Athissa removed her thick, black glasses and rubbed her temples.

“I’ve had many similar cases like this before.

I don’t know if any of you are hiding an important detail to the story, but I suggest you go to the pack healer to see if she can help you with your wolf problems.

I’ll just give you medications,” Athissa explained.

Then she gave a new written prescription to Nerissa.

“We don’t need the medications.

As I’ve said.

My mate can handle the little pain.” Nerissa held her hands up, clearly rejecting it.

“I’ll still give you one.

It’s up to you if you’re going to use it or not.

I’ll let you handle this.

I think you know what to do next,” Athissa smiled, a type of smile with a hidden meaning behind it and slid the paper to Nerissa.

Nerissa stared at the doctor for a few seconds before nodding her head in understanding.

She took the prescription and placed it inside her bag.

“We’ll be going now,” Nerissa stated, stood up, and pulled Devin beside her aggressively.

“Hey!

Ouch!

Be gentle!” Devin exclaimed in pain, but Nerissa paid him no mind and continued pulling him until they were out of the door.

Athissa sighed deeply and slouched back to her chair.

Devin’s situation was not new to her, and in the end, she could only prescribe him pain medications.

After a few seconds, Mary entered with a curious look.

“Are you okay?”

“Of course, why won’t I be?” Athissa muttered, yawning.

“They’re all the same, men who can’t keep their hands off their little banana.”

“That’s not a nice word…” Mary shook her head in amusement.

She was used to Athissa’s way of speaking, but sometimes she was still shocked upon hearing them.

“It’s a fruit, Mary, but imagine getting beat up by a ‘girl’ hahaha,” Athissa laughed out loud.

“Are they that weak?”

“Shh!” Mary hurriedly hushed Athissa with her index finger on her lips.

She looked around to see if there was anyone nearby, and thankfully there wasn’t.

“You should not be saying that, doctor.

What if someone hears you?

You know how they hate she-wolves questioning their masculinity!” Mary placed both hands on her hips and raised a brow.

Athissa rolled her eyes and nodded.

“Yeah, they believe they are the greater species.”

“I mean, in terms of strength, yes,” Mary shrugged since it was the most common thing to think about.

“Yes, that is how they see it, but ever wonder how many got beat up by a girl.

They underestimate their enemy too easily.” Athissa retorted.

Athissa had always hated how men downgraded women’s strength and capabilities in their pack.

“And that… is actually a big deal now since the alpha received so many complaints from men getting assaulted by an unknown girl,” Mary stated, sighing again.

Mary grabbed a cloth and started cleaning Athissa’s table and sorted the papers nearby.

“Ugh, I don’t wanna hear it,” Athissa covered her ears and shook her head like a child.

“Also… I believed your father wanted to see you today… I hope you didn’t forget,” Mary reminded, placing the last notebook on the side.

Athissa glared at Mary.

“Why do you have to remind me of that nonsense again?” She crossed her arms, and from her posture, she didn’t want to leave the clinic.

“You might be a pack doctor, but you’re still a beta’s daughter.

That comes with responsibilities,” Mary smiled, showing delight as she teased Athissa.

“NOOOO!” Athissa screamed and slumped onto her chair, then to the floor.

Mary didn’t say a word and let Athissa have her mental breakdown.

She went to the clinic’s door and placed a ‘closed’ sign outside.

That was the end of her day.

On the other hand, Athissa was dreading leaving.

She didn’t like going to the pack house and preferred to stay away, especially from her parents.

“I think my lifespan will lessen again after this meet-up,” Athissa whispered as she stared at the ceiling, still lying on the floor.

“Get up now.

The earlier you get there.

The faster you’ll leave,” Mary yelled from outside Athissa’s office.

Athissa’s parents always disagreed with her becoming a doctor and much preferred that she learn to be a graceful lady as the beta’s daughter.

Since she might have a good chance of securing a high-ranking mate in the future.

They only stopped when Athissa reached the age of 25, since they deemed her too old to find a mate.

She was now 28 years old.

“Hmm, they told me to be there by 6:00 pm… meh,” Athissa muttered and helplessly pulled herself up.

Athissa grabbed her bag, left the clinic, and decided to walk rather than ride a carriage so she could take as much time as she needed.

She didn’t care if she was going to be late to their meet-up time.

Even though Athissa was a pack doctor, she wasn’t that popular since most wolves could heal themselves, but of course there were rare cases that she was essential.

Also, there was a pack healer, a traditional type, and its job was mostly about one’s wolf.

“Ah, the air seems nice today,” Athissa murmured as she took a deep breath, enjoying the smell of nature, but then something wet hit her cheeks.

Athissa looked up and saw the sky darkening, and it took a few seconds before a splatter of rain fell down.

However, Athissa didn’t move from her spot.

Her smile vanished and was replaced with tiredness.

She continued walking even though the rain started to get heavier.

“I guess the sky knows my devastation of returning home,” Athissa stated softly.

She couldn’t help but laugh sarcastically while walking.

The passerby looked at Athissa with their brows furrowed.

As if they were looking at a mentally challenged person, and their thoughts said one thing.

“What a crazy bitch.”

Athissa finally reached the city’s shopping center.

However, the place looked deserted due to the heavy rain as the people took shelter, but Athissa didn’t care and continued to her destination.

When Athissa was getting close, the guards barely even recognized her from being soaked in the rain.

Though it didn’t take long for them to notice it was her, since no sane person, especially with a higher rank, would let themselves be unkempt.

“Miss Athissa, you’ve returned,” one of the guards greeted, but Athissa only waved her hand tiredly before entering the pach house’s door.

“Should we get her a towel?” Another guard spoke worriedly.

“I think… we should let her be,” the guard replied.

They both went back to their position and watched the rain drop violently from the sky.

This chapter contains questionable decisions, emotional damage, and at least one character who desperately needs therapy.
