"Yeah. Your little clansman is very serious about his training." Ren nodded. He had already deduced that the boy had a good backing back home. So, he tried to paint a good image of the boy in front of the regular guard, hiding Bo’s death.
....
"Here. Pass him these 4 loaves. Oh, if he doesn’t happen to receive 4..." The guard offered twice the normal quantity for the boy and also warned him to deliver it sincerely.
"Don’t worry. I won’t be cheating a kid with his meal." He laughed it off, holding the bread loaves enviously.
"Hmm?" The guard seemed confused after Ren took the bread but did not leave. What was he waiting for? Did he want more?
"Who’s that boy?" However, Ren asked for something else. He wanted to know about the boy’s identity, his background.
"Why? Did he do something?" The guard seemed intrigued and enquired. Did something happen to the boy?
"Nothing much." Ren shook his head. "Don’t bother then. He has people trying to curry favour with him. Don’t trouble the boy." The guard warned.
"I see." Ren muttered as he saw the guard leave.
’No identity reveal? Must be an inner clan resident, Elder’s family?’
"What’s the point? I can just ask anyone who arrived after the boy. He would surely know about the rumours." As he walked back, he realised that he could just ask a newcomer.
...
"Boss! I picked a golden goose this time." Instead of going back to Ye Yaming, he went ahead and brought the boy to meet the leader of the jail.
"Is he the boy? Who killed Bo?" The leader leaned back on the majestic throne made of rock as he asked.
"Yes Boss! The boy is sharp and decisive. He went for a kill with a smile." Ren was really impressed by the boy and considering the boy’s background, he would be a good subordinate.
"Why did you kill that guy?" The boss Li Shan asked, his eyes trailed over Ye Yaming’s body.
"He made me angry!" Ye Yaming honestly replied. He knew he was in trouble but it was a place filled with criminals. How could he remain safe?
’Doesn’t look like he’s called me for revenge, a recruitment, perhaps.’
Just as Ye Yaming was thinking, Li Shan, the leader of the jail leaned forward and a huge pressure emanated from his body, directly pressing physically on Ye Yaming.
’What does he want?’ The pressure was too much for his fragile body. The man Li Shan was easily close to First-rate. Ye Yaming kneeled on the floor, groaning, as he looked at Li Shan.
"Are you angry at me?" Li Shan asked, a wicked grin on his face as he questioned.
"No." Ye Yaming shook his head. There was no point in being honest in front of a bully. But he did add Li Shan’a name in the list of people to put down.
"We should take him in." Ren suggested from the side. He understood that the boss was just testing out the boy’s strength. As long as the boy remained respectful, the boss would recruit him.
"What do you say, boy?" Li Shan smirked as he looked at Ye Yaming and asked. Did he want to work under him?
"Sure." Ye Yaming nodded hurriedly and the pressure from Li Shan disappeared.
"But he is going to be out in just a year." While Ye Yaming was trying to guess the type of Beast Soul the man on the throne possessed, Ren lamented the fact that the boy would be released soon.
"That’s not a problem." Li Shan looked at the boy and smirked.
"Spread the news that he killed someone close to me and I have taken him as my slave." He instructed Ren to spread the word that Ye Yaming was under him now.
The jail was full of politics and had many groups. Li Shan, however, was the strongest, and was known as the ruler of the jail. He needed subordinates to reinforce his rules.
"Hmm? Got a problem?" Li Shan glanced at Ye Yaming, a subtle expression of dissatisfaction could be seen on the boy’s face as he questioned.
"No." Ye Yaming shook his head in denial. What could he do in front of a Peak Second rate warrior. Especially when the warrior possessed a Beast Soul too. It was easy for them to punch up in rank.
"Good. You’re smart." Li Shan nodded. He signalled Ye Yaming to leave while Ren stayed.
"What do you think?" After Ye Yaming left, Li Shan asked his subordinate Ren. Was the boy good? Would he be able to do it?
"I have two guys. They attacked the boy together with the man he killed." Ren explained to him about the two men who had attacked Ye Yaming. He had heard directly from them about the incident.
"I see." Li Shan nodded. He thought for a while, searching for a solution.
"Are those men here?" If the two men were in the prison with them then he could arrange a test for the boy.
"They are." Ren nodded, wondering what the boss was thinking.
"Order the boy to finish them before this week." Li Shan ordered. He wanted the boy to do his first task in the jail as revenge. The two men were Ye Yaming’s enemy. So, it would not be a problem for the boy’s conscience to push through the task.
Even if his family negotiates, the clan would need to compensate him. If they don’t then he would get a good seedling.
