When Jiang Yu arrived home, she immediately noticed the Maybach parked in the courtyard.
So… Shen Chengyan was back?
He had even called her. Was he planning to ask her to come back and cook?
Otherwise, she couldn’t think of any reason he would return the day after such a big fight.
Normally, after an argument, he would go into silent treatment for at least a week.
As soon as she entered the house, Jiang Yu was stunned again.
Black shoeprints covered the entire living room floor.
Judging by the size, they were definitely left by that black-hearted little demon—their son.
What surprised her even more was that Shen Chengyan had actually brought Shen Mo back.
Tang Yun looked down on her in every possible way. Back when Shen Mo was weaned, she had taken him away, afraid Jiang Yu would “fail” as a mother.
Over the years, she had barely allowed the child to return. Even during holidays, a housekeeper would supervise every interaction, as if Jiang Yu were some kind of dangerous creature.
Beyond the living room, even the dining area was covered in tiny black footprints.
Jiang Yu could already imagine that brat running around the house, and the expression on that cold, clean-freak father’s face.
He was probably furious.
She even wondered if Shen Mo was still alive.
Not seeing anyone on the first floor, she went upstairs.
At the master bedroom door, she saw something unexpected.
The brat was not only alive and well—he was even laughing with his father.
Shen Mo was sitting on Jiang Yu’s vanity table, while Shen Chengyan stood in front of him, slightly bent over. In his hand was a peeled egg, which he was gently rolling over the boy’s swollen forehead.
Shen Mo, his face still streaked with tears, was completely distracted.
“It smells so good… can I eat it?”
“No.”
“I want to eat it.”
“This one can’t be eaten.”
“Why not?”
“Because it’s dirty.”
“If it’s dirty, why are you rolling it on my head?”
“Is it possible… that you’re the dirty one?”
Shen Mo: “……”
Seeing his forehead getting more and more swollen, Shen Chengyan frowned deeply.
Clearly, this folk remedy wasn’t working.
He put the egg aside and picked up a cold pack instead, but at that moment, Shen Mo suddenly grabbed the egg and shoved it into his mouth.
Shen Chengyan: “……”
He had completely given up on this child.
“Why do you eat everything?”
Shen Mo puffed his cheeks, chewing happily—then suddenly froze.
His eyes rolled back slightly.
Shen Chengyan panicked and quickly patted his back.
The boy coughed out half the egg, the rest stuck in his throat. He stood there stiffly, gagging.
Shen Chengyan immediately carried him to the bathroom.
There was no cup nearby, so he used Jiang Yu’s toothbrush cup to get water.
“Drink!”
Shen Mo shook his head desperately.
“I want my own cup!”
Before he could finish, he vomited all over his clothes.
“I’m dirty! I’m not clean anymore!”
Shen Chengyan stepped back slightly, half-relieved, half-disgusted.
“It’s fine. Just wipe it off.”
“No! I want new clothes!”
“There’s no spare clothes. I didn’t bring any.”
“Ughhh—”
He started crying again, mucus and tears all over his face.
Just then, Jiang Yu walked in.
Before Shen Chengyan could speak, she pushed him aside.
Without a word, she pulled a stool from under the cabinet, lifted the boy onto it, and made him stand steadily.
“Stand still.”
The boy struggled, nearly falling.
Jiang Yu snapped, “Don’t move.”
She forced his mouth open, cleaned out the egg residue with her fingers, then rinsed her hands under water and wiped his face clean, blowing his nose and drying his tears.
The child went from screaming and resisting… to slowly going quiet.
When she finished, she grabbed a towel and dried his face.
“Both arms up.”
He sniffled and obeyed.
She took off his shirt, wrapped him in a bath towel, and turned to Shen Chengyan.
“Watch him. Don’t let him fall. I’ll get clothes.”
For once, Shen Chengyan looked slightly impressed.
“I’ll get them. Which cabinet?”
“Last row on the left.”
He went into the walk-in closet and opened the cabinet.
Inside were rows of children’s clothes.
Different sizes.
Boys’ clothes—and girls’ clothes too.
He paused.
Something felt… off.
But he didn’t think too much about it and picked a simple T-shirt.
Back in the bathroom, mother and son were staring each other down again.
The boy looked like he wanted to climb down.
“Stand still,” Jiang Yu ordered impatiently.
He dared not disobey.
Jiang Yu poked the swollen bump on his forehead.
“How did you even manage this?”
The boy nearly cried again, glaring at her.
From the doorway, Shen Chengyan said, “It’s not my fault. He fell on his own.”
Jiang Yu sighed and threw the problem at him.
“You dress him then.”
Shen Chengyan put the clothes back into her hands.
“You do it.”
“I’m not your housekeeper.”
“You don’t think your temper is getting worse? You explode over everything.”
Before she could flare up, he added calmly:
“I’m not trying to order you around. I just mean—you’re his mother. And judging from how you just cleaned him up, you can control him better than I can.”
Jiang Yu rolled her eyes.
“You’re 188 cm tall and you can’t handle a kid?”
“I can,” he replied. “Just not as… ruthless as you.”
“Oh, so I’m ruthless now? And you’re the saint? The saint who even refuses to give me a divorce settlement—”
He suddenly covered her mouth.
Jiang Yu shot him a glare.
He leaned closer and said quietly:
“Don’t say things like that in front of the child. He’ll take it seriously. It’ll hurt him.”
She almost laughed.
At this point, he still thought she was joking about divorce.
She pushed his hand away and looked at the boy.
“I’m divorcing your dad. You’ll be a single-parent kid from now on.”
Shen Chengyan: “……”
Shen Mo’s eyes lit up immediately.
“Then can Dad marry Godmother?”
