Jeanette abruptly grabbed Reyna by the arm and said, “Excuse me, I would like to speak with my friend privately.” Without giving anyone a chance to speak, Jeanette dragged Reyna to a corner.

Jeanette released her grip on Reyna’s arm and gave her a stern look.

He doesn’t seem reliable,” she asked.

Reyna glanced at the two people waiting for them to return and said, “What choice do I have?

I want to find my son as soon as possible, and he might be the only one who can do it.” Jeanette’s expression softened as she placed a hand on Reyna’s shoulder and said, “I understand.

We all want Phoenix back safe and sound, but I don’t want you to place your hopes on the wrong person.” “I know, but if the police can vouch for his abilities, then I will have to trust that he can do it,” Reyna said, placing her own hand over Jeanette’s.

They stared at each other for several moments before returning back to the two people.

The man was completely relaxed, rocking on his heel while whistling.

Reyna noticed several police officers throwing him disgruntled looks, but none of them actually said a word as they continued doing their work.

She wondered if it was because they were ordered to or that they couldn’t bring themselves to waste their time on the man.

Reyna wasn’t sure which one she preferred.

Before she could speak, he said, “I’ll need your blood so I can find your son.” Reyna blinked before blurting out, “Are we doing it here?” How was she supposed to give him the blood with equipment?

Did he expect her to cut her hand like a cultist from the media?

That didn’t seem hygienic, and there was no way Jeanette would allow that.

In fact, Jeanette was glaring at the man for daring to suggest such a thing, looking one second away from strangling him.

The person by his side coughed into her fist before saying, “He’s just informing of the requirements.

We won’t actually do it here.” The look on the man’s face said otherwise, but Reyna didn’t say anything as they were guided to a separate room.

Once inside, she spotted several pieces of medical equipment already prepared and gave Jeanette a concerned look.

It didn’t go unnoticed, as the person said, “We had this equipment prepared beforehand as soon as Mr.

Holmes started working here.

Having to go to the hospital or call to have this brought in every time was deemed inconvenient.” She thought that made sense.

Having to travel between the station and the hospital or waiting for someone to arrive with the equipment would be time consuming.

If they were working limited time, this would be a huge problem.

Still, she wasn’t sure if she was willing to trust either of them to take her blood.

Were they even trained to take blood?

Even some nurses couldn’t do it right.

Fortunately, Jeanette was there, and she stepped forward as she said, “I will draw the blood, but first I need to make sure everything is clean.

I refuse to let my friend be infected with some kind of disease because you couldn’t disinfect your equipment.” While Reyna knew Jeanette was only worried for her, wasn’t it a bit much to insult police officers to their face?

Would they arrest her for disrespect?

Contrary to her expectations, the man just shrugged and said, “Do whatever.

Just let me know when you’re finished.” Jeanette narrowed her eyes and got to work.

Once she checked the equipment was in good condition and disinfected everything, she signaled for Reyna to take a seat.

Reyna didn’t hesitate as she rolled up her sleeve and held her arm out to Jeanette.

Jeanette checked for the vein before she wiped down Reyna’s arm with disinfect.

As Jeanette grabbed a tourniquet and wrapped it around Reyna’s arm, the man remarked, “You’ve done this before.

I guess you work in the medical field.” Instead of responding, she asked, “How much blood do you need?” “Just a few milliliters,” the man said as he shoved his hands into his pockets.

Jeanette checked for the vein again before inserting a needle.

Reyna didn’t bat an eye as blood was drawn, having been used to it under Jeanette’s care.

After Jeanette got the blood she needed, she withdrew the needle and covered the spot with a cotton ball.

Knowing what to do next, Reyna put pressure on it as Jeanette stood up.

“Here,” she said as she handed over the blood to the man.

Then, under the astonished gazes, the man drank the blood.

Their faces contorted in disgust, unable to believe what they just witnessed.

Had he really just drunk her blood?

Was he a vampire or something?

The man smacked his lips and closed his eyes.

After several moments, he reopened his eyes and said, “I found his trail.” A smile erupted on Reyna’s face as she scrambled to her feet.

Jeanette hurried to her side, acting as a support just in case she fell.

Before Reyna could ask where her son was, her smile faltered at the man’s strange expression.

Reyna felt a wave of trepidation as she hesitantly asked, “What’s wrong?

Is he hurt?” That seemed to snap the man out of the trance he was in, and he said, “I don’t know.

My magic doesn’t tell me that, but I can definitely tell you that he’s alive.” She breathed a sigh of relief as Jeanette asked, “Can you tell us where he is?” “Yes, but I suggest you give up on the kid,” the man said, his words slapping Reyna in the face.

What?

Reyna couldn’t even find the words to speak.

How could he suggest she give up on her son?

He was the child that she had carried for ten months and loved for five years.

Phoenix was her whole world.

Without him, life was meaningless.

“How dare you,” Jeanette snapped as she lunged forward and grabbed the man by his collar.

“It’s just a suggestion.

You don’t have to get so worked up over it,” he said as the person at his side tried to break them apart.

“You better have a good explanation before I tear your mouth apart,” Jeanette said as electricity crackled along her body.

He stared Jeanette in the eye and said, “He’s in the Kingdom of Goden.”
