“What is wrong? What happened?”

“Who bullied you?” Wen Conghan could not bother with anything else and quickly sat down beside Ji Mianyue.

“It is not that something happened to me,”

Ji Mianyue felt as though her throat were stuffed with a cluster of light feathers; she simply could not get the words out.

How could there be such wicked people? How could they say such things about Wen Conghan?

Wen Conghan breathed a sigh of relief when she heard it was not about Ji Mianyue. Ever since her parents passed away, she had encountered the most vicious insults in the world.

What did it matter? She had long since stopped caring about the opinions of others. Their views and words could not stir her emotions at all.

“Let us discuss it with Mother and Mommy and tell them the truth about us.”

Ji Mianyue’s words allowed Wen Conghan to make a few guesses.

“Is someone insulting me because we are together?”

The question hit the nail on the head, and Ji Mianyue’s face turned pale.

“Mianyue, I do not care about those things.”

“What I care about more is whether we can successfully deceive Mother and Mommy,” Wen Conghan said gently, her tone relaxed.

“They are saying such horrible things. They are talking nonsense. They are spreading rumors,”

The more Ji Mianyue spoke, the angrier she became. Once her emotions surfaced, she could no longer suppress the tears in her eyes.

Clearly, it was not Wen Conghan’s fault; it was hers. Yet Wen Conghan was the one being scolded, and Wen Conghan was the one being accused of being a kept woman.

It clearly had nothing to do with Wen Conghan, it was not her fault, and it was caused by Ji Mianyue herself, yet Wen Conghan was the one bearing all the insults.

“I was wrong. I should have been more careful.”

Ji Mianyue’s voice grew quieter and quieter, the tears on her face falling like continuous rain.

Seeing Ji Mianyue cry, Wen Conghan’s heart began to ache as well. She was using Ji Mianyue’s guilt to force their interactions and make the girl fall in love with her.

Wen Conghan had calculated many things, but she had failed to account for the fact that seeing Ji Mianyue suffer would cause her actual physical pain. She could filter out the words of others easily.

However, she could not filter out Ji Mianyue’s emotions even a little bit.

“Since they are talking about me this way, does Mianyue want to help me get revenge on them?”

Wen Conghan took out a tissue she carried with her and gently wiped the tears from Ji Mianyue’s face.

Ji Mianyue did not react immediately, her hands clasped together as she kept pinching her own palm. She gave Wen Conghan a dazed look; her current appearance was so cute it made one want to pinch her.

“I am begging this kind person to help me. They are saying such nasty things. Kind Mianyue will definitely help me, right?”

Wen Conghan took Ji Mianyue’s clasped hands, preventing her from continuing to pinch herself.

“I was going to help you regardless,” Ji Mianyue muttered. She still felt that they should just tell the truth.

Ji Mianyue was a simple and straightforward person. She did not like complicated or devious things. Even if those things were for her own good, she still disliked them.

“First, let me see what they said about me, okay?” Wen Conghan reached out toward Ji Mianyue. She wanted to see exactly what had made Ji Mianyue so sad.

When she saw the words on the phone screen, Wen Conghan had to press her lips together desperately to stifle a smile.

Scolding her? On the contrary, she felt they were praising the strength of her relationship with Ji Mianyue.

If Mianyue were not so heartbroken right now, Wen Conghan would have wanted to screenshot these “malicious comments” and send them to herself.

On Ji Mianyue’s phone was the school forum, where some people were commenting on the recent close behavior of the two.

Wen Conghan and Ji Mianyue were already prominent figures at school; being together all the time lately naturally attracted a great deal of attention.

The first few posts merely said the two looked good together, but the tone began to warp further down.

“Wen Conghan is definitely after Ji Mianyue’s money. What a disgusting Alpha, social climbing like that.”

“I saw Ji Mianyue treating Wen Conghan to food at the cafeteria last time. Tsk tsk, even eating at a cafeteria requires the Omega to pay. Is Wen Conghan that desperate for money?”

“I feel like Wen Conghan is just here to drain Ji Mianyue’s wealth.”

In short, amidst a sea of comments calling them a match made in heaven, a group of people making malicious speculations about Wen Conghan had abruptly appeared.

Ji Mianyue felt wronged on Wen Conghan’s behalf because she saw these comments.

“Clearly, you are the real eldest miss of the Ji family,” At the mention of this, Ji Mianyue’s tears became like a faucet that could not be turned off.

“No, I cannot let you suffer this grievance.”

The more Ji Mianyue thought about it, the more she felt it was unacceptable. She started to move her hands, intending to post a clarification for Wen Conghan.

“They made you angry and belittled me. Mianyue, do you want to annoy them so much their hearts ache with rage?”

Wen Conghan held Ji Mianyue’s hand, preventing her from touching the phone.

Hearing this proposal, Ji Mianyue nodded vigorously. She hated these people. Why did they have to speak about other students this way?

“Yes!” Ji Mianyue nodded so hard it seemed as if she might shake her head off.

“Then let us start a thread on this forum to show off our affection.” After Wen Conghan said this, Ji Mianyue looked at her with a confused expression.

“Now, Mianyue, think about it. Is what they want most right now to see me break up with you?”

“If not, they would not have specifically posted these things to provoke me, right?”

“If we post a thread showing off our love and they see that they have not upset us, and that we are even more affectionate, will they not be the ones getting angry?”

Ji Mianyue thought about it carefully. Once she cleared up the logic, she nodded in agreement.

“Yes, they will definitely be very angry!”

After saying this, Ji Mianyue seemed to suddenly wake up, looking at Wen Conghan with eyes that sparkled.

“Then how should we show off our love?” Ji Mianyue had an expression that said she was ready, and Wen Conghan did not intend to let her preparations go to waste.

“Take a photo.” Wen Conghan tapped her own cheek, and Ji Mianyue immediately understood her meaning.

Ji Mianyue quickly gave Wen Conghan a kiss on the cheek, but Wen Conghan looked innocent.

“That was too fast. I did not catch it.”

In reality, Wen Conghan had not even opened the camera app yet.

Wen Conghan repeatedly took the photo of the cheek kiss several times. Ji Mianyue went from giving one kiss to giving several.

At first, Ji Mianyue’s mind was still preoccupied with the previous matter. By the time the photo was finally taken, there were not many tears left in her eyes.

“Is it still not, okay?” Ji Mianyue knitted her brows, a look of confusion finally appearing on her cute face.

“It is done.” Wen Conghan was smiling. She had stopped just as she saw Ji Mianyue’s expression changing.

Any more kisses and her baby Mianyue would start to get cranky.

Under Ji Mianyue’s expectant gaze, Wen Conghan posted the photo they had just taken to the forum.

Sure enough, things developed exactly as Wen Conghan had predicted. Seeing that they had not achieved their goal, those people began to lose their tempers in exasperation.

The corners of Ji Mianyue’s mouth finally began to curl upward.
