Half an hour later, Nan Yin, who had just finished showering and was wrapped in a towel, came out when the police officer knocked on the door.

Qin Deng had reported the incident to the police. After checking the surveillance footage, it turned out the culprit had rented Fu Shi’s apartment?

Qin Deng didn’t know that Nan Yin and Ruan Yu were acquainted with his boss, Mr. Fu. Handling the matter strictly by the book, he insisted on an apology and had the police officer come to file a report.

Ruan Yu went to open the door. A middle-aged police officer with a kind appearance showed his badge and explained the whole situation.

Ruan Yu, the young lady she was, couldn’t help but mutter under her breath: “Holy crap.”

“Yinyin, how can Fu Shi be so petty? He actually called the police?”

Nan Yin, however, understood Fu Shi’s perspective. After all, if someone scribbled on her beloved car, she would call the police too.

“Officer, what should we do to make amends?” Nan Yin pulled Ruan Yu’s hand, drawing her aside as she took charge.

Seeing her cooperative attitude, the officer said, “The other party isn’t asking for compensation, just an apology.”

An apology?

No big deal.

Nan Yin smiled gently. “Alright, please take me to him.”

She had been worried about not having a chance to see him.

Unaware of her ulterior motives, the officer lowered his head to record the details in his body camera and said, “Since you’ve reached a settlement and you’re willing to apologize, there’s no need for us to handle this further.”

“You can go to his company with his assistant later.”

Nan Yin understood. “Thank you, officer.”

After the officer closed the case and left, Nan Yin turned to Ruan Yu, who was still complaining, and said, “Yubao, go play at my place first. I’ll go see him.”

“Sweetie, are you really going to apologize?” Ruan Yu was taken aback, suddenly calming down with a hint of worry. “Actually, I know I was in the wrong. I just have a quick temper.”

“I’m sorry, Yinyin. Will this get you disliked by him?” She hadn’t known the Hummer belonged to Fu Shi.

“No, I’ll go with you. This was my doing.”

Nan Yin, however, didn’t overthink it. “He probably isn’t as petty as you think.”

Fu Shi might be aloof, but he certainly wasn’t a petty man.

Just then, Qin Deng outside grew impatient and began knocking loudly on the door. “Ladies inside, are you ready yet?”

“Our Mr. Fu is very busy.”

Hearing this, Nan Yin smoothed her long hair and said, “Just a moment.”

“Almost ready.”

With that, she headed to the bedroom to put on makeup and change into a dress.

By the time she finished, over ten minutes had passed.

Outside the door, Qin Deng was on the verge of losing his patience. Had he known waiting for women would be such a hassle, he would have let the police take them away to avoid this dawdling.

“Excuse me, are you ready yet?” Qin Deng glanced at his wristwatch and began urging them again through the apartment door.

As soon as he finished speaking, the door swung open with a clatter.

Nan Yin stepped out first, dressed in bright and eye-catching attire. As she emerged, a faint, intoxicating scent of roses wafted over, mingling with her charming appearance, leaving Qin Deng, a single man, staring wide-eyed.

He opened his mouth to urge them, but not a single word came out.

In the surveillance footage, her features had been unclear, but he had vaguely sensed she was beautiful. Now, seeing her clearly, he could only think: So stunning!

The woman before him had bright eyes and gleaming teeth, an exquisite oval face, and long, thick brown hair cascading over her shoulders. A few stray strands near her ears were pinned back with a pearl hair clip.

A bright and vibrant purple form-fitting cheongsam with a cinched waist.

More beautiful than a celebrity.

Qin Deng couldn’t help but swallow hard, quickly closing his mouth and lowering his head in awkward shyness.

“Alright, sorry about that.” Nan Yin greeted gently, “Could you please take me to see your President Fu?”

Qin Deng didn’t dare say another word, awkwardly scratching his short hair and forcing a smile. “Sure.”

Indeed, a beautiful woman truly is an effective calling card.

He now felt guilty for having spoken so harshly to such a stunningly beautiful woman earlier.

“Please follow me.”

With that, Qin Deng turned around, his heart racing as he hurried toward the elevator. Nan Yin and Ruan Yu exchanged a glance before following.

Soon, they descended to the parking lot.

Nan Yin got into Qin Deng’s Mercedes-Benz. As soon as she sat down, the faint scent of Buddhist prayer beads and sandalwood mixed with a hint of a familiar, cool masculine fragrance wafted toward her.

Back in high school, during a physical education class, Nan Yin had accidentally bumped into Fu Shi and fallen into his arms.

The cool fragrance she smelled in his embrace at that time was exactly the same as the scent in the car.

Of course, Fu Shi wasn’t the meticulous type—he didn’t wear cologne. To him, wearing cologne was effeminate behavior.

That was his own natural scent.

