(Do read author’s note at last… it’s imp…😊)
JAY’S POV
“I—uhm—can you…” I cleared my throat, trying to steady my voice.
“Can you help me with the zip?”
He raised a single eyebrow, staring down at me with that infuriating smirk.
“Sure.”
I stepped back from the door to let him in, turning around so that my back was facing him.
He moved behind me, his fingers brushing my bare shoulder as he reached for the zipper.
I stiffened, my grip tightening on the dress as if it were the only thing keeping me grounded.
“Looks like zippers are on a mission today,” he teased.
“More like a war,” I shot back, trying to keep the mood light.
He chuckled, the deep sound echoing in the empty closet, making my heart skip a beat.
His fingers worked the zipper, slow and careful.
I felt the tug as it finally gave way.
As the zipper glided down the length of the dress, the fabric parted with a soft whisper, revealing my skin beneath.
But then his finger brushed my bare skin—just a graze—but it sent a shiver through me, igniting a mix of anticipation and vulnerability in the air.
My grip loosened, the dress sliding further.
I gasped, trying to catch it.
Suddenly, Keifer’s hands shot out, catching the sleeves before the dress could hit the ground.
He slowly settled the sleeves back on my shoulders, brushing his fingers against my skin one more time before leaning close to my ear.
“Wifey,” his breath was hot against my ear, whispering.
“The red lace back in the bedroom will look more attractive on you than the white one. Want me to help you wear that one?”
My mind short-circuited, processing his words.
“Keifer!” I shrieked, turning so fast that my dress threatened to fall.
But he was already gone, laughing like an absolute menace.
“Ugh—!” I groaned, feeling the heat of embarrassment wash over me.
“I am clearly not hearing the end of this.”
By the time I stepped out into the bedroom, I had changed into my soft pajamas, feeling like I could finally breathe.
I looked around, but Keifer was nowhere in sight.
I walked to the side of the bed, my heart still racing, and pulled back the covers.
For a moment, everything felt right—the tension from the day easing into something softer, something that felt like the start of a new life inside my chest instead of chains.
Then the bathroom door clicked open.
I looked toward the sound, only to freeze.
Keifer walked out of the bathroom, whistling, steam curling around his body as he shook his head to dry his hair.
A single drop of water fell from his temple, tracing a path down his cheek to his jawline, running along his Adam’s apple, trailing down between his chest to sharp abs and finally disappearing into his grey sweatpants, which hung low on his hips.
I quickly turned my gaze away before he noticed I was looking, biting my lip as heat crept up through my entire face, painting me red as a tomato.
I couldn’t help but glance once more, a memory of my own bedroom scene hitting me.
The moment my gaze landed on his abs, my eyes traveled all over his torso.
Jay, you are cooked, a voice in my subconscious stated.
I risked lifting my gaze, landing on his lips, which were curved into a smirk.
I swallowed hard, forcing myself to meet his eyes, only for my heart to skip a beat.
He was already watching me, his eyes dancing with a mischievous glint.
His smirk widened.
“Getting a déjà vu, wifey?”
“Huh—!” I stammered, flustered.
“N—No, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
He started walking toward me, his pace slow and calculated.
I quickly sat up in bed, backing away until my back hit the bedrest, my heart pounding so hard I was sure he could hear it.
When he reached the edge of the bed, he paused for a moment, his gaze locked onto mine.
Then, with a fluid motion, he climbed onto the bed, settling his veiny hands on either side of my head.
The mattress dipped slightly under his weight, leaning forward to eye level with me, but still towering over me.
His warm breath mingled with mine due to how close we were.
I quickly avoided looking directly into his eyes, suddenly very interested in wardrobe design, though my heart betrayed me.
“Jay,” he called out, his voice raw and husky, making me gulp.
“Look at me.”
I didn’t listen, turning toward the mirror, my own reaction making my breath hitch.
My face was bright red, eyes glossy under the intensity of his gaze.
Keifer grabbed my chin between his fingers, turning my face toward him.
His dark eyes locked with mine, searching for any discomfort.
He wasn’t smirking now; his expression was relaxed as he found none.
“Let’s sleep; we had a very long day,” he suggested.
I nodded, unable to form a sentence.
He backed away and shrugged the loose tee over his shoulder, the fabric slipping effortlessly down his arm.
I slipped into the heavy duvet, still completely flushed from our close proximity.
Keifer lay beside me, covering himself with the duvet.
“Good night, wifey,” he said with a small smile, his voice soft.
“Night, Keifer,” I replied, returning the same smile.
He switched off the light, and darkness enveloped the room.
As I closed my eyes, a thought crossed my mind: though the room was dark, for the first time in a long while, I felt my life filled with warmth and light that I didn’t want to lose.
Here’s your new chapter …
On previous chapter we talked — basically I yapped— a lot about emotions and all.
So, I wanna tell you guys…that there is a absolute comment section open for you guys to share your own “imaginary—wanted—truly desired” ideas for upcoming story.
Next would be Keifer’s POV…and literally god knows how long it will take…and basically when I first started this book the absolute plot running inside me was uptill Keifer’s POV…so after that I have no idea what I am going to write…and obviously you guys—even me— don’t want this book to end so fast.
So I want you guys to help me…come up with your own ideas…express them to me…
let’s just make it our book rather than just mine.
I will also come with my ideas…but you need to be my backbone in this journey.
I am just telling you…so that the next time I post a new chapter…you must be ready with your crazy but cozy ideas.
Btw…I tried to make this one somewhat romantic…I seriously don’t know if I even succeed in it.
But the heat and tension was clearly there.
I really think…I talk too much….
literally is there even a single author who would actually yap absolutely nothing.
It’s very dangerous disease…I guess.
I am getting treated.
Enough….
author…stop it.
Huff…okay.
Umm…one more thing…I am not giving Target…the target section is officially closed…you can come and read…comment if you want….but secretly I will be waiting.😉
So this is me, your lazy yapping author, signing off.
See you all with next chapter.
