Kevin eventually came through, but the moment he did, he found himself seated on the floor of a white spacious room.
” You can’t be serious…” He said, obviously not happy.
CLANG~
” Oh real appropriate.” When he saw some kind of metal restriction covering the watch, he became even more unhappy.
” We’re glad you’re finally awake.” A voice sounded from all the corners of the room.
” Please don’t take this to heart, we didn’t know much about you, hence the restrictions.”
” My name’s Cynthia, I’m an operative of the GDA, and we’d like to ask you a few questions.”
” I was about to tell you all before you shot me with a dart gun!” Kevin said.
” Isn’t this against the law or something, you basically kidnapped me!”
” Please try to calm down, we understand that you might feel uncomfortable with your current situation, but the sooner you answer our questions, the sooner you can leave.”
Within one of the countless rooms in the pentagon, a suited female GDA agent was seated before a terminal.
Next to her was Cecil and his trusted right hand, Donald.
Both focused on the screen.
While Cecil found something like this a waste of his time, Kevin’s case had ended up sparking his interest.
For even his own forces to end up with nothing after looking into him, it told him the young man on the screen wasn’t as simple as he claimed to be.
On the screen was real time footage of Kevin in the white room.
” Of course we have to evaluate if your words are true.” The woman spoke into her headset.
” And how are you going to tell if I’m lying?” The guy on the screen asked, curious.
” You need not worry, that device on your wrist serves as more than a means to restrict your powers.” The woman said.
” All you have to do is answer honestly, and we’ll gladly release you as soon as possible.”
Kevin glanced around the white room before approaching the walls.
ZAP~!
” Ow~!” He quickly retracted his hand after being shocked.
” Please refrain from doing that, the walls are constantly charged by a constant amount of electrical current.”
” I thought you said you people only wanted to talk?” Kevin sneered, a flash of self ridicule flashing past his eyes.
” Give me that for a second.” Cecil gestured towards the agent’s headset.
” Here you go sir.” The female agent replied respectfully, taking off the communicator and handed it to him.
Cecil then put it on before speaking.
” Listen to me kid, you don’t want to try anything stupid in there, all you have to do is tell us what we want to know and everybody gets to go home.”
” Is this really how you treat your heroes.” Kevin said with a frown.
” Heroes?
Listen kid, you only saved a few people from robbers and muggers, don’t get ahead of yourself.”
” No need dragging this out, you here me.” Cecil said.
Kevin turned silent on the screen as if contemplating.
Eventually, he let out a sigh before nodding.
” Alright, what do you wanna know.”
” First off, start with who you are and where exactly you came from.” Cecil said.
Kevin nodded before telling him about his situation, how he was someone from a different universe all together, as for how he ended up here, he had no idea.
When asked about the watch, he told them the truth, that he only found it by accident and ever since, has been using it to help people.
” So you’re saying you have no motives that led to you moving near the Grayson’s, nor anything that pushes you to befriend his daughter?”
Cecil ignored the obvious sarcastic remark, instead glancing at the female agent by the terminal.
” Everything he says is true, Sir.
At least, that’s what the machine says.” She said.
“….” Cecil turned silent.
In truth, he hadn’t expected everything to be one whole big coincidence.
” Should I go and let him out now, Sir?” Donald said.
” Yes, please do Donald.” Cecil grumbled.
” I can’t believe I got roped up into something like this.” He said as he walked towards the door.
” Remind me to tell Nolan to deal with his personal problems on his own next time.” Cecil stepped out of the room and the door closed behind him.
As for Kevin, he couldn’t be bothered to see him out himself.
After coming to learn that there wasn’t anything serious going on.

