Shen Chengyan’s temple throbbed. He really didn’t want to admit he had such a foolish son.

Jiang Yu coldly shoved a piece of clothing into his arms.

He caught it and immediately smelled alcohol on her. Looking at her wrinkled clothes, he frowned. “Where were you last night?”Full novel: Mr. Shen, Your Devoted Wife Filed for Divorce and Disappeared — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Jiang Yu felt a bit guilty for a second, but then she remembered his unclear relationship with Hu Youyue and instantly regained her confidence.

“What, I can’t even go out drinking with my good friend now?”

“That so-called good friend who has questionable morals, is money-hungry, and married an old man?”

“She doesn’t steal or rob anyone, she just cares about money but doesn’t harm anyone. What right do you, a scumbag, have to judge her?”

Shen Chengyan: “……”

Jiang Yu shook off his hand and walked away.

He laughed in exasperation. “Your logic is more twisted than anyone’s.”

Shen Mo shrank back nervously. “I’m cold…”

Shen Chengyan glanced at him. “Are you stupid?”

Shen Mo: “?”

He tapped his son’s forehead twice. “If your mother and I get divorced, you’ll become an orphan. Understand?”

Shen Mo blinked his big eyes in confusion. “But aren’t you only an orphan when both parents die?”

“Single-parent family and orphan—what’s the difference?”

He tossed a shirt onto him. “Put it on yourself. Experience it early: life after divorce, no one to love you.”

“I’ll put it on myself then.” Shen Mo muttered, “You guys never loved me anyway.”

Shen Chengyan didn’t hear him clearly. “What did you say?”

Shen Mo ignored him and struggled into his clothes.

…

When Jiang Yu came downstairs after showering, she found the father and son still there.

Shen Mo was sitting on the sofa playing on an iPad.

Shen Chengyan was outside taking a phone call.

Normally Jiang Yu would lie on that sofa scrolling her phone—but now it was taken.

There was another sofa, but she liked that one.

More importantly, she hated losing control.

Suddenly having an extra person in the house made her feel irritated and anxious.

She kicked the sofa. “Get up. That’s my spot.”

Shen Mo stuck out his tongue. Instead of getting up, he sprawled across the entire sofa, occupying it completely.

“I’m the little emperor of this house! Everything here is mine! You, the servant, kneel down!”

“I’ll show you what happens to servants!” Jiang Yu rolled up her sleeves.

Before she could act, Shen Mo screamed and called for help.

Shen Chengyan walked in and pulled Jiang Yu back. “Don’t hit him. He’s still a child.”

“He called me a servant!”

Shen Chengyan frowned at his son. “What did you say?”

Shen Mo stiffened his neck. “I didn’t! I didn’t call her a servant!”

“Apologize to Mom.”

Shen Mo laughed. “Funny.”

Shen Chengyan: “……”

He turned to Jiang Yu. “Forget it. He’s your kid. Endure it.”

To be honest, Jiang Yu wasn’t actually angry at the child. At that age, he must have been influenced by what he heard.

What truly annoyed her was who was teaching him this.

“You two are both unbearable,” she said impatiently. “When are you leaving?”

“We’re not leaving,” Shen Chengyan said, shaking his phone. “My mother’s health isn’t good. She said she can’t take care of the grandson anymore, so we have to handle him ourselves.”

Jiang Yu didn’t believe it.

Tang Yun adored the child—there was no way she would just give him up.

But she didn’t care anymore.

She was already planning to move out in a few days.

Shen Mo suddenly panicked. “I don’t want her! I want grandma! I want my godmother!”

Jiang Yu sat down lazily. “No need to make it complicated. We’ll just bring your grandma and godmother here. A happy family reunion.”

Shen Mo lit up. “Really? Great! So when are you moving out?”

“Shut up.” Shen Chengyan’s voice turned sharp.

It wasn’t loud, but it carried authority. Shen Mo froze.

He angrily threw his iPad aside. “I don’t like you guys!”

Jiang Yu raised a brow. “Who wants your like anyway, little chubby boy?”

Shen Mo: “I hate you the most!”

Jiang Yu: “Same here.”

Shen Mo: “Ahhh!”

Jiang Yu: “Say one more word and I’ll cut your mouth off.”

He burst into tears.

“Waaaah!”

Jiang Yu clicked her tongue. “And you still dare cry? Embarrassing.”

Shen Chengyan finally stepped in. “You shut up too.”

She glared at him.

“You’re how old, and he’s how old?”

She muttered, irritated, “How long is he going to cry?”

“Until you break,” he said calmly.

“……”

“Go comfort him.”

“I don’t know how.”

“You made him cry. You fix it.”

Jiang Yu snapped, “I can’t.”

She rolled up her sleeves again. “I have a solution—just beat him until he stops crying.”

He pushed her back down expressionlessly. “Are you even his mother?”

Jiang Yu wasn’t surprised by his answer.

He was always the gentle father.

In the first months after the child was born, Shen Mo cried nonstop. Postpartum hormones made Jiang Yu unstable too—sometimes she was overwhelmed to the point of breaking.

Once, unable to calm the baby, she cried into the phone and said, “Why is your son so noisy? My head is going to explode. I really want to hit him. Can I hit him?”

After she finished venting, Shen Chengyan replied calmly, “Don’t hit him. If you’re still angry when I come back, hit me instead.”

That single sentence calmed her instantly.

Later, he even brought work home and reduced business trips, handling everything he could so she could rest.

At the time, she thought he was being considerate of her.

But he said it was because he was afraid she might lose control and hit their son.

Their son was too small—he couldn’t be hurt.

Jiang Yu was so angry she didn’t speak to him for three days.

But with him around, things really did become easier.

She could finally sleep through the night.

When the baby cried, she no longer had to force herself up—he would always wake first and handle it.

He never got angry at the child.

All his patience and tenderness were given entirely to Shen Mo.

He might not have been a perfect husband…

But he was undoubtedly a good father.
