Alex sat opposite her and collected the document that she had signed…

He added his signature too and everything was finally finalised…

“People might find it weird if I don’t have anyone as my guest, don’t you think so” Lynn said…Full novel: Marrying Mr CEO: Be My Bride — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

since she didn’t have any family or friends, it was better to use it to her advantage…

He would finally listen to her and they could have a really small wedding like she wanted…

she could have invited Rachel and a few of her coworkers but she wasn’t close to them and it would only make things awkward for everyone…

Even at her last workplace which she had worked at for three years, she avoided any outing she was invited to and mostly kept to herself…

It was more of a habit that she had taken on after her mother left and her father turned out that way…

she didn’t want anyone to know about her dysfunctional family, at the end of the day anyone who found out only ended up looking at her with pity which she hated more than anything…

“That is true… a small wedding it is then” Alex said and Lynn was a bit surprised that he had accepted easily even though he had been kin on a big wedding…

A smile appeared on her face and Alex felt his heart dropped…

and suddenly started to race…

She looked really pretty with a smile on her face…

and he almost found himself smiling too…

He immediately looked away and stood up, his cold demeanour returning to mask the overwhelming emotion that had suddenly coursed through him…

The smile on Lynn’s face disappeared and she stood up also, wondering if she said something wrong and got on his nerves, but before she could ask him what was wrong a knock on the door immediately captured both of their attention…

It was Marcus and he had come to inform them that dinner was ready…

Alex was the first one to leave his study quickly and Lynn waited a few seconds before she followed after him…

Her eyes were on his back as she walked past Marcus…

What was going on in his mind…

Joan immediately scurried away to the downstairs hallway after her encounter with Lynn…

she had thought Lynn was out of her room and had gone downstairs for dinner after Marcus had told them he was going to call her down for dinner, but she had been beyond shocked to see Lynn coming down the stairs herself…

Her hand travelled to her chest as she tried to steady her breath…

Her eyes filled with fear as she took out her phone from her pocket…

She looked behind her to make sure no one was approaching before she dialled a number, she started to bite her nails as she waited for the call to be answered and finally, the call was answered…

a sweat broke out on her forehead, her hand trembling…

“I’m sorry ma’am, but I can’t do this” She said in a low voice, her heart racing like crazy in fear…

“I will return the money to you tomorrow, I want no part of this… I don’t want to get on Mr hMr. Hult’s side” Joan said her voice shaky as she ended the call…

she ran her hand through her hair and stood there for a few minutes to regain her composure before she finally left the hallway…

“Where are you coming from” A voice stopped her in her tracks and Joan froze….

she slowly turned to see Marcus standing behind her, his eyes filled with a bit of suspicion…

“Nothing sir…I was just on my way to the kitchen” Joan replied in a low voice and quickly scurried away, her hand fisted beside her….

When she walked into the kitchen two of the maid were speaking about Lynn and they immediately stopped talking as soon as they saw her…

one of them named Lydia cleared her throat “Take this to the dining room, since you left us by ourselves to make the table” Lydia said and Joan was about to decline because she knew Lynn was in there and would recognise her, but Marcus walked into the kitchen before she could…

Her hand trembled a bit as she walked into the dining room…

Lynn immediately recognised her as soon as she walked in and her eyes grew slightly wide when she saw how nervous the girl she had bumped into from before looked….

The girl slowly approached the table her hand trembling as she dropped the bowl of salad on the table…

Lynn couldn’t help but notice how hard the girl was trying to avoid eye contact with her…

it made her feel uncomfortable…

why did she look so anxious?

Lynn wondered but said nothing because she was sure the nervous-looking lady didn’t want any attention on her…

“Is the food not to your liking” Alex’s voice suddenly broke through Lynn’s train of thought…

she turned to look at him and smiled slightly…

she then returned her eyesight to her plate and saw that she had barely taken a bite…

“No I’m sorry” She blurted out but immediately regretted her words…

He had asked her not to worry all the time, but she had said it without realising…

“I can ask the cook to make you something else if you want” Alex said, his attention completely on the woman sitting a few chairs from him…

His attention had been on her right since she walked into his study…

Till now…

He was starting to notice every little thing about her…

Her cheeks were slightly flushed and her left hand fisted as her eyes darted from his to her plate nervously…

He was curious about her with each passing second…

Seeing her smile affected him an effect which he didn’t like and hoped was never going to happen again…
