S-class Omegas are exceptionally rare. Regardless of their own rank, Alphas of all levels tend to feel a sense of instinctive calm in the presence of an S-class Omega. Furthermore, Ji Mianyue was no ordinary S-class Omega. She was the eldest daughter of the Ji Group and the sole heir to the Ji family fortune.

Under these circumstances, many Alphas in the school were secretly watching her. When no Alpha was close to Ji Mianyue, they maintained a cautious, respectful balance. However, Wen Conghan had shattered that equilibrium. Consequently, some people began attempting to mock Wen Conghan, believing her pride would eventually drive her away from Ji Mianyue. Unfortunately for them, they were mistaken.

Wen Conghan looked at the replies under the post where they had displayed their affection, and the corners of her mouth curled into a slight smile. Ji Mianyue, however, was still a little unhappy. Seeing that Ji Mianyue was pouting enough to hang an oil jar from her lip, Wen Conghan pulled her into her arms and began translating the replies one by one.Full novel: Married First, Loved Later with the Fake Heiress (ABO) — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Look, this person is saying, ‘I am so angry! How did Wen Conghan find such a wonderful Omega?'”

“And this one says, ‘Why does Wen Conghan get to have an Omega who loves her this much? Why do I not have one?'”

As Wen Conghan analyzed the hidden bitterness of these people, Ji Mianyue’s anger was gradually soothed. Listening to Wen Conghan, Ji Mianyue suddenly felt as though every problem could be easily solved as long as she was by her side.

“Are you not angry, then? They are slandering you and spreading rumors about you,” Ji Mianyue said, a sweet smile finally returning to her face. Only then did Wen Conghan feel at ease.

Wen Conghan did not want Ji Mianyue to suffer because of such things. She shook her head to indicate she was fine.

“In the past, I endured insults far more vicious than these. At that time, someone told me it was not my fault. Later, I thought about it and realized she was right. If it is not my fault, then I should not have to pay for the mistakes of others.”

Wen Conghan spoke carefully, and Ji Mianyue listened intently. Looking at how serious Wen Conghan was, Ji Mianyue could not help but feel that Wen Conghan liked the person she was mentioning.

At that realization, Ji Mianyue felt a pang of bitterness in her heart. However, she had no reason or standing to be jealous. She was the fake heiress who had inadvertently stolen Wen Conghan’s life. If Wen Conghan liked someone, who was she to interfere?

“What is wrong?” Wen Conghan asked in a low voice, sensitive to the shift in Ji Mianyue’s mood.

Ji Mianyue shook her head and forced herself to cheer up, saying sweetly, “Nothing is wrong. I am not unhappy.”

Wen Conghan assumed she was still bothered by the earlier incident. She offered a few more words of comfort, and the two walked back toward the school. However, Wen Conghan did not expect that this would be the beginning of Ji Mianyue’s depression rather than the end of it.

Over the next few days, Ji Mianyue’s mood remained poor. Every time Wen Conghan went out with her, she felt that Ji Mianyue was avoiding her. It was strange. Wen Conghan even wondered if Guan Nian had said something to her behind her back. Except for Ji Mianyue, she tended to view everyone else in the world with the worst possible intentions.

The silence was broken when Guan Nian called Wen Conghan.

“Wen Conghan! Is Ji Mianyue with you? She is missing!”

Hearing Guan Nian’s words, Wen Conghan was so shocked that her mouth parted slightly and her pupils dilated.

“What do you mean? Explain everything to me right now!”

Guan Nian was currently searching for Ji Mianyue, and from Wen Conghan’s tone, she knew the Alpha had no idea where she was.

“Go look at the school forum yourself! I do not have time to explain!”

Wen Conghan usually never looked at the school forum, as she found it boring. Recently, she had only checked it occasionally because Ji Mianyue cared about it. When she opened the forum, the post pinned at the very top caught her eye immediately.

“Ji Mianyue Usurps the Nest: Wen Conghan is the Real Heiress of the Ji Family”

There were several other posts following it, all discussing the same topic. Wen Conghan felt the blood rush to her head. She wished she could simply eliminate the people who had made those posts.

What did it have to do with them? From beginning to end, Ji Mianyue only owed a debt to her alone. What right did anyone else have to speak about her?

Wen Conghan grabbed her jacket and headed out while simultaneously posting on the school forum. Her message was simple: she would pursue legal action to the fullest extent against those who spread rumors, insulted others, or leaked personal information. She told them to get their money ready because she was absolutely going to win this lawsuit.

She began searching all the places Ji Mianyue usually frequented, trying desperately to remember any other spots she liked. The artificial lake, the library, and even the music room were empty. Wen Conghan’s heart grew increasingly frantic. She felt as though her chest was being suffocated by urgency.

Just as she was at her wit’s end, she remembered that Ji Mianyue loved going to the rooftop of the First Teaching Building to watch the sunset. Wen Conghan knew Ji Mianyue would not do anything foolish, but she could not stand the thought of not being by her side while she was hurting.

The door to the rooftop opened with a creak. Ji Mianyue was curled up in a corner, unwilling to look up.

“Guan Nian, I am fine. You do not need to worry about me. I will be better in a little while.”

In the past, whenever Ji Mianyue was upset, she could talk to her mothers. But regarding this matter, she truly did not know how to speak.

The last time they were buying clothes, Ji Mianyue had realized that she might have fallen in love with Wen Conghan. If she did not like her, she would not have felt that bitter pang when Wen Conghan mentioned someone else. For the past few days, her love and her guilt had been at war within her. Before she could figure out how to handle it, the forum post appeared.

Suddenly, a wave of overwhelming guilt crushed her. Reading about how Wen Conghan had spent years working part-time jobs just to make ends meet made her feel like a terrible person. In reality, Wen Conghan had worked those jobs to accumulate assets so she could eventually reach a status worthy of marrying Ji Mianyue.

Unfortunately, Ji Mianyue did not know that. She only knew that the more she read, the more she felt she had crossed a line. How could the little bit of kindness she had shown Wen Conghan over the last few days ever compensate for this? Was she, as the post suggested, using the Ji family’s money and connections to show off in front of Wen Conghan? Those things should have belonged to Wen Conghan in the first place. She had stolen them.

Tears fell one after another, soaking her sleeves. Wen Conghan looked at the girl huddled in a ball, and her heart finally settled. During that moment of isolation in high school, Ji Mianyue had found her. And now, she had found Ji Mianyue.

“Is it not cold? You are wearing so little.”

Wen Conghan had just run up the stairs, and her voice carried a slight wheeze from the exertion. Hearing the familiar voice, Ji Mianyue lifted her tear-stained face and looked at Wen Conghan in disbelief.

How could it be Wen Conghan? Why did it have to be Wen Conghan?

Yet, the person standing before her was exactly the one she was most afraid to see. The setting sun cast a golden glow around Wen Conghan’s silhouette as she walked toward her. She looked like a sudden burst of light in a world that had gone dark.

Ji Mianyue felt that she was completely finished.