Kevin stood in the white room in silence.
All of a sudden, a part of one wall sized like a door, slid aside, revealing an entrance, in which someone used to walk into the room.
” Well that didn’t take long.” Kevin said, seeing Donald walk into the room.
” You may call me Donald, On behalf of the GDA, I hope you can forgive us for this incident.” Donald said as he walked up to him.
Kevin didn’t look surprised to see that Cecil wasn’t here in person to apologise, to someone like him, a rookie hero like himself probably wasn’t worth his time.
” Can you please take this off now?” Kevin shook his wrist with the restriction on it.
” Of course, allow me.” Donald tapped on the metal surface which revealed a screen, after inputting a series of codes.
SHHHH~
CLACK~!
The restriction on his wrist came right off, dropping to the floor.
” I’m guessing there’s something else you have to tell me before you go.”
” Indeed…
While it seems unfair, we’d like for you to please move away from the Grayson’s to avoid any complications.”
” You mean you don’t want me pissing off Omni-Man by coming back there.” Kevin laughed lightly.
It was obvious the GDA was playing favourites, much so that they weren’t against stepping on his civil rights.
While Kevin was a bit angry, since they constantly kept looking down on him, he didn’t take it to heart.
He wasn’t an idiot, and while the idea of pissing off the GDA felt good in his head, he didn’t want to make any unnecessary enemies if he could help it.
” You don’t need to tell me that, I was already expecting it.” Kevin shook his head a bit.
” After last night, that Man definitely wouldn’t be happy to see me.”
” I’m expecting there to be sufficient compensation in this, for me?”
” Yes, once you’ve left, we’ll transfer it directly into your account.” Donald nodded, he was secretly happy that Kevin wasn’t trying to resist at all, which made his job easier.
He was expecting him to at least try to refuse but it seemed the young man Infront of him was more mature than he expected.
” Once you step out of this room, they’ll be two agents waiting to escort you back.”
” Alright.” Kevin nodded before walking towards the door.
” One more thing.” But he paused when Donald spoke, turning around to look at him.
” Yes?” Kevin raised a brow.
” We would appreciate it if you kept the Grayson families secrets under wraps.”
” You don’t have anything to worry about, the last thing I want is a pissed off Omni-Man coming after me.”
” I’m glad.” Donald nodded.
And then, Kevin left for good.

Donald held true to his word.
Kevin was escorted back without any issues.
Rather than heading straight back to his house.
He called Paul and informed him of his plans to sell it, as well as look for a new one.
Paul of course was a bit worried, questioning why he now wanted to sell it and get a new one, but Kevin managed to calm him down after a good chat.
Since he had nowhere to stay, he decided to make a call to someone.
At the same time, someone else was on a call as well.

” You did what?” Nolan’s angry voice came from the other end of the line.
” I said I let the kid go.” Cecil said on his phone while walking through the pentagon.
” Listen, we talked to the boy, he isn’t gunning after you.”
” So what are you saying.”
” That you just ruined your daughter’s relationship for no reason.”
” You really think this is the time to be joking.” Nolan said.
” Well if it makes you feel any better, the kid won’t be living next to your daughter anymore.
”
” What?”
” I had him move away, since I can’t trust you not to do anything stupid.” Cecil said.
” Next time, maybe don’t jump to conclusions.”
” Umm Sir.” Donald caught up to Cecil.
” Looks like I’ve got a job to do, take care of yourself, Nolan.” Cecil said before hanging up.
Back at home…
Nolan stared at his phone with a stern look on his face.
The fact that Cecil released the boy really didn’t sit well with him.
After learning from his daughter that he’d been the one who stepped up to help her control her powers instead of him, he felt even more displeased that she hid such news from him and instead revealed it to a complete stranger like him.
” Dad?
Are you done with your call.” Mia walked down the stairs.
” I’m ready to go.” She said with a nervous yet eager look on her face.
The both of them had planned to go out and properly train together, like father and daughter, after the reveal earlier that day, Mia didn’t go to school, and he didn’t fault her for it since it gave him such a wonderful opportunity.
Seeing her like this, he calmed down a bit.
” Alright sweetie, let’s go.” Nolan nodded with a light smile on his face.
