Editor: Henyee Translations Vera Warner has always hated being threatened by others, and anyway, what’s so great about Victor Morgan?
She’s not interested in him at all.
She’s only putting up with his plans for the sake of their daughter, and that’s already a huge compromise.
If he keeps trying to push her around, then sorry, she isn’t someone who’ll just lie down and take it.
“That’s more like it.
Sure, I’ll feed you and your son three meals a day, but you have to follow my rules.
If I’m in a bad mood one day and don’t feel like cooking, then we’ll just order takeout.”
“Fine, your turf, your rules.”
Victor Morgan had no idea where his saintlike patience came from to actually agree to such a rude demand from this woman.
Although, to be fair, he was rude first, but somehow she’d managed to turn the tables on him.
Vera nodded, quite satisfied, gave him a “bye-bye” gesture, and drove off in her car in triumph.
“That woman is really infuriating!”
Victor grumbled, yet didn’t notice that the corners of his mouth had lifted.
Looking at this academy, he actually felt pretty reassured about Chloe Warner.
The only reason he was making all these concessions was to improve his relationship with Zola.
Ever since she was little, this kid’s temper was explosive.
The child psychologist had said that if things kept going this way—
It would seriously affect the kid’s mental and physical health, and she could develop something like rage disorder, or even, in extreme cases, split personality.
Otherwise, how could Victor Morgan—who was always so cold and unfeeling—ever lower himself to beg that gold-digging woman?
But… this feeling wasn’t so bad, actually.
And just after Vera parted ways with Victor, she immediately got a call.
“Hello!
Am I speaking to Chloe Warner’s parent?”
The guy’s tone was a bit stiff.
Vera quickly pulled over.
“Yes, I’m her mother.
Who’s this?”
“This is the Morgan Group Kindergarten’s office.
Your child just enrolled and is already having conflict with other kids, and did some strange things, which has affected the other students, so we’ve already transferred her somewhere else.”
Vera got really worried at the first part, but when she heard her daughter had been sent away, she flared up instantly.
“How can your school do this?
If my daughter really has a problem, you could at least let me come pick her up.
How can you just send my child somewhere else without permission?
Is this how the Morgans bully people?”
Vera’s first reaction was that people in the Morgan Group always acted so high and mighty, so of course their kindergarten was arrogant enough to actually kick her daughter out.
Good thing she’d raised Chloe Warner to be a tough girl—if not, she’d be bawling her eyes out by now.
“Anyway, this call is to tell you to come pick her up from this address!” The other side’s attitude stayed nasty.
After hanging up, they sent her the location.
Vera immediately set her GPS to the address.
Luckily, it wasn’t far, and thinking of her precious daughter, she changed course at once.
Of course, along the way, she didn’t forget to curse out Victor Morgan, so as she sped off, she called his number.
Thinking they’d just parted ways not twenty minutes ago, and now the woman was calling again, Victor figured she was probably going to beg for mercy, or maybe she’d fallen for him.
Victor answered leisurely: “What’s up?
It’s only been a little while since we split up.
Are you…?”
“Victor Morgan, you turtle bastard!
You’ve gone way too far!
You think you’re so great just because you’re rich?
Let me tell you, if you hurt my daughter’s fragile heart, I’ll fight you to the death.”
She really wasn’t calling to beg for mercy, or because she’d fallen for him, but just to cuss him out with everything she had.
Victor was totally confused, his face darkening: “Vera Warner, what are you raving about?
Do you even know who you’re talking to right now?”
“Of course I know.
I’m talking to the most shameless man in Aethelgard.
And let me warn you—tell your underlings not to be too cocky.
One minute you say sweet things about letting Chloe into your kindergarten, and the next you’re throwing her out.
You just messing with us for fun?”
“What nonsense are you spouting?”
“Can’t face what you’ve done?
You sent my daughter away.
I’m going to pick her up now.
If she ends up with psychological trauma, you’re dead!”
At this point, Vera’s temper was boiling; she gave Victor zero chance to respond before hanging up and following the GPS to her destination.
Victor was still frozen, holding the phone, not even moving.
In front, the driver and Special Assistant York were both stunned; though they couldn’t hear exactly what the boss and the woman were arguing about—
They’d definitely seen her hang up on him first.
And the wildest thing was, they’d clearly heard her cussing him out—the scariest part was, she was a woman.
Victor stiffly put down his phone, his voice cold: “Do you guys not want your jobs anymore?”
The two immediately stared straight ahead, not daring to look at his expression.
Victor was furious, but he calmed himself quickly and started to think this through.
This crazy woman claimed he’d kicked Chloe out of school and was now going to pick her up.
That’s not the kind of thing she’d just make up for the hell of it.
Could something really have happened?
Victor angrily called the school.
The principal told him that Chloe had behaved herself all day, got along great with the other kids—
In fact, she was so lively and outgoing that she got all the other kids to play together.
So that nutjob had obviously misunderstood.
Still, the fact that she was so angry couldn’t be fake either.
Suddenly, Victor thought of something bad and shouted, “Turn around!
Immediately track Vera Warner’s whereabouts.”
Special Assistant York hesitated: “President Morgan, we have a contract negotiation scheduled right now—if we leave, isn’t that a bit inappropriate?”
Victor snapped, “What, are you trying to teach me how to do my job now?
Do you want me to start calling you President York?”
Special Assistant York shook his head in terror.
Victor must have swallowed a stick of dynamite today—they had to tread carefully if they didn’t want to get caught in the crossfire.
“No, sir.
I’ll investigate Miss Warner’s situation right away.”
Victor had a bad feeling in his gut, and a lot of curiosity too—what on earth had happened?
Did someone really have it out for Vera Warner?
He’d already done a background check on her.
Aside from some conflicts in her family, she had no other known grievances.
Soon, Special Assistant York reported: “President Morgan, according to the GPS tracker, Miss Warner is currently heading toward a newly-built shopping mall.
The mall won’t open for another ten days—right now, it’s completely closed to the public.”
