” HUAHH~” Mia yawned as she got up on her bed.
She rubbed her eyes, her face looking groggy.
There were faint bags beneath her eyes.
After what happens during dinner, she’d spent the entire night arguing with her father about why she hid her powers from him, as well as why she wouldn’t let him kill Kevin.
Knock~ Knock~
” What is it now~” she groaned, annoyed that they’d be looking for her even now, couldn’t they just let her be at peace for a few seconds.
” Sweetie, it’s mom, could you please come downstairs for a second, there’s someone who’d like to talk with you.”
‘ Kevin?’ Was the first thought that crossed her mind.
‘ But why would he come so early.’
‘ Don’t tell me he’s trying to talk things out with dad.’ no matter how dumb she found the idea, she knew it was still something he would honestly do.
To her, he was too nice for his own good.
” Alright mom, I’ll be out in a sec.” Mia said, getting up to get dressed.
She had no intentions of letting her see her like this, especially with her morning hair and breath.
Plus she had school this morning, so it wouldn’t hurt to get ready.

As she came down the stairs, she saw her parents in the living room with someone.
” Morning mom.” Mia said, hugging her mother.
” Morning sweetie.” Debby hugged her daughter before giving her a quick kiss on the forehead.
Mia didn’t say a word to her Dad, instead staring at their guest.
” Morning Mr?”
” Morning Mia, Cecil Steadman, head of the Global Defence Agency.
I’m a friend of your father’s.” Cecil offered her a handshake, which she took.
” So why are you here?”
” Cecil’s here to tell you what I already did yesterday.” Nolan spoke up.
” What?” Mia paused.
Turning to her mother, but Debby said nothing, looking uncomfortable herself.
” Well you’re fathers technically right.” Cecil said before pulling up a hologram displaying a body image of Kevin along with several other data.
” While we’re still not sure whether he’s a young man with sinister motives, I suggest you listen to your father and remain cautious of him.” Cecil said.
” We did some digging and found out that while his credentials are all accounted for, there’s one little issue.”
” And that is?”
” That, most of them don’t add up.” Cecil revealed.
” Information about the hospital he was born in, the school he went to, his parents, e.t.c None of which our operatives have been able to trace despite our efforts.”
” Although his social security number is valid along with his National Identity and other vital credentials.”
” His only active social footprint’s are taking part in the trade industry, as well as his part time superhero activities–”
” S-So you’re saying he’s some kind of fake?”
” We still aren’t sure what he is yes, but rest assured, we will get down to the bottom o–” Mia didn’t wait for him to finish before running out the door.
” Mia!” Debby called out to her, but Nolan held her back.
” Don’t worry, I’ll go after her.” Nolan said.

” I’m out, I’m out!
Stop pressing it so much!” An annoyed Kevin answered the door.
” Oh, it’s just you–” Kevin let out a breath that turned to a gasp at the last minute when she dragged him out of his house and onto the lawn.
Kevin rolled on the floor before stopping.
” Is this some kind of wake up ritual or something!” He grumbled, sounding annoyed as he got up, dusting himself off.
” Tell me it’s a lie!” Mia yelled at him, her clenched fist trembling.
” I want you to look me in the eye and tell me it’s a lie.”
” That what’s a lie?
You’re not exactly making any sense right now.”
” That your a fake.” Mia whispered so as not to cause a scene.
“My Dad’s in there with one of his work buddies and they say that your whole life is a lie.”
‘ Wait, he called Cecil?’ Kevin was stumped.
He really didn’t expect Nolan to do something like this, after all, he didn’t exactly get along with the guy.
” You’re face just changed…
Hold up, did you predict this?
Like you predicted who my dad was, is that why you tried to get so close to me all this time.” Mia bit her lower lip, looking more and more frustrated.
” I think you’re focusing on the wrong thing here, I didn’t even know who your Dad was when we first met!”
” Then why you couldn’t answer when my dad asked about which highschool you went to?
Because you never did go to one.”
” What?
Of course not, I did.”
” Then how come your school doesn’t even exist.”
” Because my high school isn’t from around here!” Kevin blurred out in the heat of the moment, only to pause the next moment.
” What?” Mia froze.
