Several days earlier, Minato had received a message from the village ordering all jonin outside Konoha to return.
At the time, Minato had been leading Kakashi, Obito, and Rin on a mission in a small country.
But the mission had already been mostly completed, so he chose to finish it before returning with his three subordinates.
Precisely because he insisted on finishing the mission first, he had taken a shortcut through the valley where the Kumogakure spies were meeting in order to save time.
When Minato heard explosions and the sounds of battle, he thought of how close this place was to the village and immediately realized Konoha ninja were likely fighting enemies.
So he rushed to the scene at once.
Minato had not yet made a name for himself throughout the shinobi world.
Because of that, although the spies recognized him as a Konoha jonin after seeing his face, they were not afraid.
Kakui felt somewhat uneasy as he looked at Minato, a jonin, standing before him.
But that was all.
If they could kill a lunatic like Yuto, then surely they could trade a few blows with a Konoha jonin.
“You can’t take all of us by yourself, Minato Namikaze!”
Lightning poured into Kakui’s ninja blade.
His lightning-covered slash came down with blinding force, only to strike empty air the instant it brushed Minato’s hair.
“What?!”
Kakui’s pupils shrank.
A violent surge of chakra suddenly came from behind him.
He turned stiffly and saw Minato appear behind him at some point, a blue Rasengan in his palm slamming into Kakui’s back.
“Rasengan!”
The dull sound of bones breaking and the explosion of chakra rang out at the same time.
Kakui flew more than ten meters like a torn rag and smashed heavily into the rock wall.
The remaining two spies had only just thrown kunai toward Minato when their vision blurred.
Golden light flashed.
Minato’s figure appeared behind one of them, and another Rasengan drove through the man’s chest.
The last spy felt a chill at his throat.
The bloodstained kunai in his own hand had somehow been turned back and stabbed into his neck.
When the dust cleared, Minato flicked the blood from his kunai, and three corpses crashed to the ground.
Tsukimi trembled as she held Yuto’s blood-soaked body.
Tears spilled onto his stained clothes.
Her two-tomoe Sharingan spun wildly, the red in her eyes growing deeper and deeper.
In the middle of that pain, a third tomoe suddenly took shape.
“No…
don’t die…
you idiot!”
In the distance, Oroi saw his three subordinates killed so easily by Minato.
Shock loosened his arms for an instant.
Shisui seized the opportunity.
His three-tomoe Sharingan glared sharply.
“Genjutsu: Sharingan!”
Oroi’s arms loosened at once.
Shisui slipped out from beneath him, turned, and sent a kunai piercing through his heart.
Oroi collapsed, coughing up blood.
His final gaze remained fixed on Minato.
Even in death, he could not understand how that blond young man had wiped out all his subordinates in a single breath.
When war came, this man would definitely become a great enemy of his village.
Unfortunately, Oroi would never have the chance to send information about Minato back.
After killing Oroi, Shisui quickly rushed to Yuto’s side and bent down to check his injuries.
When his fingertips touched Yuto’s faint pulse, Shisui’s tense expression eased slightly.
“He’s still alive!”
Before he could say anything more, three figures suddenly appeared in the valley.
It was Kakashi, Obito, and Rin.
When Obito saw the person lying on the ground, he cried out,
“That’s Yuto!
How did he get hurt this badly?”
During their time at the Ninja Academy, Yuto had been one year ahead of Kakashi, Obito, and Rin.
However, Rin and Kakashi did not know Yuto.
Before the current Yuto took over, the original owner of this body had been considered fairly weak among the Uchiha and a little socially anxious, so he had never become famous at the Academy.
Obito knew Yuto because they had both been dead-last students.
They had greeted each other a few times during their time at the Academy.
Rin had already knelt beside Yuto, her hands glowing with pale green light.
“A penetrating wound…
internal bleeding.
I have to stop the bleeding first.”
When Tsukimi saw Rin using medical ninjutsu, she realized the other girl was a medical ninja.
She immediately grabbed Rin’s arm and pleaded,
“Please save Yuto.
He ended up like this because he was protecting me.”
Rin nodded, trying to reassure her.
“I’ll do my best to stop the bleeding, but my medical ability is limited.
With injuries this severe, he has to be taken to Konoha Hospital as soon as possible.”
Then Rin looked toward Minato.
As a fellow Konoha jonin, Shisui naturally knew Minato could use the Flying Raijin Jutsu and return to the village in an instant.
He immediately said to Minato,
“Minato, please help take Yuto to Konoha Hospital…”
Shisui’s voice was a little hoarse.
He was filled with regret.
He had only recently promised Nono that he would protect Yuto properly, yet in the blink of an eye, Yuto was on the verge of death.
Minato showed a gentle smile and reassured Shisui.
“Rin will stabilize his injuries first.
In five minutes, I will use Flying Raijin to take him back to Konoha Hospital.”
Obito, who had not yet gone down his darker path, was still acting like an idiot.
He squatted beside Yuto and suddenly pointed at the strange curve of Yuto’s mouth.
“Hey!
This guy is smiling!
He’s about to die, and he’s still smiling?!”
The moment he finished speaking, Tsukimi glared at him fiercely with her three-tomoe Sharingan.
Yuto was already in this state, yet Obito was still making sarcastic remarks.
If the situation had not been wrong, she truly would have punched him hard in the face.
Even Kakashi, who had not spoken the entire time, was speechless.
He pressed a hand to his forehead.
Obito, that dead last, really was an idiot.
Rin’s chakra sank deep into the wound, but her brows tightened more and more.
“Something is wrong…
his muscles are relaxed, like he’s waiting for something.”
A few minutes later, under Rin’s treatment, the bleeding from Yuto’s wounds had clearly lessened.
However, the moment she reduced her chakra output even slightly, blood immediately surged out of the wound again.
She shook her head at Minato and said with a bitter expression,
“Minato-sensei, I can’t.
The bleeding won’t stop at all.”
Minato made a quick decision and placed both hands on Rin and Yuto at the same time.
“Don’t worry.
I’m here.”
Before he could finish speaking, golden light flashed in place.
The three of them vanished, transported to Konoha by the Flying Raijin Jutsu.
Inside the valley, Obito was still very curious about how Yuto had ended up so badly injured, but he no longer dared provoke Tsukimi.
The oppressive mood around Tsukimi made Obito deeply uncomfortable.
He leaned closer to Shisui and asked in a low voice,
“Shisui, what happened to Yuto?”
Shisui sighed and said nothing.
Tsukimi also heard Obito’s question.
Her eyes red, she said,
“Yuto was trying to protect me…”
“I should have been the one who fell.”
Obito was extremely shocked.
Although he had long heard that Yuto often protected his teammates during missions, he had not expected Yuto to go this far, even disregarding his own life.
His actions reminded Obito of someone.
Kakashi’s father, the White Fang of Konoha.
Back then, the White Fang had abandoned a mission to protect his comrades, only to eventually take his own life under the weight of the village’s rumors and criticism.
Obito turned and looked at Kakashi.
After hearing why Yuto had been injured, Kakashi was visibly uncomfortable.
Kakashi’s fists clenched unconsciously, and under his mask, his lips pressed into a thin line.
