Ji Mianyue spoke things over with Guan Nian and had a good night’s sleep. The next morning, she stepped out of the dormitory building in high spirits and immediately saw Wen Conghan waiting for her.

The weather had turned cold by seven in the morning, and there were few students in front of the dormitory. Wen Conghan wore a beige knit sweater and dark blue jeans. Her face was truly beautiful; even in simple clothes, it was impossible to look away from her.

Since they had registered their marriage, Ji Mianyue felt bolder about looking at Wen Conghan’s face. Did she really marry someone this good-looking? Even if it was only a fake marriage.Full novel: Married First, Loved Later with the Fake Heiress (ABO) — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Wen Conghan noticed Ji Mianyue the second she stepped out of the dormitory, but she controlled herself so as not to startle her. She waited until the girl stood before her to offer a smile.

“Did we not agree to meet at the library entrance?”

Ji Mianyue did not understand why her mood felt so buoyant upon seeing Wen Conghan. Her happiness felt like the carbonated bubbles in a soda, rising continuously. After speaking with her yesterday, Guan Nian truly did not blame her. Furthermore, the things Guan Nian said were exactly the same as the comforts Wen Conghan had offered. For a moment, Ji Mianyue felt that Wen Conghan was like a deity who could predict the future.

Wen Conghan is such a good person! Ji Mianyue pursed her lips, a smile creeping onto the corners of her mouth. Her slight smile was like a kitten kneading its paws.

As Wen Conghan watched Ji Mianyue, she felt as if a kitten were kneading her own heart.

“My dormitory is on the way to yours, so we can walk together.”

The route was indeed as she described, but that was not the real reason. She had observed Ji Mianyue’s library habits. She knew exactly what time Ji Mianyue left her room and what time she arrived at the library.

“Then why did you not message me? What if I had left early?”

As soon as Ji Mianyue asked this, Wen Conghan took her hand. In that instant, Ji Mianyue forgot what she had been worried about.

“If I arrived and you had not come out yet, of course I would have messaged you.”

Wen Conghan held Ji Mianyue’s hand. This hand was smaller than hers, allowing her to wrap her fingers completely around it. However, the temperature of Ji Mianyue’s palm was much warmer than her own. This warmth was like a campfire in winter, attracting any traveler who could not endure the cold. Wen Conghan never used to think autumn was a particularly cold season, but after possessing this bit of warmth, she suddenly felt sensitive to the temperature.

“Oh.” Ji Mianyue originally had a stomach full of things to say, but now she could not utter a single word. It felt as if her mouth, throat, and stomach were stuffed with flowers, leaving her speechless.

The walk to the library took only ten minutes. In the past, Ji Mianyue found this path long and boring. This time was different. She held Wen Conghan’s hand and chatted with her the entire way.

“How did you know what Guan Nian would say?”

The more Ji Mianyue interacted with Wen Conghan, the smarter she thought she was. Her round eyes were full of curiosity, like those of a young deer.

“Because Guan Nian is your best friend, and she does not actually know me. Of course she would choose you.”

Wen Conghan knew very well that Guan Nian would not admit defeat easily. But she did not care; sometimes, Guan Nian could even be useful.

As they reached the library entrance, Wen Conghan pulled Ji Mianyue’s hand. She tapped her own cheek and said calmly, “I did not get my parting kiss yesterday.”

Ji Mianyue did not expect her to ask for this, and heat rushed to her face. People were starting to gather at the library entrance. Ji Mianyue felt a bit embarrassed, but she understood the necessity. Kissing Wen Conghan in front of others would achieve the desired effect. With this groundwork, her parents would truly believe they were dating when they investigated later.

Ji Mianyue prepared herself mentally and leaned in to kiss Wen Conghan. Wen Conghan, thinking the kiss was not coming today, was about to turn her head and tell her to forget it. The two of them moved closer at the same time, and as their heads tilted slightly…

They kissed!

Ji Mianyue blinked. Every thought in her head burned away the moment she touched Wen Conghan’s lips. She actually kissed Wen Conghan! Ji Mianyue reacted like a startled rabbit, jumping away to put distance between them.

“Wow, their relationship is so good. They have to be this affectionate even at the library?”

“Alphas and Omegas have to separate in the library anyway. Young couples just cannot help themselves for even a moment.”

“It is a good thing they are separated, otherwise how could these two ever get any studying done?”

The people around them whispered. The good news was that their act of being a loving couple was working. The bad news was that Ji Mianyue felt her face was incredibly hot. She felt as though she were being roasted over hot coals.

“I… I am going to go read now! See you later!”

Ji Mianyue stammered, unable to look Wen Conghan in the eye. After speaking, she turned and fled into the library.

Wen Conghan lingered on the sensation of that softness. Usually a brilliant person, she simply let her beloved enter the library alone. Her mind was also a blank. She was just kissed? By Ji Mianyue? And Ji Mianyue initiated it?

Wen Conghan’s thoughts were much slower than usual. It was only when she realized that last point that the corners of her mouth rose higher and higher. For the first time, she could not control the smile on her face. A person who normally kept her emotions hidden was now wearing a massive grin.

It was a pity the kiss was so short. An insatiable thought immediately appeared in Wen Conghan’s mind. If only they could have kissed a bit longer. Or perhaps… if the kiss could have been more…

Wen Conghan took a deep breath, trying to dispel the thoughts that would surely frighten Ji Mianyue. She thought this kiss was the greatest stroke of luck she would have today, until she heard Ji Mianyue’s invitation for a date.
