How could you offend a guest like that?
“…”
Cheng Lin’s heart skipped a beat, nearly stopping altogether.
Watching that man stagger away, Fu Siyu initially intended to chase after him, but had only taken two steps when the person behind him grabbed hold.
Cheng Lin clutched his arm tightly and said, “Don’t… don’t go after him.”
She shook her head as she spoke.
The words that man had just said—she still remembered them clearly.
If he were to show up again in the future, and Fu Siyu were to be alone, what then?
Seeing the anxious expression on her face, as if she were about to cry, he stopped in his tracks. Somehow, seeing her brows furrowed like that made his heart soften.
He instinctively reached out to wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes, and said in a low voice, “Alright, don’t be scared.”
“Mm.”
“Are you alone?”
She nodded again: “Mm…”
Fu Siyu paused for a moment, but ultimately spoke up. His hand slid down to take hers, and he said, “Come with me…”
“Okay.”
She followed him, walking alongside him until they reached the door of a private room, where they stopped.
He turned around to tell her, “Wait for me for a moment.”
“Okay…”
He turned and pushed the door open, stepping inside.
“What?”
The people inside heard him say he was leaving, and one immediately stood up from the sofa, the bottle in his hand not yet set down, a flicker of surprise passing through his eyes.
When did these brothers ever leave at this hour when they went out?
It was always at least two or three in the morning before anyone said it was time to call it a night.
“Mm.” Fu Siyu knew it wasn’t ideal either, but the way she looked—clearly scared out of her wits—there was no way he could let her go back on her own.
“Why?”
“Something came up.”
“Uh…”
“Hey…” Just then, someone happened to glance outside and spotted a young woman waiting obediently by the door, her eyes occasionally darting toward the room.
“Who’s that?”
She didn’t look like one of the waitstaff here—the waitstaff never lingered outside like that.
Fu Siyu had just stepped out a moment ago.
So their gazes turned to Fu Siyu, fingers pointing at him as they called out, “Fu Siyu, you bastard… don’t tell us that’s a girl you called over?”
“Hey… she looks about twenty years old. Fu Siyu, not bad, when did you start this?”
“Did you just call her when you went out? And here you told us you were going to the bathroom—don’t tell me you did it in the restroom!”
“Stop!”
Fu Siyu couldn’t take it anymore. He pushed their hands away and cut them off directly: “Anyway, I have something to take care of and need to leave first. You guys enjoy yourselves tonight. If that’s not enough, I’ll make it up next time—put all the bills on my tab. That’s it.”
“Hey! Wait! You bastard, Fu Siyu, get back here and explain yourself!”
“Damn!”
“Ugh…” Amidst a chorus of complaints, Fu Siyu led Cheng Lin out of the private room, walked down the long corridor, and finally arrived at the elevator doors.
His hand never let go of hers.
The elevator happened to arrive just then—one press of the button and the doors slid open.
They got out of the elevator and were about to head out when Cheng Lin suddenly thought of something and said, “Wait a moment!”
Her hand slipped free as she ran toward the front desk.
She was in such a hurry that she forgot to notify the front desk manager first.
“What?” The front desk manager’s face darkened the moment she heard it, and she shouted, “How could you offend a guest like that?!”
