Seeing the entire mansion mobilize, Dolores approached one of the servants and asked, “What’s happening?

Did something happen?” The servant grimaced and said, “Your sister has disappeared.

The master has ordered us to find her immediately.” As soon as he said his piece, he hurried away without a second glance.Full novel: Of Regret and Redemption — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Dolores stared at the retreating servant’s back and clenched her fists.

No one paid her any mind as she stormed up with a dark expression on her face.

What was her sister thinking?

How dare she pull a stunt like this, humiliating her after such a joyous occasion?

She was supposed to be basking in praises and admired by all for being able to conceive Grey’s child and marrying him.

Now everyone was too busy looking for her sister to pay Dolores any mind.

Once they found her, she was going to make her sister pay for this insult.

When she stepped out onto one of the balconies, she leaned against the railing and watched as people ran in all directions in their desperate search for Reyna.

She placed a hand on her stomach, thinking of all the ways she could torment her sister when a stray thought crossed her mind.

Wait a minute.

Grey couldn’t divorce Reyna without completing the paperwork, and that couldn’t happen without Reyna’s presence.

They couldn’t just put a fake signature and be done with it.

All important documents required the person’s magical signature, which couldn’t be faked.

That meant Dolores couldn’t marry Grey until Reyna was found.

Dolores slammed a hand against the railing, ignoring the pain radiating from her hand.

She gnashed her teeth together and glared hatefully at the forest before her.

It seemed that her sister had actually learned a trick or two.

She didn’t want to divorce, so she ran away to prevent it from happening, and thanks to her stunt, Grey would be completely obsessed with her until she was found.

He might even change his mind about divorcing her, ruining Dolores’ plans.

“That can’t happen.

I won’t let her ruin my plans,” she muttered before hurrying back inside.

She had to find Grey’s mother.

That old woman never liked Reyna, so it shouldn’t be difficult to get her on her side, especially since she was carrying the heir.

Once Reyna was found, she was going to regret leaving like this.

Completely unaware of anything that was happening back at the mansion, Reyna marched boldly through the forest.

She never once looked back, keeping her eyes forward as she feared that she might lose her nerve again if she did.

Branches and bushes pricked her everywhere with each step she took, but she ignored the minor annoyances.

Reyna wasn’t sure how long it would take before they discovered she was missing.

While she doubted they would care, she still wanted to put some distance between them just in case.

Who knew how they would react once they found that she was gone.

Stumbling over a tree root, she caught herself on a nearby tree and took a moment to catch her breath.

Her free hand touched her stomach.

It would have been faster if she could use magic to leave this place, but she had never been able to use it.

Besides, she heard it was dangerous to perform magic while pregnant.

Supposedly, it could hamper the fetus’s growth or make it difficult for the child to use magic in the future.

She wouldn’t want to wish such a fate on her child.

Gritting her teeth, she pressed forward.

Suddenly, she could hear something in the distance.

Reyna paused for a moment, straining her ears until she could clearly hear voices.

Her stomach dropped at the realization that they had already caught up to her, and she broke into a sprint.

Even though the chances of escaping them were slim, she had to try.

Maybe she would get lucky and get away undetected.

Unfortunately, it was not to be, as she heard someone shout, “There she is!” Another shouted, “Damn it.

Stop!” Of course, she ignored them as she ran as fast as she could.

However, it didn’t take them long before they had her cornered on the cliffside.

Glancing over the edge, she saw the Brashambe River below and wondered if she wanted to risk jumping.

“Finally.

You’ve caused quite a bit of trouble,” the man said as he rubbed the back of his neck.

She remained silent as she studied the group standing in front of her.

There were at least ten of them.

It would be impossible for her to take them on, especially in her condition.

Would she really have to return with them?

“I don’t see why we have to bring her back with us.

I mean, our master has a new wife,” another man said as the rest voiced their acknowledgment.

One of them made a show of looking her up and down as his face wrinkled in disgust.

“I can definitely see why.

He definitely got an upgrade.” “What if we tell him we didn’t find her?

It’s not like he’ll ever know,” a different person suggested.

For a brief moment, she was relieved that they didn’t want to bring her back.

She immediately snapped out of it, as she doubted they were going to let her leave that easily, and prepared herself for what they had planned.

Just like she feared, someone said, “We can always kill her and make it look like an accident.

It’s better for everyone if she just drops dead.” Realizing where this was going, she knew she had to make a decision quickly.

Go with them and hope they did bring her back safely, or jump over the edge and risk her life.

No, it wasn’t only her life on the line, and she came to a decision.

Without giving them a chance to react, she threw herself over the edge.

As she fell, she looked up and was greeted by the sight of the men crowding around the edge, looking down at her in disbelief.

With a smirk, she did something she had never done before and flipped them the finger right as she hit the water.
