Enduring all the congratulations, Grey finally saw an opening to get away from the crowd.

He bid everyone farewell and headed for Reyna’s bedroom, only to be stopped by Dolores, who clung onto his arm.

“Where are you going?” Dolores asked, batting her eyelashes at him.Full novel: Of Regret and Redemption — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“I need to speak to Reyna,” he said, trying to gently shake her off.

“What do you need to do that for?

You’ve already told her you’ll divorce her.

What else is there to say?” she demanded.

Grey wanted to point out that it wasn’t his choice.

He never wanted to divorce Reyna, but he couldn’t just let his child grow up to be a bastard.

He had to take responsibility even if he couldn’t remember how they both ended up together in bed.

Seeing that he remained silent, she snapped, “Forget about her.

You should be more focused on me and our baby.” Her nails dug into his bicep, and he narrowed his eyes.

Grabbing her arm, he forcefully removed it while taking care not to cause her too much harm so as not to injure his child.

“I don’t see why this is any of your concern.

I already promised to marry you,” he said coldly.

“It doesn’t concern me?

Of course it does.

How would it look to everyone if you spent time with your ex-wife over your current wife?” she said, stomping her foot.

“She’s still my wife.

We haven’t divorced, and I haven’t married you yet,” he calmly said as he crossed his arms.

“Do you intend to make Reyna your mistress?” she demanded as she stomped her foot again.

“No,” he said instantly.

The very idea of it repulsed him.

Grey refused to demean Reyna in that way.

Despite what he said earlier, she would always be his wife and no one else.

This divorce and marriage were only temporary until the baby was born.

Then things could go back to the way they were before.

He would have rather not go through such a convoluted plan in the first place, but Dolores ruined everything by opening her mouth and letting the whole world know.

“Then are you going to get rid of her?” she asked.

Grey couldn’t believe his ears.

What kind of sister asked that?

They were so close before, so how could she even dare to voice such a thought?

Why had she suddenly changed?

It was so unlike her.

He stared at her like she was a monster as he quietly said, “She’s your sister.” “So what if she’s my sister.

It doesn’t make sense for her to linger,” she said as she latched onto him again.

“If I remember correctly, she allowed you to stay,” he pointed out, his expression hardening.

Dolores scowled and said, “That’s different.

You can’t allow her to stay.” Grey cursed himself for getting into this mess.

If she weren’t the mother of his child and Reyna’s younger sister, he would have her tossed out of his territory, but not before teaching her a lesson.

“Enough.

You might be the mother of my child, but you will respect me,” he snapped, causing her to flinch.

Removing herself from Grey, she bowed her head as she said through gritted teeth, “Yes, sir.” “I have not forgotten that you went against me and revealed all this without my permission,” he said as she kept her head bowed.

Her head snapped up as she demanded, “Did you intend to keep me as your dirty little secret?

Were you ashamed you slept with your wife’s sister?” “Dolores,” he said, his voice taking on a warning tone.

“That’s it, isn’t it?

Why else would you not want to share this news with anyone?” she demanded.

Grey slammed his fist against the wall, creating a sizable dent.

She finally shut her mouth, staring at him with wide, fearful eyes.

“This is a private affair.

It’s not something you air out for everyone to hear.

It’s best to remember that before you decide to share secrets not meant for other people’s ears,” he said, removing his hand from the wall.

He hadn’t intended for Reyna to learn about it this way.

Grey had truly intended to inform her about it and speak with her about what they should do, but Dolores ruined that.

Hopefully, he could fix this mess before it was too late.

He would do anything to earn her forgiveness, as long as she remained his wife.

“Now I expect you to rest while I speak with your sister,” he said before turning his back on her.

Making his way to her room, he acknowledged the passing servants until he stopped before Reyna’s bedroom door.

After he knocked, he waited for her to open and greet him with a soft smile.

Several moments passed, and he knocked again.

When there was no response yet again, he forced the door open, only to find that it was already open.

Scanning the room, he didn’t see any traces of her.

With a frown, he hailed a nearby servant and said, “I wish to speak with Reyna.

Where is she?” “I don’t know, sir,” the woman said as she avoided his gaze.

“Then find her,” he ordered.

The woman nodded frantically before scurrying away like a rat.

Pulling out his cell phone, he sent her a text.

Suddenly, he heard a noise in her bedroom.

As unease crept in his heart, he switched to calling.

Following the familiar ringtone, he found the phone he had given her lying on the table next to her wedding ring.

He picked both items up and stared blankly at them.

What did this mean?

Why would she leave her wedding ring and phone here?

She had never once left them out of her sight.

She wasn’t going to leave him, right?

Tightening his grip on them, he spun around and marched out of her room, startling nearby servants, who flinched and bowed their heads at the sight of his expression.

“I want all of you to look for Reyna now.

If you’re unable to find her within the next hour, I will have all your heads,” he ordered.

They scrambled away, nearly tripping over their feet in the process.

Watching them run around like headless chickens, he barely reacted as there was only one thing on his mind.

He raised her wedding ring to his eye level so he could stare at it.

While Grey didn’t understand why this was happening, he was going to find her and make it clear that she wasn’t going to leave him.

He would never allow it.