In her panic, her nose had brushed against his T-shirt. Through the thin fabric, she had memorized the cool fragrance emanating from him.

It truly smelled wonderful.

Over the years, she had gone to university in the capital and stayed there to work, encountering many men who wore cologne. Yet, none of their scents had left such a lasting impression on her.

Moreover, just one whiff could awaken the olfactory memories buried deep within her.

This was Fu Shi’s scent.

So unforgettable.

Nan Yin stared blankly at the car’s leather seats for a moment before her nose gradually adjusted to the faint, heart-racing cool fragrance.

Fu Shi must have ridden in this car before, right?

It smelled so good.

“Hello, may I ask your name?” Nan Yin leaned back in her seat and looked at Qin Deng, who was driving.

Qin Deng cleared his throat and quickly replied, “Qin Deng. Qin as in the Qin Dynasty, Deng as in light.”

“I’m President Fu’s assistant.”

“As for my name…” Qin Deng wanted to show off the origin of his name in front of Nan Yin, but Ruan Yu, impatient, quickly interrupted, “Assistant Qin, was it your President Fu who insisted on calling the police to find us?”

Hearing this, Qin Deng first nodded but then immediately shook his head. “No.”

“President Fu left it to me to handle, and I followed protocol by calling the police.”

After all, an apology would suffice. His President Fu definitely wouldn’t demand compensation from them.

As expected, she knew Fu Shi wasn’t that petty. He was so busy—why would he bother with such trivial matters?

Nan Yin’s red lips curved into a gentle, beautiful smile as she turned to look at Ruan Yu. Ruan Yu knew what her Yinyin wanted to say and quickly lowered her head in embarrassment and shame. “Yinyin, I was wrong.”

“I just hope he doesn’t form a bad impression of you because of this.”

Otherwise, she would feel guilty.

Yinyin had returned to her hometown this time specifically to pursue Fu Shi.

She didn’t want to ruin it for her.

Nan Yin didn’t blame her. “It’s fine.”

“Don’t blame yourself.”

Ruan Yu bit her lip, her heart aching with regret as she covered her face.

If only she had known better, she wouldn’t have acted impulsively and scribbled on his car.

Twenty minutes later, the Mercedes-Benz sped into Suzhou Industrial Park.

Gazing at the dazzling array of buildings before them.

Nan Yin felt a hint of daze and a touch of nervousness. After so many years, she was finally about to see him again. She wondered if he still remembered her, his high school classmate?

If he didn’t, that would be fine too.

After all, back in high school, they hadn’t interacted much.

Thinking this, Nan Yin gently pursed her lips. The car slowly came to a stop as Qin Deng parked. Nan Yin glanced outside, opened the door, and stepped out.

Ruan Yu quickly followed her out of the car.

Qin Deng glanced back at Nan Yin, standing under the scorching sun, so stunningly beautiful that it was impossible to look away. As a single man, he really couldn’t handle seeing such a beauty.

Just one glance made him shy.

He wondered if his boss, Fu Shi, would be as excited as he was upon learning that the person who had scratched his car was such a stunning beauty?

Ah, no, no, no—what was he thinking?

What kind of beautiful girl hadn’t his boss, Fu Shi, seen before?

How could he get excited over just one beauty? He was really underestimating his boss.

Qin Deng tried hard to calm down, maintaining his professionalism as an assistant. He led Nan Yin and Ruan Yu to the third floor of the company to meet Fu Shi.

Their company wasn’t a towering building in the CBD.

It only had three floors.

The top floor was the third floor.

Soon, they arrived at the executive area on the third floor. Qin Deng quickly walked ahead and knocked on a solid black wooden door. “Boss Fu, I’ve brought the person who scratched your car.”

“The police asked them to apologize to you.”

Behind the black wooden door, the handsome and aloof man kept his head down, flipping through the documents on his desk without looking up. “Come in.”

After saying this, he continued to examine the clauses in the contract, completely unaware of the slender figure entering after the door opened.

“Boss Fu, they’re here,” Qin Deng said, then obediently stood to the side.

Ruan Yu looked at the man behind the desk. No wonder people said he was handsome but difficult to deal with—it was true. Just look at his workaholic demeanor.

He didn’t even react when they entered.

“Um, Fu Shi, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have scratched your car, but you cut me off,” Ruan Yu began to explain and apologize. “Don’t blame Nan Yin.”

“This has nothing to do with her.”

As Ruan Yu hurriedly explained, the man who had been focused on the contract suddenly looked up upon hearing the name “Nan Yin.” His cool, dark eyes widened slightly when he saw the woman as enchanting as a rose standing unexpectedly before him.

He frowned and froze for a second.

But only for a second.

He was skilled at concealing his hidden emotions. He then set aside the documents in his hand and replied politely but distantly, “It’s fine.”
