KEIFER’s POV

I walked through the dimly lit hallway of the headquarters basement, trailing behind me was Angelo, Aries, and Percy, completely confused.

As we approached the rusted doors of HQ, the guards recognized me instantly, their expressions shifting from calm to alert.Full novel: JAYFER – The Shadow’s Love — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

With a creak that echoed through the hallway, the doors swung open, revealing the basement of our operations.

The basement was a dump of steel and shadows, illuminated only by flickering fluorescent lights that cast shadows on the walls.

The faint hum of machinery filled the air.

It was a place where secrets were kept.

At the very center of the room, tied to an iron chair, was Liam.

He was slumped forward, unconscious, his posture betraying the vulnerability.

Bruises blooming all over his face.

His head hung low, and his disheveled hair fell across his forehead.

The sight of him like this—defeated and restrained—sent a surge of satisfaction through me.

I turned toward the three brothers, their expressions shifting from anger and confusion to shock.

Percy walked beside me, swinging his arm around my shoulders.

“Keifer,” he said, the shock fading, replaced by a smirk.

“You really fucking pulled off a mind-blowing job. I’m damn sure you were inspired by my handsome face.”

Another hand nudged my side, followed by a whistle.

It was Aries, the same smirk tugging at his lips.

“You clearly are our best friend. Cool!”

I chuckled sharply.

“I did nothing for you, brother-in-law; it was for my future wifey.”

A hard smack landed on my head from behind.

“My sister is no one’s wife.”

Angelo.

“Yet,” I shot back with a mocking smirk.

“How did you manage to bring him here?” he asked, clearly impressed.

The playful banter vanished, my jaw tightening.

“After Chase told me everything, I wasn’t going to let it slide.”

FLASHBACK STARTED

After ordering Chase to call the three brothers, I stood up from my chair and stormed out of the office, heading directly toward the tech room.

I didn’t knock; I kicked the door open, causing everyone inside to flinch.

I ignored their startled expressions and marched toward one of the techs.

“O—On it, boss,” he stammered, fingers hammering furiously on the keys.

After two minutes, a blinking red dot appeared on the screen.

“Boss, he is currently at The Widon Bar on East Nike Road. Max thirty minutes from here.”

Without a single word, I walked out into the dark night—matching my dark eyes—and ordered my men to take over the bar.

They didn’t ask why; they wouldn’t dare.

Five SUVs filled with them pulled out of the driveway.

By the time I stepped inside the bar, not a single person remained other than my men, who were spread out, forming a barrier around Liam.

“Who the fuck are you? Why are you standing in my way? Get lost!” Liam yelled at one of them in front of him, who didn’t even flinch but simply pushed him back, sending him stumbling onto the couch.

“What the—” he started, probably about to curse again.

“Nice to meet you, Liam,” I cut him off, stepping further into the room.

The guards parted for me to walk directly toward him.

I casually shrugged off my coat and sat on the couch, fixing my wristwatch as I looked up.

“Wa—Wait, you’re Watson, right?” he asked, recognition dawning on him.

“Oh, you know me,” I replied mockingly, tilting my face.

“You’re not as dumb as I thought you were.”

His face twisted at the insult, but he masked it with feigned innocence.

“What do you mean? And why am I being held back while everyone else was shoved out?”

“Drop the act, Liam,” I said, my sharp eyes glaring at him.

“Don’t pretend to be innocent. I know what you’ve been hiding behind that mask.”

“Watson, I rea—”

“I SAID, DROP THE ACT!” I snapped at him.

He stared at me for a moment before a wide smirk crossed his face.

“Oh, guess what! The little lover just caught me. But…” He sat across from me, leaning in.

“What will you even do? I’m getting married tomorrow to the person you’ve loved your entire life.”

I looked directly at him, my fist clenched hard, controlling myself from beating him to a pulp.

“Even if you tell her,” he continued, “she won’t believe you. She’s completely mine, married or not—”

I didn’t let him finish; my fist connected directly with his nose.

Crack.

The sickening sound of bone meeting bone echoed in the room as his hand flew to his broken nose. This story is hosted at g.com.

Within seconds, his hands were stained red.

“She was never yours and never will be!” I declared, my chest rising and falling with rage.

He hissed before bursting into a fit of laughter.

The sound made me want to rip his throat out.

“Keifer… Keifer… Keifer…” He looked at me, amusement dancing in his eyes.

“How pathetic you are. I just said she’s mine, and you lose control. Think about what will happen when you watch her getting married to me.”

“I won’t let it happen,” I growled.

“And you don’t even want to marry her. You’re already married. I know you sold her in that auction and have a flight to Bali in three days.”

He laughed again, “You were quick; I’m impressed. But it’s too late to stop anything.” He smirked.

“And who said I would just let her go? Nah.”

He paused, and the look on his face told me he was about to spit out something disgusting.

“Before taking her to Bali, I will fucking taste her myself. She’s just too hot to resist; it would be a waste.”

That was the final thread.

I moved fast, punching him directly in the face until he became unconscious.

I stepped back, looking at his lifeless body.

I turned and walked out without a single glance, ordering my guards to tie him up in the basement.

FLASHBACK OVER

I returned to the present, the memory of that confrontation fueling my anger.

I turned to Angelo, Aries, and Percy, who were still processing the information.

The rage clearly visible on their face.

“I told you,” I said, my voice steady but filled with determination.

“I can do anything for Jay. Even if I need to kill someone, I will”
