Jiang Wan’s tone made Jiang Lan frown in displeasure.

“Enough!” Sheng Lianjue interrupted coldly, turning to Jiang Lan and saying, “You go back first.”

Suppressing his displeasure somewhat, Jiang Lan withdrew his gaze and spoke in a calm tone, “Alright, take care of yourself and rest early.”Full novel: Mrs. Sheng’s Miscarriage, Mr. Sheng Copies Buddhist Scriptures Three Thousand Times — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Come in with me.” This was directed at Jiang Wan.

Sheng Lianjue walked to the front door, pressed his fingerprint to unlock it, and turned on the light in the entryway.

He strode into the living room on his own, took off his rain-soaked black suit jacket, and casually tossed it onto the sofa. Unbuttoning his cuffs, he rolled up his sleeves, revealing his well-defined forearms. “Go to your room, change your clothes, and come back down. Then we’ll talk.”

“I’ll leave as soon as we’re done talking. There’s no need to waste a set of clothes. I can’t afford it, and I can’t pay for it.”

In the past, even though Sheng Lianjue didn’t love her, he had never mistreated her when it came to food and clothing.

The clothes and jewelry she wore were all custom-made, high-end brands. Some brands weren’t even available for public sale—they were priceless and exclusive. Now that she and Sheng Lianjue were at the point of divorce, she shouldn’t touch those things anymore.

Sheng Lianjue’s brows furrowed deeply. Standing before her, he looked down at her with a cold, piercing gaze. “Money? So you’re divorcing me because you’ve taken money from someone else?” He narrowed his eyes dangerously and said coldly, “What do you know besides money?”

“Was what I gave you not enough?”

When it came to the matter of divorcing him, Sheng Lianjue seemed trapped in a dead-end alley. He never looked for reasons within himself for why she wanted a divorce.

Because of his stubbornness, he always believed that whatever he did was right, and the fault always lay with others.

“Did I guess right?” He leaned down, pinched her chin, and forced her to look up.

He didn’t like seeing her like this.

Jiang Wan: “Sheng Lianjue… do you love me?”

“What are you trying to say?”

“I want to say, doesn’t it bother you to keep a wife you don’t love by your side?”

“Is it that you think everyone who approaches you is after money?”

Jiang Wan took a step back, avoiding his hand, and said to him expressionlessly, “…I know I’ve always been an unnecessary presence. I shouldn’t have returned to the Jiang family to reunite with them. I’ll say it again: I’m divorcing you to make room for you and Jiang Lan.”

“As for the reason…” Jiang Wan smiled, “One day, you’ll understand.”

“So just think of it as me no longer loving you, which is why I’m divorcing you!”

From the first moment she saw Sheng Lianjue, Jiang Wan couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of inferiority.

He was like a clear breeze under the moonlight, lofty and unattainable—the pride of the capital city, the heir to the Sheng family. And what was she? Just someone who grew up in the countryside, an ignorant village girl.

Even after finding her own family, deep down, she always felt inferior when facing him and Jiang Lan.

If her adoptive mother hadn’t brought her back to the Jiang family to reunite with them, their paths would never have crossed in this lifetime.

Sheng Lianjue frowned, his anger spreading uncontrollably.

Jiang Wan didn’t expect him to understand any of this. She quickly softened her tone: “Sheng Lianjue, I’m begging you. For the sake of our three years as husband and wife, let my older brother go.”

“Jiang Wan, playing hard to get once is enough. Take back those words, and I can pretend nothing happened.” His voice was icy, devoid of any warmth.Jiang Wan didn’t know if it was because of his words or the intense pain in her lower abdomen, but her eyes shimmered with crystalline light. “Sheng Lianjue, this time I’m serious. I’m not putting on an act for you. We should have ended things long ago.”

Seeing the tears threatening to fall, Sheng Lianjue felt an overwhelming irritation in his chest. He picked up his phone, unsure what to do, and made a call.

“…Book two tickets for Xishuangbanna tomorrow.”

After instructing Gao Yuan, Sheng Lianjue hung up.

He stared at Jiang Wan. “Feeling better now?”

Even now, he was still brushing her off.

Thinking she was just being unreasonable!

Jiang Wan looked up at the ceiling, but still couldn’t hold back her tears.

Plop—

Tears splattered on the floor. She wiped them away with one hand and suddenly laughed, “…The reason I kept pestering you to take me to Xishuangbanna was because that day was our third wedding anniversary. Do you understand?” Her voice choked with sobs.

That day was their wedding anniversary?

Jiang Wan could already guess from his bewildered expression.

He didn’t even remember when they had gotten married.

Sheng Lianjue rarely showed a hint of guilt, but to Jiang Wan, it felt like pity. “Jiang Wan, I’m very busy!”

“If it’s because of this, I can make it up to you.”

Jiang Wan slapped away his outstretched hand, tears now falling even more fiercely. “Not everything can be made up for after it’s already happened.”

Jiang Wan’s breathing suddenly became rapid, her lower abdomen cramping painfully. Her body swayed unsteadily, almost unable to stand.

Sheng Lianjue noticed something was wrong. Just as he reached out to steady her, Jiang Wan suddenly went limp and collapsed into his arms.

“Jiang Wan!”

Sheng Lianjue touched her body and realized she was drenched in sweat and burning hot.

She had a fever.

Sheng Lianjue strode upstairs, carrying her back to the master bedroom.

He prepared to change her clothes.

But he discovered that the walk-in closet, which had once been filled with Jiang Wan’s clothes, now contained none of her belongings.

It was all filled with Sheng Lianjue’s uniform black shirts and suits.

Sheng Lianjue’s brow furrowed deeply.

Without his permission, who had cleared out all these clothes?
