I woke up and just stared at the ceiling for a while.

My head felt heavy.

i didn’t sleep properly again.

every time I closed my eyes, my mind went back to Kiefer.

I hated that.

I hated how he was the first thing I thought about when I woke up and somehow the last thing I thought about before sleeping.

I finally got out of bed and got ready.

I didn’t feel like talking to anyone.

I didn’t feel like seeing anyone.

But staying home would only make me think more, so I went.

When I reached university, everything looked normal.

People were talking.

Friends were laughing together.

Some were rushing to class because they were late.

I walked through all of it quietly.

I saw Ella and Sophia near the hallway.

They noticed me.

“Lily!” ella called me I stopped for a second.

She smiled and waved at me.

Normally, I would’ve walked over.

Normally, I would’ve said something.

But I didn’t.

I just gave her a small smile and kept walking.

I heard Sophia say something to Ella behind me.

I didn’t turn around.

I didn’t want to explain anything.

I didn’t want anyone asking me if I was okay.

Because I didn’t know what to say.

Was I okay?

No.

But how was I supposed to explain that?

How was I supposed to tell them that I couldn’t stop thinking about someone who didn’t even think about me?

So I went to class and sat in the back.

Alone.

I opened my notebook.

I didn’t write anything.

I just stared at the empty page.

My hands were still slightly shaky.

I put them under the desk.

I didn’t want anyone to notice.

During the break, everyone left the classroom.

Ella and Sophia were talking near the door.

Ella looked at me.

“Lily, are you coming?” she asked I shook my head.

“No.

I’ll stay here.” i said She looked at me for a second.

“Are you sure?” she said “Yeah.” i said She nodded and left with Sophia.

The classroom became quiet.

I looked at the empty seats around me.

A strange feeling hit me.

I had people.

I had friends.

But somehow, I still felt completely alone.

And I knew why.

Because the person I wanted wasn’t there.

I closed my eyes.

I knew I was becoming obsessed.

I knew it wasn’t healthy.

I knew I needed to stop.

But knowing something and being able to stop it were two different things.

I opened my phone.

I didn’t even realize what I was doing until I was already looking at Kiefer’s profile.

I stared at his picture.

Then I locked my phone.

“No.” I whispered.

I put it away.

For five minutes, I didn’t touch it.

Then I picked it up again.

I hated myself.

I really did.

I was becoming someone I didn’t recognize.

JAY POV I noticed Lily again that day.

She was sitting alone.

At first, I didn’t think much of it.

Maybe she just wanted some quiet.

But then I realized something.

She wasn’t just sitting alone.

She had been alone for days.

I looked toward Ella and Sophia.

They were sitting together, talking and laughing.

Lily wasn’t with them.

That was strange.

She used to spend time with them.

Now she barely even looked at them.

I watched from across the hallway.

Ella called her over once.

Lily smiled and said something, but she didn’t move.

Sophia looked at her for a moment before following Ella away.

I felt a little sad seeing it.

Lily was pushing everyone away.

Maybe she didn’t even realize she was doing it.

I didn’t know what was going through her head.

But I could guess.

Kiefer.

It always came back to him.

I looked at her again.

She was sitting with her phone in her hand.

She stared at the screen for a few seconds, then locked it.

A minute later, she opened it again.

I looked away.

I didn’t want to invade her privacy.

But something about the way she was acting bothered me.

She looked lonely.

Not the normal kind of lonely.

She looked like she had completely disconnected from everyone around her.

I remembered what she had looked like outside the university yesterday.

Her shaking hands.

Her heavy breathing.

The way she had stood there by herself before walking away.

And now she was sitting alone again.

I wondered if anyone knew what she was going through.

Did Ella know?

Did Sophia know?

Did anyone?

Probably not.

Because Lily wasn’t telling anyone.

She wasn’t even talking to the people who cared about her.

I looked at her for a few more seconds.

Part of me still remembered what she had done and wasn’t going to pretend that everything was okay between us but I couldn’t hate her for struggling.

I just wished she would talk to someone.

Anyone.

She looked down at her hands again.

They were slightly shaking.

I sighed quietly.

Maybe she really was losing herself.

And the scary thing was…

I didn’t know if anyone could reach her anymore.
