Lynn got to her room and sat on her bed ready to go through the documents Alex had asked her to sign so if she saw something she wasn’t okay with she would talk to him about it and they could discuss it…

“The contract will no longer be admissible a year after the marriage…

The contract should be kept secret from others…” Lynn read through the contract in a low voice and was okay with everything till she got to the “No intimate relationship during the period of this contract…” Part, her cheeks immediately became flushed and she cleared her throat…Full novel: Marrying Mr CEO: Be My Bride — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“he didn’t have to add that part” She muttered, as her cheeks became more flushed..

it didn’t help that her mind reverted to the time at the boutique when he had helped her put her shoes on…

The way his hand had softly touched her skin and…

Lynn gave her head a little shake to ward off such thoughts…

“It’s just a job… a job…nothing else,” She said and got up from her bed…

the room suddenly felt hot…

and her heart started to race in her chest when her mind started to trail off again…

“He has beautiful eyes” She said to herself and swallowed…

she had been so overwhelmed by everything that was happening but now that she was alone and her mind kept reverting to him, she couldn’t help but think about him…Alex…

He was tall and handsome…

Handsome was an understatement.

He was stunning, his height…

his chiselled jaw and the way he spoke…

His deep…

voice…

Lynn closed her eyes and gave her head a violent shake hoping such thoughts would finally go away…

She accepted he was stunning but that was it…

she stopped herself from thinking any further…

thoughts that might hinder what she was about to get into…

Lynn sighed deeply as she walked out of her room with the contract in her right hand…

It was dark outside already, but the hallway of the house was lit up even though it was empty and felt lonely…

Lynn looked up at the high ceiling as she continued to walk down the hallway that led to the staircase…

the house was big and magnificent but something about it felt really…

lonely…

She finally got to the end of the hallway and as she was about to take the turn that led to the staircase she bumped right into someone, causing the contract to leave her hand and fall to the ground…

Lynn looked up to see who she had bumped into and it was a lady about her age…

she was putting on what looked Like a maid’s uniform, but what caught Lynn’s attention was the fact that the lady was trembling…

“I’m…I’m sorry…I’m sorry ma’am” she stuttered and was about to pick up the document for Lynn, but Lynn knowing that no one should know the contents of what was inside immediately sprang into action and picked it up before she could…

The trembling lady immediately took a step back and bolted away before Lynn could ask her If she was alright…

“Wait!” Lynn said after her but she didn’t stop and quickly went down the stairs…

not looking back leaving Lynn concerned…

“I hope she is okay,” Lynn said to herself and continued walking…

When she got downstairs Lynn headed straight to Alex’s study and knocked on the door but she didn’t get an answer and knocked once again and again…

she sighed deeply and was about to leave when the door to his office flew open to reveal Alex…

he had that frown on his face, but this time Lynn could smell alcohol from him…

Had he been drinking?

“I’ve gone through it but I didn’t have a pen to sign it” Lynn said to him in her low voice…

Her heart racing as her eyes started to scan his face and features…

he was more handsome now that she was standing in front of him than he had been in her imagination…

at first glance, they might look lifeless but on a closer look it didn’t…

she was strangely curious about what those secrets might be…

“Come in” Alex responded and walked back into his office leaving Lynn standing outside…

She gave her head another little shake before walking into his office too, closing the door behind her…

As she walked in her hand immediately fell on the almost empty bottle of whiskey on his table and the half-filled glass…

Had he been drinking since she left earlier…

was something troubling him or was this something he did on a normal day…

Alex walked to his table and picked up his pen…

“Are you okay with everything stated in there… if you are not you can tell me now” Alex said as he walked towards her to hand her the pen…

Lynn took the pen from him and opened the document to where she had to sign…

” I don’t have a problem with anything except the wedding party,” She said and looked up at him as she was about to sign…

he was looking right at her and their eyes met and locked but she was fast To break the eye contact and look back at the document in front of her…

“We can reduce the guests if you want” Alex suggested and Lynn’s face lightened up a bit…

she was totally on board with it…

“Do you have anyone you want to invite?” Alex asked and lynnn face immediately dropped…

Her hand stopped as soon as she was about to put down her signature…

Everything felt static for a few seconds as thoughts about her family flooded her…

she didn’t have anyone to invite…

“No, I have no one…” She answered…
