Looking at Wen Conghan in this state, Ji Mianyue felt that she had truly hurt her. She could only repeatedly insist that she did not mean it that way. Wen Conghan did not say a single word of blame toward Ji Mianyue; she only gave a bitter smile.

“Mianyue, I am afraid.”

Wen Conghan took Ji Mianyue’s hand and led her to a corner. Wen Conghan did not cry, but Ji Mianyue could sense that the sadness in her eyes was as thick as the morning mist.Full novel: Married First, Loved Later with the Fake Heiress (ABO) — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Mianyue, I am sorry. It is my fault. You did nothing wrong. I am just too frightened. I want to become your friend. I want to become your family. I do not want to be alone anymore because I am far too insecure.”

As Wen Conghan spoke these words, she looked as if she were about to collapse.

“What can I do to make you feel less insecure?” Ji Mianyue asked. “Conghan, I truly did not mean it that way. I just felt that I needed to compensate you. I want to make it up to you as much as possible.”

The simple use of her first name was enough to make Wen Conghan’s heart fill with joy.

“If you really want to make it up to me, Mianyue, can you let me choose the method of compensation?”

“You will choose?” Ji Mianyue repeated, following Wen Conghan’s lead.

“Yes, I will choose.”

Wen Conghan gently took Ji Mianyue’s hand. She had originally intended to start their relationship as a dating couple, but she clearly did not have that much patience. She surrendered to the urgency in her heart.

About half an hour later, Ji Mianyue’s pupils contracted as she looked at the marriage certificate in her hand. What should she do? She had registered her marriage with Wen Conghan behind the backs of her mothers, Shen Yuxin and Ji Yanru.

This was the first time Ji Mianyue had ever done something so rebellious. If her mothers found out, what would happen? Ji Mianyue stared at the marriage certificate repeatedly, her eyes widening in shock.

Watching her flustered and helpless wife, Wen Conghan’s mood reached a peak of absolute delight. Yes, she was her wife. From now on, anyone who tried to come between them would be an interloper. Just thinking of the words “my wife” made Wen Conghan feel as if they carried a seductive, sweet fragrance.

Starting today, she was no longer afraid of Shen Yuxin and Ji Yanru finding out. No matter what happened, Ji Mianyue would protect her.

“What is wrong? Mianyue, do you regret it?”

Wen Conghan intentionally showed her vulnerability as she spoke. Ji Mianyue immediately shook her head.

“No, no! I do not regret it! I just feel that everything happened so fast.”

Ji Mianyue looked up at that beaming face. When Wen Conghan smiled, she was beautiful and dazzling, like the bright moon. She was so beautiful. Ji Mianyue wondered if she was truly married to someone this good-looking. Even if it was a fake marriage, Ji Mianyue felt as though she were in a dream.

“That is good then. I was afraid you would not want me anymore. Mianyue is a good girl. You would not commit the crime of abandonment, would you?”

Wen Conghan’s words were slow and deliberate, making Ji Mianyue’s face flush and her heart race.

“I would never do that!”

As Ji Mianyue blushed with shyness, Wen Conghan reached out her hand toward her.

“Shall we go back to school together?”

Ji Mianyue was somewhat nervous, but she still reached out and took her hand. Wen Conghan thought she was very obedient, and the corners of her mouth curled upward. They walked together until they reached the base of the dormitory building. Only then did Wen Conghan speak.

“To ensure our mothers do not worry that we are just acting, we should spend more time together over the next three months. We should get to know each other as quickly as possible. Will you accompany me to the library tomorrow?”
