"Wh... why? Why did you save me?"
"That bird told me that you are in danger." He replied, wearing a mask of polite smile, but deep down, blood boiling in rage.
He released her from his arms, and stood tall, facing back at her. "Let’s wipe this mess first. Shadow Legion."
He summoned hundreds of shadow warriors to encircle the monsters closing in on her.
Shadow after shadow peeled itself off the forest floor, taking shape into armored figures with weapons already drawn, dozens becoming hundreds in the span of a single breath.
The monsters that had looked so confident cornering one injured girl a moment ago suddenly found themselves staring down an army instead.
"Charge!" With his command, every warrior started shedding the blood of monsters.
He slowly turned back with a smile across his face, and extended his hands towards her. "Hey, how long are you planning to sit there?"
Lacy helped the warriors to finish the monsters quickly.
Snow grabbed his hands, and slowly tried to stand up, but failed in doing so.
Her legs gave up the idea of standing on their own.
"Looks like your legs are seriously injured this time. I told you not to participate in the test." He confirmed. "Was it Kale from Class C?"
She looked at her legs. "Ugh... I-I can’t feel my legs, as if they were never the part of my body."
She pulled a black flag from her pocket, frowning as she handed it to him.
"Here, take it. I actually had two black flags but I don’t know where the second black flag is."
He took the black flag and put it in his pocket.
Then he bent forward, turned his back to her. "Come on my back. Don’t say no. I know you can’t walk on your own."
She hesitated at first, then she climbed on his back. It made her face go red as a beet.
He could feel her breath on his neck, as she said. "Is it okay for you? Prince Van Fyugel carrying a fallen noble on his back."
"Do you want me to drop you right here?" He narrowed his eyes.
"N..nah ugh."
He felt a different sensation on his back, coming from Snow, that shimmered through his spine.
Once Lacy was done with killing monsters with her poisonous daggers, she joined them too, and they started walking towards their allotted green zone.
"Haha~" he chuckled, then his facial expression grew serious. "Can you explain what happened before we arrived?"
"Ugh... to be honest, I don’t know what happened either, when I regained my consciousness back, I was already surrounded by monsters, and I did try to run, but my legs..."
’So, she doesn’t know what happened?’
’Is that the power of Narrative Authority?’
’It means he can change events and interfere according to will. So why didn’t he kill me?’
As he was lost in his thoughts, a memory from before his regression hit him like a blow to the back.
"...so why didn’t you kill me earlier even though you possessed something like a SSS-Rank Narrative Authority?"
"Because it was quite fun to see you flapping wings in the air like a bird trying so hard not to fall."
’I noticed since I regressed, he’s not actually using narrative authority on me directly, instead interfering with the activities occurring around me.’
He snapped back to reality as he heard Lacy’s voice. "If she’s heavy for you, give her to me. I mean I’m quite strong you know."
"Haha, it’s okay."
’If I had a bit of energy, I would rather use Shadow Rift.’
"By the way, how did you manage to get two black flags, Snow?" he asked.
"When we separated, I thought I should give it a try in that area, so I let the other students go, and started finding red flags but found two black flags instead."
"I see, do you remember anything else?"
"Ohh and I saw a male student and a female. I don’t know what they look like, no matter how hard I’m trying to remember, but I’m certain of one thing: the female student had purple hair, just like Elisha Dumien of class C."
’Huh, Elisha? How could it be possible?’
"But we saw Elisha somewhere else entirely," Lacy said, deep in thought.
"I don’t know how, but I’m sure about this." Snow replied.
"As far as I know, there’s no girl in 4th year with purple hair except Elisha." Prince said.
