Roy smiled and said nothing more.
He took the pen, flipped to the last page of the contract, and signed his name.
After signing, he handed the pen and one copy of the agreement back to Happy.
As for his own copy, Roy stored it inside the system storage.
“You trust me that much?” Tony asked.
“You didn’t even read the details of the contract.” Roy replied calmly, “Money is nothing more than a string of numbers to you.” “You’re not stupid enough to risk your life just to cheat me out of some money.” It wasn’t exactly the answer Tony had wanted to hear, but he didn’t dwell on it.
“In a few months, I’ll be holding a Stark Industries Expo here in New York.” “Remember to come.” “Sure.” Roy nodded without objection.
“Now that we’re done talking business, let’s talk about something personal.” Tony smiled.
“Which university is your girlfriend planning to apply to?” “Whether it’s one of the Ivy League schools, MIT, Imperial College, Cambridge, Oxford, or somewhere else, if you need it, I can get recommendation letters from members of their boards.” “No need.” “She’s already applied.” Roy replied.
“Where did she apply?” Tony asked curiously.
Roy didn’t keep him in suspense.
“Empire State University.” “Empire State University?” Tony immediately frowned after hearing Gwen’s choice.
“I’m not looking down on Empire State University, but it definitely isn’t a top-tier school.” “Don’t tell me you deliberately convinced her to apply there so she’d stay in New York?” Roy shook his head.
“Of course not.” “She’d already decided on Empire State University a long time ago.” After chatting for a little while longer, Tony left Midtown School of Science and Technology with Pepper and Happy.
Roy watched the three of them leave before heading back toward Gwen and her family.
At noon.
Roy took Gwen’s family to the three-Michelin-star restaurant he’d reserved to celebrate her official graduation.
Glasses were raised.
Everyone enjoyed themselves.
After lunch, George drove to the precinct for work.
Gwen, Helen, and the others, meanwhile, were invited by Roy to his villa on the Upper East Side.
It wasn’t Gwen’s first time visiting the villa.
However, she’d never stayed overnight before.
The moment Helen and Gwen’s three younger brothers saw Roy driving an Audi R8, they already knew he couldn’t possibly be short on money.
Even so, they were still astonished when they arrived at his villa.
Especially Philip and his two brothers.
They might not have been adults yet— But they were still boys.
The sight of more than a dozen supercars inside Roy’s garage practically made their eyes sparkle.
Supercars were every man’s dream!
And now, those dreams were sitting right in front of them.
Seeing Philip and his brothers staring at his collection with shining eyes, Roy immediately knew that he’d already won over all three of his future brothers-in-law.
As for Helen— There was an old saying: The more a mother-in-law looked at her son-in-law, the more she liked him!
Rich.
Handsome.
And with a good personality.
Aside from having no family and dropping out of university, Roy practically had no shortcomings at all.
He perfectly matched Helen’s expectations for a future son-in-law.
…
“He’s not human!
My brother saw him shooting webs at Lincoln Center.” “I think he’s human.
A man.
Maybe even a woman.” “He stretches out his hand and shoots webs, then climbs straight up walls.” “The moment I saw those webs, I knew Spider-Man had appeared.
He’ll protect us.
He’ll protect everyone in the city.” “He’s either insane or some kind of freak!” “I don’t like him.
He smells!” “A man with eight arms?
That’s pretty sexy…” Upper East Side.
Roy’s villa.
Roy and Gwen sat together on the sofa, casually chatting while watching a news report about Spider-Man.
“He’s a superhuman too.” “Do you know him?” Gwen asked curiously.
“I do.” “And it’s not just me.” “You know him too.” Roy replied.
“I know him?” Gwen looked at Roy in surprise.
“Yeah.” “Strictly speaking, you knew him before I did.” Roy smiled.
“Who is he?” Gwen immediately asked.
“Promise me you absolutely won’t tell anyone else, and then I’ll tell you.” Roy’s expression became serious.
“You don’t trust me?” Gwen frowned.
“It’s not that I don’t trust you.” “If my identity were exposed, the worst that would happen is I’d end up in the headlines all the time like Tony Stark.” “Not many people would actually dare come after me.” “But he’s different.” “If his identity is exposed, his family and friends could all be put in danger.” Roy explained slowly.
Although he wasn’t particularly close to Peter, he wasn’t going to run around revealing that Peter was Spider-Man and get him targeted for revenge.
Understanding appeared on Gwen’s face.
“I swear.” “I absolutely won’t tell anyone.” Roy nodded.
Then he said unhurriedly, “Peter Parker.” “Spider-Man is Peter Parker.” “What?” Gwen unconsciously sat up straighter.
Disbelief spread across her fair, delicate face.
“You’re sure he’s Spider-Man?” “Absolutely.” “But Parker is smart, sure, but his grades in physical education aren’t anything special.” “He barely passes.” “How could he possibly be Spider-Man?” “He was bitten by a spider and gained superpowers.” “How do you know that?” “Do you remember when your class visited Columbia University’s Science Center?” Gwen thought back for a moment before answering softly, “Of course.” “They didn’t just have the most advanced electron microscopes there.” “They also had fifteen super spiders created through genetic synthesis.” “But we only saw fourteen at the time.” “The last one was…” She suddenly stopped.
A possibility immediately flashed through her mind.
“You mean Parker was bitten by the super spider that wasn’t inside the enclosure?” Roy nodded.
“As far as I know, yes.” “If someone else got bitten by one of those super spiders, would they get superpowers too?” Gwen immediately became interested.
“Hard to say.” “They might.” “Or they might just die from the venom.” Roy replied.
Gwen looked him up and down.
“Don’t tell me you awakened your superpowers because something bit you too?” “Of course not.” “Everyone gains their powers differently.” “I just went to sleep one night and woke up with superpowers.” Roy replied calmly.
Although Gwen was his girlfriend, he had no intention of ever telling anyone that he was a transmigrator.
“I’m so jealous of you guys.” Gwen sighed.
“Parker gets bitten by a super spider and gains spider powers.” “And you’re even more ridiculous.” “You just went to sleep and woke up with superpowers.” “There’s nothing to be jealous of.” “Maybe one day you’ll gain superpowers too and become a superhuman.” Roy replied.
He didn’t know which parallel universe of Marvel this world actually was.
However, he clearly remembered that in the parallel universe known as Earth-65, Gwen had taken Peter’s place and become that universe’s Spider-Man.
