A new chapter is up.
Come in, get comfortable, and let’s see what kind of trouble waits this time ❤️ ✦ The blade flashed.
It tore into the target with a wet, resistant sound, like steel cutting through rotten leather.
The knife met resistance for half a second, then finally severed through.
The head dropped from the body and rolled across the floor.
But the sensation that traveled up Natasha’s knife felt nothing like a clean beheading.
“What kind of monster is this?” Natasha turned, and even after the Red Room, even after everything she had seen, the creature in front of her still made her eyes sharpen.
If this was biological mutation, then its appearance alone was enough to challenge a person’s understanding of life.
“Help!” “Damn it, what is that thing?” The shouts from nearby broke the disturbing silence in the corridor.
Natasha was not the only person who had been thrown into this underground base.
Other agents had been transported with her and were moving nearby.
But those elite agents were not Black Widow.
They could not dodge a zombie ambush in the space of a breath, counterattack, and decapitate the target in one strike.
Gunfire erupted.
In the narrow corridor, firearms were difficult to use properly.
Zombies pushed through the shots and lunged at the agents.
Flesh tore.
An agent screamed as a chunk of meat was ripped from his body.
The sound cut off almost at once.
His flesh twisted, and his eyes turned a sickly red.
“Goddamn bitch!” “They’re highly infectious?” “Fall back!” “Don’t let them touch you.
Do not take a wound.” Natasha’s expression went cold.
The short blade in her hand flashed again and again.
She moved like a panther locking onto prey.
The knife became a merciless scythe, harvesting everything in reach.
Zombies fell.
So did the agents who had been infected.
Blood spread across the floor beneath her boots.
“Whoa.
She didn’t even hesitate.” “She’s insanely hot, but forget delicate beauty.
That’s a rose with thorns.” “They’re wearing the same uniform.
Those were her teammates, right?
She just killed them?” “She’s ruthless.” Countless viewers drew sharp breaths.
Black Widow’s decisiveness left them staring wide-eyed.
Even for people who subconsciously treated the footage as a movie teaser, that kind of clean, immediate killing was enough to make them uneasy.
For people who knew a little more, it was worse.
…
Inside the U.S.
military command structure, General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross frowned.
“Natasha?” “Isn’t she one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s people?” He had heard Black Widow’s name many times.
“That ruthless, even with her own side?
No wonder they call her Black Widow.” Ross’s eyes narrowed, cold and assessing.
When he looked at the zombies, however, that coldness turned into greed.
He could tell at a glance that this was some kind of biological weapon technology, even if the research had clearly gone horribly wrong.
If that technology could be used in the military’s super-soldier program…
Ross’s eyes sharpened with interest.
Greed rose in him at once.
“This technology must be under U.S.
control.” “It’s a gift, and it belongs in American hands.” Ross clenched his fist as if the prize were already in his hands.
He could not stop imagining what would happen once the military acquired it and the super-soldier program entered a new era.
…
Natasha knew nothing of the uproar outside.
Even if she had, she would not have cared.
Right now, her attention was fixed on the sound that had just rung beside her ear.
[Ding.
Zombie killed.
2 points awarded.] [Ding.
Infected target killed.
5 points awarded.] [Ding.
Zombie killed.
2 points awarded.] “Points?” Natasha looked up sharply.
After confirming it was not an auditory hallucination, she shifted her focus and almost instinctively opened the system panel.
[Main Mission: Assist the Umbrella Corporation team in entering the Hive’s inner core and shutting down the core AI, the Red Queen, to prevent the T-virus from leaking.] [Reward: Unknown.
Rewards will be calculated based on mission contribution.
Upon completion, participants will return to their original world.
Upon failure, participants will be permanently stranded in the anchored world.] [Points: 25] [Points can be used to purchase items, magic, bloodlines, abilities, technological weapons, and more.] “Main Mission?” “So I was brought here to complete this?” Natasha frowned.
The points displayed on the screen might have been valuable, but she was far more sensitive to the mission itself.
An agent’s life was built around objectives.
Whether the information in front of her was true or not, at least for the moment, this appeared to be her only path.
“Completing the mission is the only way home?” Her lips pressed into a thin line.
Whoever could move her and her team into this place without warning possessed strength beyond anything she understood.
Under those conditions, she had very few choices.
Bootsteps echoed through the corridor.
Natasha moved forward.
She exchanged a look with the surviving agents, and they nodded in silent agreement before beginning to explore.
No matter what was happening, investigating the area was better than staying in place and waiting to die.
They had been deployed for a special assignment, not a long operation.
None of them had food or supplies.
Steel flashed.
Bullets cracked.
Once the agents were prepared, they no longer looked as panicked as before.
They advanced steadily and began showing the skill expected of high-level field operatives.
…
In Gotham City, Bruce shot to his feet.
“These monsters…” “They really exist.
Genetically and biomechanically, they are completely possible.” Inside the Batmobile, the analyzer was already active.
Simulation models of the zombies appeared across the screen: musculature, bone structure, movement patterns, force vectors.
The data matched human biomechanics with disturbing precision.
This was not something that could be explained as random fabrication.
It was as if such creatures truly existed.
“A contaminant that can leak out and drag an entire world into an apocalypse?” Bruce’s expression turned grim.
The zombies themselves were not overwhelmingly powerful.
Their danger seemed to come mainly from infection.
But this was only the beginning of the contamination.
Who could say whether that terrifying biological agent could mutate further?
The screen seemed to answer his suspicion.
Inside the base, the agents had begun to understand the zombies through repeated contact.
Their advance became smoother, and the situation slowly tilted in their favor.
Then an uninvited guest arrived.
A Licker crawled across the ceiling, its body transformed into warped, exposed flesh.
Bullets struck it without causing meaningful damage.
With a sharp crack, its claws shattered Natasha’s short blade.
Then its slick, elongated tongue snapped out toward the now-unarmed Black Widow, cutting through the air with a whip-like crack.
At the last possible instant, a missile trailing black smoke screamed in from the far end of the corridor.
