Just as Wang Chunhua came out of Xia Yunuo and Xia Yunchen’s room, she happened to see Xia Yan who had just woken up. She said unhappily:
“You still know how to get up? If you sleep any longer, you might as well wait for dinner!”
“You’re not a eunuch. Even your speech sounds like you’re reporting for duty in the palace,” Xia Yan replied unhappily.
“You’re getting more and more improper,” Wang Chunhua snorted coldly.
“Fine, fine. I’m improper. They’re all proper, okay? You’ve got them calling you mother anyway. Whether I call you or not doesn’t matter to you anymore!” Xia Yan said angrily.
“You really know how to say what hurts me the most!” Wang Chunhua said, breaking into tears.
“Oh? You still have the nerve to cry? Did you not say anything that hurt me?” Xia Yan retorted angrily.
Just then, Xia Huai’an returned from the fields. Seeing his mother in tears and Xia Yan still aggressively arguing with her, he immediately dropped his water buckets, rushed forward, and slapped Xia Yan hard.
“How dare you speak to Mother like that! Apologize!”
Xia Yan was stunned, then screamed:
“Who do you think you are?!”
She then turned toward Wang Chunhua and shouted:
“You’re just going to watch them hit me?!”
Xia Huai’an struck her again.
“I am your elder brother! In place of Father, I will teach you discipline today!”
Enraged, Xia Yan fought back, and the two began struggling violently. Wang Chunhua rushed in to stop them. Xia Zhixiu and Xu Pandie also ran over from the kitchen and chicken coop and joined in breaking them apart.
But once separated, Xia Yan suddenly grabbed a kitchen knife from the kitchen.
“I’ve never been hit like this before! Today I’ll kill you!”
The situation spiraled completely out of control.
Wang Chunhua, desperate, hugged Xia Yan tightly and shouted:
“Run! She will really use it!”
But Xia Huai’an rushed forward again, disarmed Xia Yan, and slapped her once more.
After being hit repeatedly, Xia Yan screamed in rage and ran out of the house.
Wang Chunhua chased after her. Xia Zhixiu followed as well. Xia Yan ran barefoot, bleeding from her feet, but did not stop. She eventually rushed into a forest and disappeared into her spatial realm.
Wang Chunhua collapsed in the forest, crying:
“My daughter! Come back! Mother was wrong!”
Xia Zhixiu tried to comfort her, but Wang Chunhua muttered:
“She won’t come back… I’ve lost her again…”
Meanwhile, inside the space, Xia Yan treated her injured feet in the spiritual spring, made crude straw sandals, and continued traveling alone.
Eight years passed.
The world changed. Qin was rising under King Zheng. War and political chaos spread across the land, while conspiracies unfolded in the military camps.
In one camp, Cheng Jiao was persuaded by the general Fan Yuqi, who fed him a dangerous lie about his birth—claiming that Qin King Zheng was not of royal blood, but the son of Lü Buwei and Empress Dowager Zhao Ji. Enraged and manipulated, Cheng Jiao rebelled.
At that moment, Xia Yan accidentally appeared near the military camp and was captured as a suspected spy.
Panicking, she claimed she was a “celestial being.” To prove it, she disappeared into her space in front of them.
When she reappeared, even wearing different clothes, the soldiers were terrified.
Fan Yuqi and Cheng Jiao both began to believe she truly was a divine being.
Xia Yan quickly used the situation, pretending to be an immortal, and cleverly manipulated them. She even “predicted” Cheng Jiao’s fate and gave him a strawberry as a so-called divine blessing.
Eventually, she left the camp safely.
After leaving, she muttered:
“They’re both doomed fools…”
She returned to her space and finally met Wang Chunhua again, who was relieved to see her safe.
Xia Yan immediately urged:
“Mom, let’s go home. Those two are finished. Qin’s army will crush them soon.”
Wang Chunhua nodded:
“Alright… let’s go home.”
They returned to their village and finally felt safe again.
