Inside the library, Alphas and Omegas were required to be separated. Wen Conghan’s evaluation of this rule was that it was “somewhat annoying.”

Only after Ji Mianyue had completely left her sight did Wen Conghan’s stiff body finally begin to relax.

Walking further into the library, Wen Conghan took out the books she had prepared to read today. Text that was usually easy to digest now felt impossible to read; she could not focus on a single word.Full novel: Married First, Loved Later with the Fake Heiress (ABO) — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The characters seemed to float off the page. No matter how many times she looked at them, they failed to enter her eyes or her brain.

In her mind, she replayed the soft sensation from earlier over and over again. That kiss was like a marshmallow, yet softer and sweeter than any marshmallow could ever be.

If possible, Wen Conghan wished she could have a kiss like that every single morning when she woke up.

Or perhaps, something even more daring.

She had finally kissed the person she thought of day and night. The lingering memory of the kiss kept a constant smile on Wen Conghan’s face.

An entire morning passed, and Wen Conghan had not absorbed a single word from her books.

When it was almost time, Wen Conghan took two deep breaths to forcibly summon back her rationality.

Ji Mianyue must be feeling very shy right now. Wen Conghan could not let her feel unnatural when they were together.

Once the appointed time arrived, Wen Conghan stepped out of the library and immediately saw Ji Mianyue waiting for her.

“The school is on holiday tomorrow. Shall we go buy some clothes together?”

Seeing that Wen Conghan remained silent, Ji Mianyue remembered they were supposed to be acting as a couple, so she proactively took Wen Conghan’s hand.

Wen Conghan remained calm on the surface as her hand was taken, but internally, she was as joyful as if she had received a scholarship without even studying.

“Oh look, it is those two from this morning again. I have to say, they look so good together.”

“You are right. They look so sweet.”

“If I could see such a beautiful scene at the library every day, then I… well, I still could not come here every day.”

Whispers drifted from the surroundings. Because of those comments, Wen Conghan could not suppress the corners of her mouth no matter how hard she tried.

“If you do not want to go,”

Ji Mianyue cut herself off mid-sentence and forced herself to swallow the rest of her words. She felt as though she were the most socially awkward person in the world.

“So, is it a date?”

Wen Conghan felt as though her thoughts were like a cat tangled in yarn; her messy ideas were the tangled threads.

She could see nothing else right now; her eyes held only Ji Mianyue’s face.

In the past, Wen Conghan did not have much of a concept of beauty or ugliness until she met Ji Mianyue for the first time.

The person she loved was truly too beautiful. She was as clear and elegant as the dew condensed on leaves in the early morning, yet as gorgeous as the most vivid flowers in a spring garden.

Afraid of startling Ji Mianyue, Wen Conghan hid all her desires away.

“Ahem, what I mean is that since we are playing the role of a couple, we inevitably need to go on dates.”

“So, can going to buy clothes together be considered a date?”

Wen Conghan looked at Ji Mianyue earnestly, her gaze so focused it seemed as if Ji Mianyue were the only person in the entire world.

When someone gazes at you so intently, you might fall into the illusion that they have fallen in love with you.

Ji Mianyue never used to believe in that theory until now.

Wen Conghan’s eyes were so beautiful. When she was serious, they were more radiant than anything else.

Her heartbeat changed from a rhythmic thud-thud to a rapid thud-thud-thud. Driven by her racing heart, Ji Mianyue nodded. After all, Wen Conghan was right; they should go on dates.

But…

Why did she feel so guilty?

Ji Mianyue did not understand what she was thinking. She avoided Wen Conghan’s gaze. A look that was so sincere and loaded with emotion was simply too easy to misinterpret.

She felt as if she were about to drown in that gaze.

When they reached the cafeteria, Ji Mianyue instinctively started heading toward her favorite, the Third Cafeteria.

After taking just one step, Ji Mianyue let go of Wen Conghan’s hand.

“I think I will eat at the First Cafeteria instead.”

Wen Conghan instinctively tightened her grip on Ji Mianyue’s hand, refusing to let her go.

“Why the First Cafeteria?” After Wen Conghan asked, she saw Ji Mianyue nervously purse her lips.

“I… I have recently taken a liking to the food at the First Cafeteria.”

Following Wen Conghan’s question, Ji Mianyue’s eyes began to dart around. After what happened last time, Ji Mianyue knew she could not let Wen Conghan find out what she was really thinking.

the dishes at the First Cafeteria were ordinary and the taste was average, but it had the advantage of being cheap. Ji Mianyue knew she was no longer a child of the Ji family, so she naturally could not continue eating at the more expensive Third Cafeteria as she used to.

“You go to the cafeteria you like. I will just eat at the First Cafeteria.”

In just a few seconds, Wen Conghan read Ji Mianyue’s mind. She had observed Ji Mianyue for a long time and had never seen a moment where she actually enjoyed the food at the First Cafeteria.

Clearly, the Dongpo pork, Maocai, and Braised Chicken with Rice at the Third Cafeteria were Ji Mianyue’s favorites.

“I see. But we are a couple. How can we eat separately?”

After saying this, Wen Conghan did not let Ji Mianyue leave and forcibly pulled her toward the Third Cafeteria.

“I,” Ji Mianyue opened her mouth to protest, but she could not find a reason to speak.

She usually did not think of herself as being poor with words. Why was it that whenever she encountered Wen Conghan, she could not come up with a single excuse?
