“What’s wrong?
Don’t you want to go?” Seeing Roy’s expression turn serious, Clarice, who was sitting beside him, immediately asked.
“No.
I just remembered something.” Roy quickly replied.
Although he had been spending more time with Lorna lately because the two of them often went to the forest together at night to train, he hadn’t started neglecting Clarice because of it.
During the day, he still spent more time with Clarice.
“Mm.
I thought you didn’t want to go.” Clarice looked at Roy and spoke softly.
After explaining some precautions for tomorrow’s exhibition visit and telling them what time they would leave, Storm, Ororo, left the classroom.
The rest of the morning passed quickly.
After eating lunch with Clarice in the cafeteria, Roy returned to the dormitory alone.
Lying on his bed, he went over everything he remembered about the Alkali Lake incident.
If Nightcrawler really attempted to assassinate the President at the White House tomorrow, then it would basically confirm that the Alkali Lake incident would unfold just like it had in the movie.
The reason was simple.
Nightcrawler’s assassination attempt had been arranged by William Stryker.
With that incident as justification, Stryker would be able to obtain authorization to attack the mutant school and secure the materials he needed to build another Cerebro.
After reviewing the entire sequence of events in his mind, Roy opened the status panel that only he could see.
Host: Roy Race: Human (Mutant, Devil Fruit User) Devil Fruit: Fish-Fish Fruit, Mythical Zoan, Model: Azure Dragon (Mutating) Haki: None Strength: 176 (Punching Force: 22 tons) Speed: 131 Constitution: 172 Spirit: 105 Bounty: 50 Berries Azure Dragon Power: Lv.
1 X-Gene Superpower: Blazing Heat Mission: None Storage Space: Unlocked System Shop: Locked (Under Maintenance; Reopening Time Unknown) … Compared to the previous week, his physical attributes had increased considerably again.
After an attribute value surpassed 100, the system stopped displaying decimal values and showed only whole numbers.
It had no practical effect, but at least it made the status panel look a little cleaner.
After reviewing his current physical attributes, Roy began wondering whether the approaching Alkali Lake incident would finally cause the system to issue his first mission.
Normally, after transmigrating into this world, the system should have issued him a mission fairly soon.
Yet half a month had already passed, and he still hadn’t received his first one.
His physical attributes were still continuously increasing under the influence of the Devil Fruit.
But Roy had read plenty of webnovels before transmigrating, and he knew that completing system-issued missions was usually the fastest way to increase one’s strength.
Time passed quickly.
The afternoon classes soon came to an end.
After completing his daily practical combat training, Roy chose not to do any extra training that night.
Instead, he stayed at school and watched a classic movie with Clarice in the media room.
The next day.
Eight in the morning.
Roy, Clarice, and the others boarded the school buses and headed toward Queens, New York.
Compared to ordinary schools, the mutant school had remarkably few students.
Even including Professor X, Cyclops, the other teachers, and the school staff, there were only around fifty or sixty people in total.
Two school buses were more than enough to carry everyone.
New York City’s terrible traffic meant that it took them two full hours to finally reach the venue hosting the exhibition.
“Stay together.
Don’t wander off.” The moment they got off the buses, Storm’s voice rang out.
At the mutant school, there were not only older students like Roy who were close to adulthood, but also quite a few younger children under the age of ten.
Storm and the others weren’t particularly worried about the older students.
The older students could sometimes be disobedient too, but at the very least, there was little chance of them getting lost.
The younger children were another matter entirely.
Under the guidance of Storm, Cyclops, and the others, Roy and the rest officially began their tour of the prehistoric-creature exhibition.
Although the venue contained many prehistoric-creature displays and dinosaur skeletons, Roy had almost no interest in any of them.
He wasn’t the only one.
Iceman, Rogue, and the others were equally uninterested.
After speaking with Cyclops and promising that they absolutely wouldn’t leave the venue, Roy and the others were given permission to explore freely.
“Rogue and I are going to the food court.
Want to come with us?” Iceman asked Roy and the others.
“I’ll pass.
I want to go look at the fossils.” Colossus replied immediately.
“I’ll go with Peter to see the fossils.” Shadowcat Kitty quickly added.
“What about you guys?” Iceman looked toward Roy and continued asking.
“I’m just going to wander around.” Roy replied.
The moment he finished speaking, Lorna hooked her arm around his right arm and calmly said, “I’m going with him.” Seeing Lorna’s intimate gesture, Clarice immediately frowned.
She knew Roy had been training with Lorna frequently lately, but seeing Lorna acting so familiar with him still made her a little unhappy.
“I’m coming too.” Clarice immediately said.
There were plenty of other older students besides them, but students like Morgan had their own social circles.
Even back at school, the groups rarely mixed.
Iceman Bobby and Rogue headed to the food court.
Pyro John clearly didn’t mind being a third wheel and followed them without hesitation.
Colossus Peter and Shadowcat Kitty went to look at fossils.
Roy, meanwhile, wandered through the exhibition hall with Lorna and Clarice.
Time passed little by little.
Roy still wasn’t particularly interested, but Clarice and Lorna seemed to be enjoying themselves.
After wandering around the venue for roughly an hour, the three of them eventually arrived at the food court as well.
The moment they got there, Roy saw two young men with a bit of a delinquent air standing in front of Iceman and the others.
Just as he remembered, the two troublemakers wanted to borrow Pyro’s lighter.
Pyro refused.
Seeing a scene identical to the one in his memories, Roy didn’t immediately approach them.
He stopped where he was.
He wanted to see whether Pyro would really use his mutant ability to mess with the two troublemakers just like he had in the movie.
There was no difference at all.
After his lighter was snatched away, Pyro activated his ability and manipulated the ember from the young man’s cigarette, igniting the sleeve of his clothing.
Seeing the man panic and fall to the ground, Pyro smiled happily.
Storm had specifically warned them yesterday not to use their powers in front of ordinary humans.
Even so, the moment Iceman saw what happened, he immediately stood up, raised his right hand, and fired a blast of freezing air toward the young man on the ground.
The flames on the man’s sleeve were quickly extinguished.
Frost spread across both his panicked face and his clothes.
Iceman’s action immediately drew everyone’s attention.
At that exact moment, an immensely powerful psychic force enveloped the entire venue.
Every ordinary person inside suddenly froze in place like a wax figure.
Professor X had made his move!
