In the comics, Magneto had a defensive technique that he used frequently—and to great effect.
By manipulating magnetic fields, he could create a defensive force field capable of isolating both matter and energy.
That force field was powerful enough to withstand thermonuclear attacks.
With the field surrounding him, Magneto could become immune to the vast majority of damage and could even survive in outer space under its protection.
The movie version of Magneto had also demonstrated the ability to create protective force fields through magnetic manipulation.
However, the strength of those force fields was nowhere near what his comic counterpart could produce.
More importantly, the movie version of Magneto didn’t use the technique as a standard defensive measure.
Lorna possessed the same X-gene ability as Magneto.
In terms of the strength and range of her magnetic-field manipulation, she was still far from matching her biological father.
But being young had its advantages.
Young people tended to be more creative.
Lorna knew perfectly well that she was far inferior to Roy in both strength and constitution.
Roy could rely on his monstrous physique to withstand her attacks head-on.
She, on the other hand, absolutely could not afford to take one of Roy’s attacks directly.
So before the spar had even begun, she had already created a defensive force field around herself.
The force field truly existed, but it was invisible to the naked eye.
If Roy’s right fist hadn’t collided with it, even he wouldn’t have realized that Lorna had surrounded herself with an invisible defensive barrier.
The moment his right fist was stopped by the force field, Roy immediately retreated.
He had barely moved away when the six persistent metal spheres shot toward the spot where he had just been standing.
“Don’t underestimate me!” Lorna hadn’t sensed Roy’s attack in advance.
But when she saw him suddenly stop directly in front of her, she immediately realized that her defensive force field had blocked his strike.
Otherwise, the instant Roy appeared in front of her, she would also have felt the impact of his punch.
“I have to admit, I did underestimate you a little.” “As an apology, I’ve decided to get slightly more serious.” Roy looked at Lorna, who was now more than ten meters away, and spoke unhurriedly.
Slightly more serious?
Hearing that, Lorna frowned again, displeasure appearing on her delicate face.
She had no idea how strong Roy truly was.
In her mind, even if Roy hadn’t been fighting at full strength, he had at least been using seventy or eighty percent of his abilities.
And now he was telling her that he was only just about to get slightly serious.
Lorna didn’t know whether he was telling the truth.
But even if he was, that only made her more unhappy.
Because it meant Roy hadn’t taken this spar seriously from the very beginning.
Without the slightest hesitation, Lorna immediately manipulated the metal spheres again.
Earlier, she had still been somewhat worried that her attacks might injure Roy.
Now, however, there was only one thought left in her mind.
Take this infuriating bastard down in front of everyone!
Roy saw the metal spheres flying toward him at high speed, but unlike before, he didn’t dodge.
The moment the first sphere reached him, he moved.
His hand flashed out like lightning and caught the metal sphere that had been flying straight toward his head.
Then he hurled it back.
Clang!
The metal sphere he threw shot forward like a bullet and struck another one.
The violent collision produced a loud metallic crash.
Both spheres were knocked away and fell onto the basketball court.
Although Lorna could still regain control of them, Roy had no intention of giving her the opportunity.
At the same instant the collision rang out, he shot toward Lorna again.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared directly in front of her.
Once again, he attacked with his right fist.
And once again, his target was Lorna’s flat, toned abdomen.
This time, however, he used considerably more force.
One ton of punching force!
Earlier, he had only struck with the strength of an ordinary person.
This time, he directly increased the force of his punch to one ton.
A one-ton punch was only about one-tenth of his current maximum punching force.
It might not be enough to break through Lorna’s defensive field in one strike.
But to avoid accidentally killing her, Roy decided to start with one ton.
If one ton wasn’t enough, he would simply increase the force little by little until he broke through her defense.
Roy’s right fist struck Lorna’s force field once more.
The invisible barrier rippled faintly.
One ton really isn’t enough.
Realizing that a one-ton punch couldn’t break through the field, Roy retracted his right fist.
At the same time, his left fist shot forward like a cannonball.
Two tons!
Although the punching force had doubled, it still failed to break through Lorna’s defensive field.
The only difference was that the ripples across the barrier became more pronounced.
Before Lorna could react, Roy unleashed a third punch.
Three tons!
Roy’s punching speed was astonishingly fast.
Forget the students watching from the sidelines, or even Cyclops and Storm.
Even Lorna, who was standing directly in front of him, couldn’t clearly see his punches.
All three strikes together had taken less than a second.
Despite the increase to three tons of force, Lorna’s defensive field still showed no sign of collapsing.
However, this time the ripples spread across the entire barrier, revealing its full outline.
Five tons!
The instant those ripples spread across the entire field, Roy launched his fourth punch.
This time, his fist finally broke through Lorna’s defensive barrier and reached her flat, toned abdomen.
The moment his fist pierced through the force field, Roy had already begun pulling back his strength.
Most of the force had been absorbed by the barrier itself.
Even so, the remaining impact was still more than Lorna could safely withstand.
If he hadn’t reduced the force in advance, she might not have died, but she definitely would have been seriously injured.
At first, Lorna had no idea what Roy was trying to do.
More importantly, he gave her no time to think.
By the time she reacted, her defensive force field had already been broken.
“A moment later, Roy’s left fist struck her abdomen.” However, just as she braced herself for an unbearable burst of pain, her expression suddenly became strange.
Roy’s fist had indeed reached her abdomen.
But the result was completely different from what she had imagined.
His punch caused no pain at all.
Instead, it felt as though he had simply placed his fist against her stomach and gently pushed her.
The almost playful strike didn’t hurt her in the slightest.
But it made Lorna’s pretty face instantly turn bright red, like a ripe apple.
“You lost.” “And don’t forget the condition you agreed to.
No crying just because you lost.” As Roy spoke, he opened his left hand and, somewhat reluctantly, gave Lorna’s stomach another light press.
Mm.
It feels pretty nice.
