Fire Release ninjutsu was unlike other ninjutsu.

Its power was fairly high, but its attack speed was slower, which made it easy to dodge.

That was also one of the reasons behind the joke that Fire Release never killed anyone.

In terms of the actual setting, Fire Release and Wind Release were supposed to be the two most lethal of the five nature transformations.

Among the spies, even the weakest was a chunin.

As a result, Yuto’s Great Fireball did not score any hits.

The spies dodged it quite easily.

But Yuto had not used the Great Fireball Jutsu to attack.

He had used it to block the Kumogakure spies.

The fireball smashed into the valley exit, igniting the surrounding trees and shrubs.

A wall of fire formed, effectively cutting off the spies’ retreat.

At the same time, Shisui and Tsukimi flipped out of their hiding places and used their best ninjutsu to attack the Kumogakure spies.

Oroi calmly looked at the three of them.

From the way they attacked, he judged that Shisui was the strongest, likely a jonin.

Judging by Tsukimi’s two-tomoe Sharingan, she was probably a chunin.

As for Yuto, Oroi could not get a read on him.

His clothes also carried the fan-shaped clan crest, yet for some reason, he had not activated the Sharingan.

In truth, the answer was simple.

Yuto had never awakened it.

His soul came from Earth, and his way of thinking was far more rational and calm than that of the Uchiha clan.

He would never lose control of his emotions as easily as an ordinary Uchiha.

On top of that, every time he fought, he charged at the front.

He had never experienced something like a teammate dying in front of him.

Ordinary emotional shocks were not enough to awaken his eyes.

Oroi thought it over and decided Yuto was probably not a jonin.

In that case, he did not need to pay too much attention to him.

He could simply leave Yuto to the others.

He pointed toward Tsukimi and Yuto, then said to the Kumogakure spies behind him,

“You handle those two brats.

I will deal with the rest.”

Seeing Oroi, the strongest enemy, charge toward Shisui, Yuto could only fight the remaining Kumogakure spies alongside Tsukimi.

There was nothing he could do.

Oroi was too fast.

The two of them could not catch up at all.

Looking at Yuto in front of him, Kakui sneered.

He had not expected this Uchiha brat, who had not even awakened the Sharingan, to dare stand in their way.

Kakui was an elite chunin from Kumogakure.

He specialized in swordsmanship and Lightning Release ninjutsu.

Even against an ordinary jonin, he could hold his own for a while.

“Don’t make me laugh.

A brat like you dares stand in my way?”

A vicious smile appeared on Kakui’s face.

Lightning covered his ninja blade as he brought it down in a sudden slash.

Yuto’s gaze sharpened.

His body dropped low, and he flashed to the man’s side with the Body Flicker Technique.

A fierce whip kick swept toward Kakui’s waist.

Bang!

Kakui blocked in a hurry, but he was still knocked back two steps.

Surprise flashed in his eyes.

“This brat’s taijutsu is pretty strong.”

Kakui’s impression was not wrong.

Although Yuto refused to learn ninjutsu, his taijutsu had improved rapidly through repeated life-or-death battles.

It was more than enough to suppress an ordinary chunin.

The village simply had not promoted him to chunin, which was why Yuto still believed his strength was only at the genin level.

His assault did not stop.

His fists and feet came like a storm, every strike aimed precisely at joints and vital points.

Kakui was forced to switch from offense to defense, and for a moment, even the edge of his ninja blade was suppressed.

Irritation flashed through his eyes.

Putting away his earlier contempt, he formed hand seals and shouted,

“Lightning Release: Ground Current!”

In an instant, blinding lightning burst from his palm and raced along the ground like a snake, heading straight for Yuto’s feet.

Yuto’s pupils shrank.

He leaped backward, but the lightning suddenly exploded, and the splashing current numbed his right leg.

Kakui took the chance to thrust with his blade.

Lightning Release chakra wrapped around the edge, producing a sharp hum.

Yuto gritted his teeth and twisted aside.

Using one hand to brace against the ground, he spun away from the blade’s edge and countered with an elbow strike aimed straight at Kakui’s throat.

Kakui blocked it with his arm.

“Your taijutsu is fast, but can it beat lightning?”

Kakui grinned savagely and formed hand seals again.

Lightning gathered into a sphere in his palm.

“Lightning Release: Lightning Strike!”

Lightning Release: Lightning Strike was a ninjutsu that gathered lightning in the palm and attacked the enemy with the overflow of electricity.

In the original story, it was used by Omoi.

If used in water, its range was wider, but when released through open air, it consumed less chakra and had greater power.

Yuto’s right leg was numb from Lightning Release, making his movements slightly slow.

The Lightning Release in Kakui’s palm was already roaring toward him.

He barely rolled aside.

The lightning sphere brushed past his shoulder, and the exploding shock wave threw him to the ground.

Kakui pressed the advantage, his ninja blade stabbing straight toward Yuto’s chest.

Not far away, Tsukimi’s two-tomoe Sharingan caught Yuto’s danger.

She cried out in alarm.

“Yuto!”

She tried to break away and help him, but two Kumogakure spies forced her back with coordinated Lightning Release.

Kunai and shuriken wove into a net, trapping her in place.

“Damn it!”

Tsukimi gritted her teeth, her Sharingan spinning wildly, but she could not break through the blockade for the moment.

Just as the ninja blade stabbed toward him, Yuto suddenly raised his head.

A crazed smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

His hands completed the seals at an unbelievable speed.

Under Kakui’s shocked gaze, Yuto gathered chakra in his throat.

The two of them were less than half a meter apart.

“Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!”

With the Tiger seal held before him, a large orange-red fireball erupted from Yuto’s mouth and slammed into Kakui’s chest at point-blank range.

The force of the explosion sent both of them flying.

Kakui’s ninja blade clattered to the ground, and he crashed through three trees before stopping, his face full of disbelief.

“Is he insane…?

That was a suicide attack!”

If the compensation rules did not forbid Yuto from committing suicide, he would not even have used the Great Fireball Jutsu at point-blank range just now.

He would have simply waited for death.

Unfortunately, the rules said he had to fight with everything he had.

Still, there was almost no difference now.

He had already shown his strength.

Surely, the spies surrounding Tsukimi would soon turn their firepower toward him.

Her Sharingan spun rapidly, and sweat soaked her hair at the temples.

The two Kumogakure spies coordinated their ninjutsu perfectly, forcing her toward a dead end against the rock wall.

Just as she barely forced the two of them back, a third spy suddenly attacked from the side, his kunai stabbing toward her ribs.

“Ngh!”

Tsukimi grunted and twisted away from the vital point, but her left arm was still cut open.

She gritted her teeth and threw three shuriken, forcing the enemy back.

Then she saw two of the spies exchange cold smiles, turn around, and rush toward another battlefield.

They were heading toward Yuto.

“Oh no!”

Tsukimi’s heart sank.

Those spies had deliberately left one person behind to hold her back while the others went after Yuto.

This was bad.

He had just taken the backlash from a Great Fireball at point-blank range.

Even if Yuto were not injured right now, how could he possibly fight three chunin at once?

At that moment, Yuto was staggering out of the smoke from the explosion, while Kakui had already climbed up with a savage smile.

Together with the other two spies, he formed a triangular encirclement.

Lightning and blade edges flashed at the same time, closing in on Yuto’s vital points.

Yuto’s pupils contracted violently with excitement, and his grin almost stretched to his ears.

Surrounded by three chunin?

This was practically a gift from heaven.

He laughed wildly and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.

Chakra boiled through his body.

“Come on!

You want to run?

Kill me first!”
