia reminded him again, though her tone sounded a bit strange.
” Can I tag along?
” What–” Mia froze, she wasn’t expecting this, she was hoping Eve would take the hint and leave instead.
” Oh, really?
That’d be great.” Kevin said, while he had used the watch to save people time and time again, he still wasn’t as experienced in the hero department, getting first hand help from a veteran felt like a big help to him.
Kevin pushed a button and unlocked the back seat for her.
” Thanks.” Eve said before getting into the back.
” You ready?” Kevin turned towards Mia with a sunny smile.
” …Sure” Mia replied, though her smile looked a bit forced.
And with a rev of the engine, the car sped off, quickly leaving the school premises.

Some time later, the trio arrived in a deserted spot out of the city.
Kevin brought his car to a drifting stop.
” Did we really have to come all the way out here?” Mia turned to him and said.
” Seems a bit overkill don’t you think?” She added.
” Well sometimes it’s best to be careful with things like this, trust me, the last thing you’d want is someone accidentally figuring out your secret identity.” Eve said.
” Exactly.” Kevin said with enthusiasm.
‘ Guess she doesn’t really know the extent of her powers just yet.’ Kevin said to himself.
Mia couldn’t help furrowing her brows.
The three of them then stepped out of the car.
” So what now?” Mia raised a brow, there was nothing around her but open land and trees, making the place feel drafty.
” Now we test out your power’s.” Kevin said with a smirk before beginning to twist his watch.
” Luckily I got just the guy for the job.”
Eve watched with intrigued eyes.
‘ Let’s go!
Four arms!’ Kevin slapped his hand down on the raised dial.
A bright flash of green light covered his figure for a moment before diminishing, revealing…
” ….XLR8?” Kevin smacked his hand against his face when he saw the alien he had become.” Go figure.” He mumbled with helplessness.
” I thought it was incredible but seeing it first hand really is something else, does that turn you into whatever monster you want?” Eve couldn’t help but ask.
” They’re aliens not monsters and yeah…”
‘ Well…
Sometimes anyway.’ Kevin said to himself.
” So what now?” Mia spoke up again.
” …Now.” Kevin said, his bioorganic visor coming down before he turned into a blur and emerged behind her.
” I want you to try and catch me.”
” Huh?
But I thought her power was super strength?” Eve questioned.

‘ Well I’m supposed to.’ she said to herself, she knew her father possessed a full set of amazing abilities, but since she hadn’t really tried herself, she wasn’t exactly sure if she currently had the rest of them.
” Well we don’t have all day.” Kevin blurred past her again.
Mia nodded.
She took a deep breath before her gaze turned stern.
WHOOSH!
Her feet caused the ground beneath her to cave in, before she sped off like a bullet.
‘ It worked!
It actually worked!’ Mia thought to herself as she ran around the both of them in circles, causing the wind to blow about erratically.
” That’s great!
You’re doing great Mia.” Kevin cheered her on.
” Maybe a bit too great.” Eve struggled to say as she tried her best to remain standing against the strong raging wind that was quickly picking up.
A pink glow filled her hands before a transparent pink dome surrounded her.
But with how strong the wind was, it wasn’t difficult to see that in time, even this done might be in danger.
‘ She’s using too much of her power along with her speed.’ Kevin realised because whenever he saw Omni man use his speed in the series, it was far less noticeable than this.
” …Mia” Kevin called out to her.
” Yeah?” Mia said, her heart pumping with adrenalin as her speed continued to rise.
The feeling of using her powers like this was clearly exhilarating.
” That was a great start but I’m afraid we need you to stop right now.” Kevin said, a hint of worry in his voice.
Right now his visor was down because of all the dust that made it hard to see.
“I’M TRYING!” Mia said yet the next moment, her expression couldn’t help but turn awkward.
” Umm…
Kevin, how exactly do I stop?!!!”
” What do you mean how do you stop, just stop!” Kevin yelled.
” But what if I fall!” She retorted, the adrenaline from earlier quickly vanishing, now replaced with apprehension.
” It’s alright, you won’t get hurt.” Kevin said.
” How do you know that!” She yelled, still very much worried.
” We don’t know if I have durability right now.
If I fall, I might end up in the hospital or maybe worse, crippled!”
‘ You’ve gotta be kidding me.’ Kevin gritted his teeth.
Realising that things were getting too out of hand.
Kevin sped to Eve’s dome before knocking on it, gesturing for her to drop it.
Eve nodded before doing as he asked.
Before the wind could carry her off, he picked her up then sped out of the raging whirlwind.
By now, the whirlwind had already begun uprooting trees and rocks from the surroundings.
” Stay here, I’ll be back in a–” Kevin’s words stuck in his throat when he saw something in particular that was pulled into the whirlwind.
” MY CAR!!!!” His tail stood on end seeing his car being thrown about in the whirlwind.
