Roy himself quite liked how he looked in hybrid form.
There was something naturally imposing and domineering about it, even when he wasn’t trying to intimidate anyone.
But he knew not everyone would share his opinion and find his hybrid form attractive.
Seeing Lorna instinctively cover her mouth with both hands, her face filled with shock, Roy knew her reaction was somewhat different from his own.
Still, he didn’t care much about that.
“All right.
I’m going to start tonight’s training.” “If you want to practice too, figure out what you want to work on yourself.” With that, Roy turned and started walking away.
He had barely taken a few steps when Lorna jogged in front of him and rapidly fired off a series of questions.
“Is this the ability you got from your secondary awakening?” “Does transforming hurt?” “Can I touch your claws and tail?” “What are these azure things?
Are they scales?” “What exactly are you transformed into?
A demon?” Uh… Roy hadn’t expected Lorna to suddenly turn into such a bundle of curiosity, staring at him with fascination.
Before he could even answer, she reached out with her right hand and poked his stomach with her index finger.
Then she grabbed his right hand and began examining his dragon claw with obvious curiosity, almost as though she were playing with a pet dog’s paw.
“You’re not scared of me looking like this?” Roy asked with a smile.
“Why would I be?” “You only look different.
It’s not like you became a different person.” “I just feel like your current appearance looks familiar.
I think I’ve seen a similar kind of creature somewhere before.” Lorna frowned as she tried to remember.
“A dragon.” “A mythical Chinese dragon.” Roy supplied the answer.
“Right!” “That’s it!” Lorna exclaimed excitedly.
Roy had assumed that once she figured it out, she would calm down for a while.
Instead, she did something he hadn’t expected.
She ran behind him and started playing with his tail.
Her actions obviously couldn’t hurt Roy while he was in hybrid form, but he really didn’t enjoy being handled like someone’s pet.
Just as Lorna tried to wrap her arms around his tail to get a better sense of its weight, Roy abruptly turned around and faced her.
“That’s enough.” “I’m not a pet, and I don’t like people playing with my tail.” “I’m going to train.” The moment he finished speaking, Roy pushed off powerfully with both legs.
His body shot into the air like a cannonball as he leaped backward.
Seeing him leave so decisively, Lorna showed a regretful expression.
But the smile soon returned to her face.
She had no intention of training her own ability.
Instead, she once again took control of the long metal board she had been riding earlier.
Using her power, she stretched and reshaped the skateboard-like board into an oval platform, sat down on it, and flew after Roy.
She didn’t continue disturbing his training.
Instead, she stopped the metal platform several dozen meters above the ground and watched Roy practice Demolition Gust with a smile.
Roy noticed Lorna floating in the air, but said nothing.
He focused entirely on his training, doing everything he could to master Demolition Gust as soon as possible.
Time passed little by little.
Before he knew it, several hours had gone by.
Once it was past one in the morning, Roy finally ended his extra training for the night.
He first stood where he was and reviewed what he had learned.
Then he canceled his hybrid transformation and returned to his normal human form.
The moment Lorna saw him change back, she immediately flew over.
“Done training?” Lorna asked from atop the metal platform.
“Yeah.” Roy nodded.
Although he still hadn’t fully mastered Demolition Gust, he had gained a great deal of useful experience.
As long as he continued practicing, mastering it was only a matter of time.
“What was that move you were practicing just now?
Were you creating hurricanes?” Although Lorna hadn’t trained at all tonight, while Roy was practicing Demolition Gust, she had spent her time cramming information about dragons from Chinese mythology.
“It wasn’t a hurricane.
Just a technique that uses wind to attack.” Roy gave a simple explanation.
“A wind-based attack?” “Like Ms.
Ororo’s ability?” Lorna continued.
“No.” Roy shook his head.
To prevent her from launching into another round of questions, he immediately used his superhuman speed and returned to the place where he had left his clothes, quickly getting dressed.
… The mutant school.
Roy was beginning to regret showing Lorna his hybrid form.
Ever since seeing his transformation, she had completely turned into a curious child.
Not only that, she had even given his hybrid transformation a name she personally thought sounded impressive.
Dragon-Human Form!
“Remember to keep what happened tonight a secret.
I don’t want anyone else knowing about my new ability yet.” “And stop asking so many questions.
Being this curious doesn’t fit your mature-woman image.” Roy told Lorna.
“Okay!” Lorna immediately replied.
After separating from her, Roy didn’t go anywhere else and returned directly to his dormitory.
Only after taking a long, comfortable hot bath did he climb into bed and rest.
The next day.
Roy had originally been a little worried that Lorna wouldn’t be able to resist telling someone about what she had seen the previous night.
Reality proved that Lorna was actually very good at keeping secrets.
Nothing particularly unusual happened over the following week.
Aside from the fact that Roy was no longer alone whenever he went outside to train, everything else remained largely unchanged.
After a week of practical combat training, Lorna, Iceman, and the others had all made considerable improvements in actual combat.
They were still some distance away from Cyclops and the others, but compared to a week earlier, their progress was more than satisfactory.
Lorna and the others had improved.
Naturally, Roy hadn’t remained stagnant either.
By now, he had not only successfully mastered Demolition Gust, but had also mastered Flame Clouds.
Perhaps because Flame Clouds was primarily a support technique, it was considerably easier to learn than Blast Breath or Demolition Gust.
Roy had only needed three nights of practice before successfully mastering Flame Clouds, giving himself the ability to fight in the air.
That morning.
The classroom.
After finishing the biology lesson, Storm, Ororo, didn’t immediately leave.
Instead, she slowly announced, “There will be an exhibition on prehistoric creatures in New York tomorrow.
The Professor bought tickets in advance, so tomorrow’s classes are canceled.
Everyone will be attending the exhibition.” As soon as Storm finished speaking, the other students in the class showed excited expressions.
It wasn’t a real vacation, but going to New York for an exhibition was still much better than staying at school for classes.
Roy’s expression, however, became somewhat serious.
So it’s finally here.
Although he had mentally prepared himself for this from the beginning, if possible, he would have preferred for this exhibition to happen a little later.
The reason was simple.
The day Cyclops and the others took the students to visit the exhibition was the very same day that Nightcrawler would attempt to assassinate the President.