” What exactly do you mean by that.”
” It’s complicated.”
” It’s complicated because you don’t trust me, or it’s complicated because you don’t want to admit he’s right…”
” Look Mia, I know how this looks, but I promise you, I never had any intentions to hurt you.” Kevin said as he slowly walked up to her.
” But you did have plans to hurt my father.” Mia said, her body tense.
Hearing her say that, Kevin unconsciously stopped in his tracks.
‘ Is she right?
Did I really only want to get rid of Omni-Man?’ Kevin couldn’t help but think to himself.
Ever since he got the Omnitrix and realised he was in the Invincible verse, the only thing he thought of was how to take care of Omni-Man.
Had his actions of befriending her unconsciously been to pit her against her father in the end?
Or to save her from her own sorry fate.
Right now he didn’t know which was true.
Seeing his reaction, a look of hurt emerged on her face.
” So it was true.” She muttered.
” All you cared about was my Dad and not me….”
‘ No…
That’s not it.’
‘ I want to tell you, but I’m not sure you’ll believe me even if I did.’ Kevin thought, only to pause for a second as he thought about it.
‘ Wait a moment, why wouldn’t she believe me?’ he thought.
‘ Is traveling between dimensions really that big of a deal here?’
‘ I’m not a criminal so what am I trying so much to hide?.’ Kevin said to himself as he stared at her.
Seeing her so confused and hurt was beginning to eat at him inside no matter how much he tried to deny it.
” Mia listen–” Kevin built some courage and reached out to her.
” Stop it!
I’m done listening to anymore of your lies!” Mia shrugged him off.
” But that’s the thing, I don’t want to lie anymore–”
” I said stay away from me!” Mia yelled, slapping his hand away.
CRACK~!
‘ Fxck!’
” MMMGHNNN!!!!” Kevin dropped to his knees and carefully held his broken right hand that was now bent at an unnatural angle, beeds of sweat on his forehead as he tried his best to endure the pain.
” No no no no.” Mia seeing what she’d done, began to murmur in fear.
” I really didn’t mean to–”
” Don’t worry miss, we’ll take it from here.” Before Mia could continue, several men and women in black suits came rushing over.
” Set up the stretcher.”
” Done.”
” Good thing I cleared the area beforehand.” Mia turned around to see Cecil and her father walking over.
” D-Dad…” Mia who was overwhelmed by emotions ran towards her father.
” Oof~ not so strong sweetie.” Nolan said with a light smile as he held her close.
” I’m so sorry for not believing you, I didn’t mean to hit you last night, I just thought–”
” It’s alright sweetie, accidents happen.” Nolan gently caressed her to calm her down.
” Is he going to be ok?” Mia asked Cecil, staring back at Kevin for a moment.
” You don’t need to worry about him, We’ll be sure to patch him back up, and after that, we’ll ask him a few questions to clear up all this misunderstanding–”
” Stop carrying me!” Kevin cried out while holding his injured arm.
‘ Damnit, at this rate they’ll think I’m some kind of supervillain.’ Kevin cursed his lock.
He used his left eye to poke one of the men in black in the eye.
Forcing him to let go of the stretcher.
As the man winced in pain, Kevin used the opportunity to reach into his pocket before taking out a pill which he popped into his mouth.
‘ Never thought I’d get to use this so soon.’ During his spare time, he’d created a rapid healing pill using grey matter for moments like this when Mia accidentally lost control of her powers.
All the men and women in suits were secretly taken aback as his broken arm rapidly healed before returning to normal.
” Stop trying to resist!” But they didn’t let him try anything else, pulling out their weapons and aiming it at him.
” I’m not trying to fight!” Kevin yelled with his hands raised as he slowly got up before turning towards Cecil, Mia and Nolan.
” I just want explain myself…
Can’t I at least do that much?”
When he saw no change in their reaction.
He sighed before getting down on his knees with his hands behind his back.
Cecil stared at him calmly before nodding.
Seeing this, Kevin let out a sigh of relief.
PITUI~!
A dart shot into his neck.
” F*CK.” Was the only thing Kevin said before dropping down face first.
” Don’t worry, it’s meant to only knock him unconscious.” Cecil explained when Mia turned towards him.
