Kakashi Hatake!
18: Obito Uchiha vs.
Kakashi Hatake!
Obito Uchiha appeared at the end of the bridge without warning.
He was still wearing his three-tomoe Rinnegan-pattern mask.
Minato had already exposed his identity in front of the entire Allied Shinobi Forces, so the mask no longer served any practical purpose.
At this point, he wore it more out of habit than necessity.
“Obito…” Kakashi stared at him, visibly shaken.
“I never imagined the masked man was really you.” The greatest enemy of the shinobi world had turned out to be the teammate Kakashi had treasured more than anyone else.
For years, he had believed Obito died during the Battle of Kannabi Bridge.
Instead, Obito had survived and become one of the greatest threats the world had ever faced.
“You’re still as foolish as ever, Kakashi.” Obito gave a dismissive snort.
“Why did you do all of this?” Kakashi could not understand.
“If you survived, why didn’t you return to Konoha?” “Stop asking pointless questions.” Obito’s visible eye turned red as the tomoe of his Sharingan appeared.
“Do you know why I came to find you?” Kakashi’s body stiffened.
He already knew the answer.
“That’s right.” Obito’s voice became cold.
“I came to reclaim my other Sharingan.” “You weren’t planning to keep it forever, were you?” He took a step forward.
Kakashi remained frozen in place, torn by indecision.
The eye had originally belonged to Obito.
By all rights, returning it seemed reasonable.
But the man standing before him was no longer the Obito he remembered.
Obito had chosen a dark path and become an enemy of the entire shinobi world.
Giving him the Sharingan now would only make him even more dangerous.
“Stay where you are, Obito Uchiha!” Guy stepped in front of Kakashi and raised his kunai.
Obito stopped.
“What is this supposed to mean, Might Guy?” “We are facing a greater threat.” Guy’s voice rang across the bridge.
“Ren-sama ordered everyone to set aside their personal grudges until the battle against the gods is over.” “If you attack Kakashi now, you will be breaking Ren-sama’s rules.” Guy deliberately raised his voice, hoping to attract attention and discourage Obito from continuing.
“I have no intention of breaking the rules.” Obito gave a quiet laugh.
“I’m about to enter Ragnarok and fight the gods, yet I still don’t possess both of my Sharingan.” “Without both eyes, I cannot display my true strength.” “If that causes me to lose, humanity could be destroyed because of a single defeat.” “Are you willing to risk the extinction of the human race just so Kakashi can keep my eye?” Obito had spent years operating from the shadows.
He had become skilled at twisting words and exploiting the weaknesses in other people’s hearts.
After hearing him, Kakashi began to believe that returning the eye might truly be necessary.
Every match in Ragnarok could decide whether humanity survived or perished.
“Don’t listen to him!” Guy’s powerful hand clamped around Kakashi’s wrist just as Kakashi was about to reach for his eye.
“If you can’t defeat a god without taking Kakashi’s eye, then you’re simply too weak.” “You wouldn’t deserve a place in Ragnarok.” Guy had no interest in Obito’s manipulative excuses.
“Guy…” Kakashi froze.
The hesitation in his mind cleared.
Guy was right.
He should not allow himself to be controlled by Obito’s words.
Obito’s anger finally surfaced.
“That eye belongs to me.” “No one will stop me from taking it back.” “Fire Style: Raging Fire Dragon Dance!” Obito attacked.
Three enormous fire dragons erupted from his mouth, twisting around one another as they tore across the bridge toward Kakashi and Guy.
The wooden structure was destroyed almost instantly.
“Fire Style: Raging Fire Dragon Dance!” Kakashi copied the technique at once.
Three identical fire dragons surged forward and collided with Obito’s attack.
There was a reason he was known as Copy Ninja Kakashi.
“Wood Style: Binding Vines Technique!” Obito formed another series of hand seals.
Dozens of thick vines burst from the ground and reached toward Kakashi and Guy, attempting to bind them.
“Water Style: Water Severing Technique!” Standing on the surface of the river, Kakashi expelled a narrow stream of highly pressurized water.
The water sliced through the air like a blade.
With a single sweep, it severed every vine.
Guy moved at the same time and rapidly closed the distance.
“Leaf Whirlwind!” His spinning kick came crashing toward Obito’s shoulder.
Obito raised one hand and caught Guy by the ankle.
Kamui activated.
Guy was pulled into the Kamui dimension and vanished from the bridge.
“Guy!” Kakashi shouted in alarm.
Obito’s ability left a terrifying impression.
Anyone he touched could be drawn into another dimension, making it seem as though being captured meant certain death.
That was not actually the case.
Obito had only sent Guy into the Kamui dimension so he would no longer interfere with the battle.
“Kakashi.” Obito’s voice was almost casual.
“After all these years, you still can’t protect your teammates.” The words struck Kakashi exactly where Obito intended.
Kakashi tightened his grip on his kunai and charged.
He refused to give Obito another opportunity to seize him.
Obito met him barehanded.
The two former teammates clashed in close combat.
Their blows came rapidly, each movement shaped by years of experience and familiarity with the other’s habits.
After dozens of exchanges, the difference in taijutsu became clear.
Kakashi held the advantage.
Obito was gradually forced onto the defensive.
